an alternative i have had success with, is a motion detector, one side a light bulb, the other a screw in socket/plug; into that i plug a radio (tuned to talk). if a deer gets within 10 ft of my garden, the light and radio come on together; this works so well, and is so much cheaper and easier than fencing. credit for this must be given to Willson's greenhouse in Petoskey, Michigan.

A strong fishing line is cheap and works like a charm. My area is only 10x20 ft and I used a 6ft metal post set every 10ft. I pulled the fishing line taut and put a line every six inches. It's almost invisible and it's worked perfectly for two seasons Just don't tell your husband what happened to his fishing line.

The critters will get a much better zap if you use wire. You lose a lot of voltage with polytape - especially on a long run like that. I would at least change the outside top polytape to bare wire Or just add another line at the very top of your T posts. It's the first zap they are going to remember - so make it as memorable as you can.
I’m going to go with an electric fence but also try a trick I heard of, which is to hang strips of aluminium foil along the fence and smear peanut butter on the alfoil. The deer are attracted to the peanut butter, and when they sniff it or try and lick it, they’ll get a good zap and stay away 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
You don't need two fences. Coat the one fence tape with peanut butter and the does will lick it and get shocked. They will avoid it from that point on. If they have their fawns with them the fawns learn from the Doe and you have two generations educated. The fence is there to shock them, do it once and they learn quick.

I remember watching one stand by a fence which is about 3 feet tall, and it just popped straight over from a standing start. There are deer parks round big houses here in the UK and they have huge high walls. I do hope Dre's fence does the biz.
Deer have a hard time with depth perception which is why a certain style of fence works. If you make a couple rows of fence instead of just one fence line, they can't judge the height and likely won't jump it since they think they'll get stuck. For hunters we have plenty of staff and family that do the job well enough.

Perhaps you should let them in once the plants have stopped fruiting. They can nibble them off and deposit instant fertiliser. Your plants are looking so good. I would like all that sunshine you are having. Can you show a picture of the close up right into the centre of the plants. I have deer I see the ploppings but they have only nibbled a couple of plants but not damaged the crown or root. We have more problems with them if it snows, the grass is covered and they go for anything that sticks out the top: Cabbages and broccoli. I will have to go and net them if it snows. I am hoping for another couple of weeks of root growth. The warmth you are having at the moment is due to be pushed by the jet stream right over to me, but it picks up moisture from the Atlantic on the way, so warm and wet but not much sunshine. Maybe that will encourage the roots to grow more. I have read that chilli powder deters them too. The other problem with deer is they carry Ecoli. So could be a problem for the Upick. Maybe this is a good way of preventing people eating them rather than paying for them. Threaten them with Ecoli.
The whole idea is to train the deer to avoid this area completely. Usually one puts peanut butter on foil wrapped on the fence and they taste the peanut butter and get shocked. But then if they are really hungry……
Billy's Bone Sauce didn't work for us. My wife painted it on 2' stakes 6' a part and the deer just walked up and decimated the Raspberries. We didn't just use a little either. My wife painted them like she was painting the house, Undiluted. It might work painted direct on trees because of the taste, but not fences or stakes.
@Perma Pastures Farm I bought your bone sauce at $50 for 4oz, it did nothing to save my young fruit trees from the deer. The deer still ate all my young new trees, I dare say they quite enjoy your bone sauce, they didn't touch my other fruit trees nearby with no bone sauce, just come back repeatedly to the bone sauce trees. I've literally watched them do it, so it wasn't another animal, it was a deer. Plenty of other food to eat all around my acreage, everything is lush and growing. They go straight for your bone sauce. Whatever you put into it attracts deer and they love it. I'd ask for my money back, but I spent hundreds of dollars and countless hours and hard labor digging holes and planting trees, time and energy wasted because I put my trust in your videos and bone sauce. I won't make that mistake again.
You obviously never seen deer jump high and long...nice fence for cattle...but it's not for deer. Deer will never be shocked...they'll prefer to jump it anyway. Make it 10 to12 feet spacing between fencing...at least when the deer come down they'll land on the 2nd hot wire.

You can do that exact set up with twine. No current. I do it and they hate it.

How far apart are your T posts? Your lowest wire is how high - and the highest wire? Maybe it is not an exact science - your field looks great!!

Deer simply jump over my fishing lined fence, and dragged the line (when they gauge the height wrong), along with my posts...

Deer can jump crazy high. I'd make the fence at least 8 feet tall. Also invite a few hunters to "thin" the herd of "rats with horns" out.

Only way to be sure the fencing is working is to get trail cams up.
Oh trust me, you'll know if it isn't working. It only takes a couple nights for them to eat through those leaves.

I read you should set this up before you have a field of tasty treats in there so the deer are trained ahead of time that this is a no-go zone.

Hey the bone sauce did not work for my garden and on rented land. Painted it on stakes around both. Deer ate near all my corn.
