Between these two-to each their own...but these are blowers-they blow...soooooo the one that blows better is the better choice ...The fuel efficiency of the Stihl is appealing - but you'll use less fuel finishing jobs faster...I like the padding on the Echo better also...hat tip to the venerable br600...I'm in the Echo power equipment camp..understand you are a Stihl dealer so no shade being thrown your way-hard to be unbiased - you were honest with the results-hats off to you for that!

I own both. The BR 600 was a gift from my children. It is 17 years old. The ECHO was found at the dump about 6 years ago. The spark plug had been removed and the cylinder was full of water, The piston was seized so I put some WD-40 in it and the next day was able to turn it over. I put on a new carb for about 75 bucks. Both are still runing! I blow about an acre of wooded lot each year…roughly 20 hours each per year. I like them both but the PB-770 H blows more leaves , sucks a bunch of gas and is heavier. OBTW I use 100LL aviation gasoline, changed the spark plugs every other year along with thr air filters… i would buy either again.

2 things on the head to head. Place a piece of plywood on the scale and zero it out (maybe 2ft x 2ft. It would absorb the stream better)... on the battery test, tape an umbrella to it. It would take away user error. It's possible that the stihl just doesn't work well with the shape and dimension of the battery. To be honest, I was rooting for the stihl, but I kind of knew the echo would win. Same with the br800 and pb9010. Thanks again for sharing

The trick to that battery test is to keep your airflow aimed at the bottom of the battery to form a cushion of air under it, much like a puck in air hockey. Plus, stay back a couple feet so the air has a chance to spread out slightly.

Great video, I was gonna buy the echo 770 from my local echo dealership but I ended up buying a shindaiwa EB770T, he said while echo owns shindaiwa and they look identical in fact there not, that shindaiwa blowers are made with more metal parts for heavier commercial use, the shindaiwa was only $9 dollars more and he said buy whatever you like, but he said most people think echo and shindaiwa are identical when in fact the shindaiwas are built more rugged with heavier duty parts 🤔

I know Shindaiwa's a Japanese company been around the 50s, but nowadays, they are headquarted in Lake Zurich, IL. However, they remain closely tied to their homeland, since they now belong to ECHO Incorporated, a subsidiary of the Yamabiko corporation, from what I read. to be honest with you the dealer I purchased it from wasn't trying to steer me one way or the other she said there nearly identical buy whatever I want, its just that Shindaiwa's have more metal parts then plastic and from what she was told there heavier duty for the commercial market. I mean it's a great blower packed with loads of power other than its Red and Black. It looks nearly identical as the echo but I definitely want to find out the facts. Thanks for this interesting video. I think the weight issue is not important unless we know why one is heavier than the other and if the weight difference is due to more robustness in key components (e.g. engine) then I don't mind an extra pound or two. When it comes to durability, I believe Echo warranty has 2 years for Commercial use and 5 years for Residential. I don't know what Stihl has but definitely worth checking out before you buy.
