Tourists must realize that these guards are British Army personnel doing this duty and are not there to be ridiculed and they are not there for amusement, this is the Horse Guards Parade establishment and these duties have been carried out for years. So please show some respect.
Sadly respect these days is not taught not enforced and not shown by so many, Some seem to think they are actors and it is all a big show for their entitled entertainment. And this guy was one who had not a shred of respect for the Guard.

Letting people go up to them, makes it feel like they are Disney Characters. !!! The tourists mingling with the soldiers and horses is and has been a disaster. Some one will get hurt .

Where do people go up to people standing around in “costume” ? At theme parks. Where can soldiers be approached ?? Maybe this used to work fine. But everyone knows what theme parks look like now. And this looks like it to the person not knowing what this is. How , how are they supposed to know ? And I don’t mean the language barrier, but that would add to the misinformation.

The guards are not allowed to talk to the people unless it is to say yes, IF they ask to have a photo but that does not happen very often.

He asked, "No touching?" like the guard was a museum exhibit. People come to see these historic places, but have no knowledge of what they really are. If you go to another country to visit, read, Google, or YT it and get a clue.

Some of us should write letters to the Palace and complain, then something MIGHT be done. Pulling the reins not only is a breach of etiquette it also pulls on the horses's bit. That is animal cruelty.

I think the guy that got handsy with the King's Guard did so out of ignorance of military tradition. That, and he was just plain stupid... But, I did get a good laugh out of his "what did I do?" expression. So, for all the people that haven't served in the military (no matter the nation or branch), let me make it simple: DO NOT TOUCH A SENTRY ON DUTY! And this includes the horses!

These tourist think the guards and horses are there for their own photo-op. How demoralizing for these guards. If they get these guards to March back and forth it will discourage these tourist from using these guards from as cardboard cutout for photo ops.

They don't realise these soldiers would be doing this job, whether they were there or not. They should put up a perimeter around the area so no access to anybody just the soldiers and police. Let the tourists take photos from a distance.

Where are the armed police? I thought they were supposed to protect the guards. It's about time this rude, disgusting, disrespectful behaviour from the tourist towards our Kings guards and horses stopped, it outrageous our soldiers have to put up with this every day. Put the people in charge on horses for a week or two and see how they like it.

Explain to the groping tourist that touching isn't allowed, and if he/she gets nasty with you, the guard will likely signal the police in the area. (The guard will also probably silently cheer you for saying aloud what he wishes he were at liberty to say!)
No touching means no touching when will they learn

Touching the horses is allowed.
Touching the reins is NOT as it is the way of controlling the animals.
The guards and their horses serve here as a tourist attraction - that is their purpose (not all the time obviously!)

I have been watching these videos for months. I am bedridden, and I when I could still walk we visited in England, in 1996 and 1998. Not only did we see the full Change of the Guard,at Buckingham Palace which is a wonderful spectecal, we also saw these, at that time called the Queens Life Guards.
I cannot believe what these tourists do. Do they honestly think these Guards are there for their entertainment. I am deeply disturbed that they have no regard, openly displaying the most disgraceful behaviour!

I’ve watched several of these videos. I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone actually ask the guard first if they can take a picture with him and definitely no one thanks them after the picture has been taken. It’s as though they honestly believe these guards and horses are characters there for the tourists entertainment. Honestly, it would still be rude if they were characters if the tourists never acknowledge them.
I say again, they are vulnerable like this, on horse or behind chain, someone could do much worse than touch their hats. Too Vulnerable.

I've watched a bunch of these videos and still wonder what goes through someones head that it is ok to grab the reins of the Guard Horse. You also don't need to touch the horse to get your photo taken. Again, respect the Guard and his Horse. They're "On Duty".

WOW. Good for that one woman in the dark blue dress, and the man in blue T-shirt, who actually turned to the guard and THANKED him! In watching a lot of these, and the ones with the guards on horses…I have NEVER seen one person thank the guard. Major kudos Madame, and Sir…you are unique! Also, I got a good chill to see (what I think were) Aboriginals from Oz there, truly made me smile!

Frankly, I think it’s intrusive to just go up and stand beside anyone, and photograph them. I thought you had to have permission before photographing anyone!
I was amused to see the chap walking from behind the guard and reaching up to check how sharp the sword was. Haha , obviously very sharp as he withdrew his hand very quickly.

I was watching the man in black with headphones he touched the tip of the guards sword and realised it was sharp. If the other man thinks he didn’t touch the guard he is an idiot cause you can see it plain as day.
