Tip: After you use all your toothpaste, cut open the tube. You'd be surprised how much is in there! I put mine in a baggie and usually have a week to ten days more toothpaste.

Finally someone understands about cheap “scratchy” towels!!! I hate soft towels! I thought I was the only one😂
Frankly, I'm not a fan of scratchy towels. But, I do like absorbancy which I don't get with the softer, more expensive towels. So, I don't hang my towels outside to dry...too scratchy and rough. But, I do prefer the thinner, cheaper towels for absorbancy. But, I dry them in my clothes dryer with softener dryer sheets. 👍 Yeah so I'm using a few cents worth of electricity. But, I use my cheap dryer sheets to put in my dresser drawers, run over my clothes after dressed to remove hair, etc. and dust my furniture. 🙂👍
I don't like scratchy towels. But, I do like the cheaper less expensive towels for absorbancy. When I launder them, I put them in my electric clothes dryer (a few pennies spent) with an inexpensive scent free (have allergies and skin sensitivity) dryer sheets. I use those same one with a few loads then use them to remove lint, etc. from my clothes and dust my furniture and baseboards.I can make a small box of cheap dryer sheets last for months. By the time I finally dispose of them, they are shot. 🤣 I can't recycle them though. Anybody have any solution to this part? P.S. I don't have a washing machine that liquid softener can be used with. 🤔
Towels line dried are not soft, smell wonderful and really absorb better.
I love cheap scratchy towels. Can’t stand the feel of thick, soft towels. The best and cheapest I’ve found is the cheapest ikea towels.
I don't love scratchy towels, I do prefer softer. But, the cheaper towels do absorb better. So, I compromise. I buy cheap towels but get the absorbancy I want by putting them in my dryer and avoid the scratchy by not drying them outside. Plus, I don't bring pollen back inside with the towels. I have bad allergies and asthma. 👍
I am a couponer. I never pay for personal hygiene items or makeup and sometimes companies pay me to take their items lol. I have enough in my stockpile to last me for years. I donate to churches and share with friends, family, and co-workers.

Prepper Princess, you are my hero! I water down shampoo, conditioner and body wash also. I have been using a bidet for several years but I don't use toilet paper. I made my wipes from bath cloths. Cut in fourths and zigzag around it. They last forever. No they are not dirty because I have used the bidet so it is just water. I have a small trash can with a removable liner to put them in after use. I will never go back to toilet paper. Learned about the cloth from my Grandmother many years ago as a child living with no running water or indoor plumbing. I water down my body wash, shampoo and conditioner. You Rock!

Dental hygienist here….yes AIM is a good toothpaste and very inexpensive. Close Up is an old school one that is really cheap too. Patients ask me every day about what toothpaste to use and honestly it doesn’t matter…u actually don’t even really need toothpaste (although the fluoride in it is helpful if you are prone to decay) so if you need to be extra frugal just brush and floss. You can grow a little mint plant in your bathroom and chew on a bit and then brush if you want fresh breath or you can brush just with water at night and then the tiniest bit of toothpaste in the morning to freshen your breath (don’t forget to brush your tongue). As far as floss I actually prefer the one from the dollar store.
Hygienist here as well. 40 yrs!!! One of my students gave me a hydroxyapetite lavender vanilla toothpaste to try I love it.

That’s what I do-I brush with just water at night. In the morning I use cheap toothpaste like aim for it’s breath freshening effects.
In addition to brushing and flossing, have one of those metal, curved tongue scrapers. It was $7 and it goes such a long ways in freshening my breath. Foods taste better too. It’s so simple to use, clean and store and just takes a few seconds each day. Worth every penny! I thought it seemed weird and was hesitant to try one, but now I wish I would’ve done so years ago.
I love this. My grandma was 91 when she died and everyone always complimented her on her skin - she barely had a wrinkle on her face when she died. When people asked her what she used on her face, she would tell them just water. She was allergic to a lot of soaps and makeup and things, so just water and a washcloth was all she used. Her skin was so beautiful.
That's what I use. Washcloth and hot water. Started using the Aldi brand of face moisturizer. It's going to last a long time.

If you don’t smoke, don’t start. If you do smoke, please try to quit. Besides the horrendous monetary cost, there are other benefits. This - lovely skin - is just one.
I recently saw a video with 3 people that put dirt on themselves. They each took a shower and used different soaps, but one person used nothing, just rinsed off. Then they tested to see who was really the cleanest and the person that rinsed off only was cleaner than the ones that used soaps. I thought that was pretty interesting.
Yes! This! I’ve never liked soap. People tell me I’m gross. It’s annoying, because no one complains before they know I don’t use soap.
I heard about that test a few years ago! The soap leaves residue, like that ring around the bathtub, but we stopped the ring by using liquid hand soap. The soap was gluing the dirt to the tub!

Yes. Bar soap and a washcloth last so much longer than body wash and a pouf.
I don't wear it if I dont need it. Not in the winter, spring or fall. I only wear it when it is hot out or I will be out for a while in the heat. We have lived for thousands of years and in the last 100 it seems we need all kinds of things we actually dont need.
Here’s a tip for saving on hand soap. Refill a foaming hand soap bottle with 1 tablespoon of liquid Castile soap and water. Works like a charm, and one bottle of Castile soap will keep you going for a veeeeeery long time.
Double P, I'm uber cheap because I also cut my toothpaste tube after it's flat as a pancake and dig in there with my toothbrush. Get another good 4 to 6 uses out of it.
I use a "net" soap bag and throw all the slivers of soap into the bag!
You’re correct. After using a bidet you won’t need to wipe multiple times with tissue. I learned that after having a 10 lb baby, in which I was cut from hole to hole with my episiotomy. I had dozens of sutures. They said to use water and spray the area and the pat myself dry. I also used a heat lamp between my legs to help dry out the sutures. It works like a charm and I healed well and stayed clean.
I love the cheap towels that are thinner and rougher to the touch. Bought some cheap undyed ones at IKEA which are thin. Around $2 each from memory. Can’t stand the feel of thick towels.
I have purchased a lot of soaps, shampoos and body washes in the past. Nothing more until they are completely used up.

I found a mouthwash diy recipe on Pinterest, so I’ve made that twice. Steep cloves in boiled water and let cool. Strain and pour into a bottle.

I use Crystal , you wet it , rub it on underarms or wherever, and it lasts for atleast a year or more . I only pay like $6 for it . It also works better than anything I’ve ever used ! It doesn’t stop you from sweating , but it does stop odor .
The only thing that stopped me from needing clinical deoderant! I use Glycolic Acid serum now but the main principle of killing the bacteria still stands!

Coconut oil is great for moisturizer on skin and hair.
I cut up old towels and use as cleaning rags. They last years 😊.
You just gave me an idea. I use disinfectant wipes for really nasty spots like the toilet. Im going to save the tub they come in, splash some pine sol and water in and cut up old t shirts im getting rid of anyway to make my own disposable wipes.

Yup, I feel like thick fluffy ones get stinkier faster because they take forever to dry. Even when hung. Mind you my towels get super wet because of my long hair.

My dentist keeps me swimming in a sea of toothbrushes. I keep the colors/firmness that I like and have the others ready for collections. I just went to the laundry mat to hot rinse my comforters. I don't like the icky chemicals detergent companies have switched to. I only have to use a dab o'shampoo in the crown and I put my detangling conditioner in a spray bottle and stretch it out as much as I can. I gave a 41 year-old all my old untouched razors...one of the good thing about turning 60 is that my leg stubble rubbed off and I'm a leg baldie now. :)
I have been cutting my hair for more than 10 years. I decided last year to get a hair cut because I wanted to go shorter than I usually do. I was so disappointed. I learned to just stick to what I got. I can't see paying someone more that $40 for what they did to my hair...

I use one solid crystal stick a year. After showering and skin is still slightly moist a couple of swipes is all that is needed. I live in a Mediterranean climate and sweat profusely but no odour...if I miss a day or two I definitely smell. I find solid stick deodorant to be much more economical than the watery roll on ones.

I had an oral surgeon pull a wisdom tooth (ouch...$500 out of pocket) They told me they don't like the alcohol in mouthwash. They suggested using salt water . You could put salt water in that mouthwash bottle when it is empty.
After i cant squeeze toothpaste anymore, i cut the tube into 3 parts and dig toothbrush in to scoop out some more. Still enough toothpaste to last another 2 weeks!

Ya, I do that too. First I drag it across the edge of my counter and/or use a comb or something else flat and hard to press out as much as possible, holding it against the counter as I do so. There's never any left when I'm done with it. I do this with most things in tubes.
I like the cheaper coarser bathe towels that exfoliate while drying.
I like thin towels. The really thick plush ones are annoying, too heavy and make me tired using them, take forever to dry, both air drying and dryer drying, and start to get stinky from mildew.
Oh, yeah.... The bidet...I don't have one. I use a squirt bottle and pat dry with a wash cloth. Everything else... SAME ☺️

I use an old plastic card to scrap the toothpaste to the top and fold it up, hold it with a Bobby pin, works so well!

A good no cost morning moment. Wet down a wash cloth. Wrap 2 ice cubes in it, eye width apart. Put them over your closed eyes. Lay down for 60 seconds and it will help eliminate puffiness that happens to “everyone” under the eyes.😊

The two most aging things for ones face / complexion are smoking & sunbathing ... do not smoke & wear an spf50 when outdoors ... simple.
Unfortunately higher quality products cost more. I refused to use anything with parabens and fragrances. Fragrances act as estrogen disruptors and parabens have actually been found inside breast cancer cells because breast cancer cells feed on it. Cheap products do the job…yes. But chemicals will affect your health. And if those chemicals haven’t affected your health yet, they will when you hit perimenopause.
I am concerned about all the chemicals, too, and this is why using nothing is often enough. My hubby stopped using shampoo all together years ago, just showers with water and used small amount of soap about once a week. No smell 😉 I still use some shampoo and a little bit of shower gel, but about 90% less than before. Also, a normal activity person does not need a shower every day. Minimize the exposure and save tooooons of casharoo 👌
I make all my own shampoo, body wash, hand soap, counter cleaners etc from Castile soap no chemicals to worry about. Plenty of diy recipes on line. Cost pennies to make a bottle.
I use V05 for hair, Ponds coldcream for moisturizer, cheapest deoderant. Quit wearing makeup unless its a special occasion.
I save the bar soap slivers and place them in a liquid soap dispenser and fill with water. After the slivers dissolve within a few days - just pump to dispense.
When I use a bar of soap down to a sliver I wet it and stick it to a new bar. They adhere to each other.
I have recently started cutting open toothpaste tubes when they appear finished. I was surprised to see how much was still inside. This started me off to cut open other things like handcream bottles etc....loads more stuff still inside
I cut open lotion and shampoo tubes also. It's unreal how much product is still left in there.Sometimes I have 2 weeks worth.
I use cheap Walmart towels because they are thinner, not bulky, and dry quickly on my clothes drying rack after washing them. My drying rack is in my spare bedroom (in my condo.) I can't imagine trying to dry expensive, thick towels this way.
I went to Japan and most houses only have one shower and two toilets. Even the bigger houses. The toilet rooms are tiny as it does not require a sink for handwashing. When you flush, the sink that is above the toilet tank, starts dispensing water that you can use for handwashing and the dirty water from handwashing goes to the tank to flush the toilet. Brilliant. It’s also a country for the best bidet.
What I find crazy is the new marketing that's encouraging deodorant use on other parts other than armpits. It's unnecessary

Absolutely unnecessary. This is a very insulting marketing ploy, basically telling women that we stink. We do not! Soap and water is enough for our sensitive areas.
The thought of using deodorant for my private areas makes me cringe so hard. That CANT be healthy.
Not just unnecessary, it's harmful. Chemicals disrupt natural balance and cause infection. On top of synthetic underware. 🙄

YES!!! To "cheap" towels! The expensive ones make a mess with lint in your laundry and everywhere...and they somehow just don't seem as absorbent.

When I was growing up, my mom used to save every shred of soap, especially those little rosettes that she put out for company. She put them in an empty plastic netted suet bag (yes, she got suet free at the butcher and used it for pie crusts). She attached the bag to the faucet spigot in the tub and that what we used until it was gone!
In fairness, you don't need a lot of makeup.

Reuse the foaming soap containers and make your own refills. A bottle of liquid soap makes so many bottles of the foaming soap. I also think that the foaming soap is easier to rinse off. Deodorant is different for different people, I have a friend who doesn't use any deodorant because she has no odor. Homemade deodorant is easy to make. I have a bidet and use it the same way as you described, except I use a bath cloth to dry. So much cleaner for sure. I use about one roll of single ply Scott Tissue each month. If a friend stays over, at least a roll per week.
For deodorant, I use a spray bottle of rubbing alcohol. (The goal is to kill the microbes). You could add essential oil if you have some.
Or witch hazel instead of alcohol
I am chemically sensitive. So I make my own soap and my own shampoo bars. I use one of those stone deodorants......they last about two years. I use minimal makeup. I use jojoba oil on my face......a small bottle lasts a long time. I have a bidet. I agree it does not have to be expensive, and keeping it simple will keep the cost down. I use a natural toothpaste and it's probably the most expensive thing I buy. But expensive makeup or expensive skin care......nope, I am not doing it.
You are wonderful! I also don't want people grooming me - I stopped yrs ago. It does feel ridiculous. And I don't like stupid fluffy towels. I use the cheapies too. And they dry quicker!

I buy deodorant like once a month I use it a lot. I work in a hot ass factory. I don't think I could skimp on the deodorant. I'm making sure it is on thick so it'll last the whole eight hour shift and I got some in my locker at work not trying to be stinking.
It's called having respect for your coworkers. Please don't skimp on deodorant.
I have pretty much stopped using anti-perspirant because of the aluminum in it, even though it does work better than deodorant. If I'm not working up a sweat like just going to church, I use deodorant.

I make my own toothpaste out of natural products. MUCH cheaper than any toothpaste. Our dentist was shocked with how clean and healthy our teeth and gums were. I use apple cider vinegar and baking soda to clean my hair. You can buy these in bulk and it’s insanely cheap. All these are cheap and natural without allowing chemicals, phosphates and nitrates on your skin. I use a natural deodorant, but have talked to women who use apple cider vinegar and coconut oil for deodorant and have had great success as well as hormonal healing by not having aluminum and other such rot from commercial deodorants.
Baking soda and white distilled vinegar are excellent for cleaning in our house. LOVE the bidet. ‘Get a bidet!’ 😂😂😂

I've replaced liquid hand soap pump with foam dispenser dilluted at 3:1. We save a TON! I also make my own bar soap with hard and liquid oils that cost a dime (lard is free). Laundry detergent 30 ml per load, no softener. Cleaning with baking soda, citric acid and white vinegar.
I use a rice shampoo bar and it lasts for months, very cost effective. I also use the little laundry soap sheets. A box of 160 lasts me at least 6 months. It takes up almost no space and I don't have to lug around those heavy jugs of soap.
You and my mom would be best friends, she is very frugal never wears make up only uses water and wash cloth for her face care, uses the cheap shampoo and soaps and tp.
She walks everywhere and collects change on her walks, she cares for my brothers dog and helps me care for my husband.
Lemon peel and vinegar let it sit then put in spray bottle. Lemon oil is the bomb mixed with vinager. Cleans my bathroom, kitchen and laundry room.
For an all purpose general cleaner We use vinegar and dilute it with 70% water.?.. it disinfects ❗ use the cheapest vinegar you can find

Interesting thing - since I've switched to bar soap I don't have to use deodorant, even in summer heat. Bar soap is more effective in removing bacteria than body wash. And since most people around me don't use bar soap, I got tons of them for free. Just pick one that doesn't dry your skin.
A lot of people don't think they need deodorant because we can't really smell ourselves that much . But others can. Kinda like when you fart it stinks but it's not that bad . When another person farts you just about throw up from the stench.
Bar soap is also way more cost effective than body wash and you’re not filling the landfills full of plastic bottles. I’ve always been a bar soap girl and I only use it for underarms and private areas. You don’t need to lather up your arms and legs. It dries the skin and it’s just unnecessary because the water from the shower or bath is enough.
@@lovelife7343 I can smell myself perfectly and nothing is wrong, thanks for concern. 😄 Otherwise people around me would tell me verbally and nonverbally. Bar soap is used in hot and humid areas and by manual workers, because its more efficient. I live in moderate climate and work at desk job.
@@mamadoom9724 Ikr, I've calculated the numbers and an average person uses 1000 plastic bottles just of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in his/her lifetime. 🤦 I use body lotion after every shower and also make part of used soap/lotion myself. Homemade soap retains glycerin and is generally milder on skin. More drying soap bars are saved for summer time.

You advice is spot on, my friend! As for the bidet, best thing I've purchased, for sure. I buy toilet paper about once every 6 to 9 months because I use the bidet, but my adult son does not. Some men seem to have a problem following instructions. I explained to him how to use it, and to start off the stream VERY gently. He didn't, and the high-pressure water jet hit a very sensitive area that I do not have.......Needless to say, he doesn't use the bidet....... Regardless, it still saves me a ton on toilet paper!

Your videos are so relaxing and encouraging....we love towels that are smaller @ 24 x 50 inches and not very plush. My washcloths are getting very thin too. I used to think I had to change them both regularly as a decorating statement...so glad I outgrew that! 😅 Love your puppy play at the end! ❤

My favorite bath towels are from Costco. They are less than $10 for a huge soft bath towel. I bought our current set 6 years ago and it is going strong. You can have quality for a minimal price.
I use one part Dawn, one part vinegar, one part water. It is a wonderful multi cleaner. Being it is only me I spray a bit on a plate, bowl, pan - whatever and scrub. Fast easy and the dishes just take a couple minutes. I have hard water and the vinegar in it works wonders.
I have a bidet also, use personal drying clothes that I wash.
I use a similar mixture for my all-purpose/bathroom cleaner (less Dawn). I will try your solution for my dishwashing, thanks.😊
Most people use too much product. An agent orange vet with damaged skin told me he uses shampoo for body wash. I started doing the same. If I ever start wearing mascara again, I won't use the cheapest.

I use Aim too, but I use a binder clip instead of a special thingy to squeeze it all out.
My mom was the queen of frugal. She would cut off the back part of the toothpaste tube when no more could be squeezed out, and then used a popsicle stick to scrape out the rest. She would use a clothes pin to clip over the open end to keep it closed during that time.. I always had REALLY long hair till about 10 years ago and I would take about tablespoon of conditioner into a cup and mix water with it, dip the ends into it so some full strength conditioner would be on them (my hair was more than a yard long) and then swirl it around in the cup and pour the rest through my hair. It worked.
In some countries when they had or have outhouses, they have a ceramic pitcher, with a spout like a teapot more or less. They pour water on the uh, crack, I guess.
Not sure about the rest but if you want to try using water, maybe use an dish soap squeeze bottle rinsed out, and filled with water?

Make your own body scrub with coconut oil and table sugar, throw in some cinnamon or essential oil for scent. It's great, especially in winter, no more dry skin or need for moisturizer or body lotion.

I put my disposable razors in a jar with just enough alcohol to cover the blades...maybe a half inch...I have been using the same one for well over a year.. The idea is that water rusts blade and the alcohol keeps that from happening. I also use a bidet and use family wipes made from old wash cloths. All I am doing is drying off anyway.
Aldi shampoo is amazing 32 oz for $2.69 it is very thick and can be thinned down
It seems that you have to convince us Americans to use a bidet. Mine is not fancy, just a hose that hangs on the side of my toilet, but I love it. I get to feel clean every time. I did invest in some small microfiber type towels to dry off with. Wash and re use. The bidet and towels have already paid for themselves. Family cloth is also great...what if we have another tp shortage? You can get along just fine doing what our grandmothers and great grandmothers did. Wash and re use. People are even harder to convince on family cloth though. Your hair looks great btw.
I use the clothes my kids have grown out of as family cloth. Just cut up in to squares and it lasts forever. Sometimes I look at one particular square and get sentimental! It lasts for 10/15 years before the fabric wears out 😊
I have very old towels and no plan to ever replace them. They are thin (ish) and very absorbent. New towels don't dry well, they feel like you're smearing the water all over. ICK!
I buy my towels second hand. 😂❤
Usually the towels that leaves have polyester in them so you have to buy all cotton towels which have become more expensive
I just love this video! The message is use less, only what you need, don't over do it. Simple. And the bidet ✅ OMG, the money my fam saves by using bidet! About 90% less TP and so much more hygienic.
I use vinegar and Dawn for my cleaning product. I use vinegar as softener. I make my own laundry detergent which lasts 413 loads. All soaps were $28 dollars. And I wish I could get another dog, they could keep each other company.
I also water down shampoos because full strength they're simply too stripping. I spent $20 on clearance-priced, brand name, otherwise pricey razor cartridges that'll last for at least the next few years. Bar soap can be cut in half, melted then put in molds or shredded like block cheese and dissolved in hot water for a liquid soap. I buy kid's body wash from Dollar Tree and use it as both as a shampoo and face wash.
One thing that I am planning to do is to replace all of my beauty products with basic stuff like jojoba oil for face, hair and body moisturizer and Castile soap for body wash and shampoo. You can also use Castile soap for house cleaning and other stuff. Cleaning floors, dog shampoo, hand soap and dish soap etc. It can be diluted to different ratios. Dr. Bronners is not the only brand that makes Castile soap. There are cheaper brands out there and you can buy them by the gallon.

@@KS-jf2jf Yes. If you are using Castile soap for bathing the whole family including your pets and children be sure to avoid the eyes because it can sting. That’s the only thing I don’t like.
I have become suuuuper minimalist when it comes to toiletries - much of it out of laziness and then realising it doesn't make a difference if I use them or not. I'm down to bar soap (always unscented), deodorant (I prefer one with magnesium and no baking soda so it won't bleach my clothes - I use Chapel), mascara (L'Oréal), lip gloss (Lisa Eldridge), sunscreen (MD Solar Sciences), beef tallow (for any sort of moisturising). These are not the cheapest things, but I'm good with it as I don't use shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, most makeup, hair products, toothpaste, mouth wash, razors, etc etc. My life is a little harder because I live in a hard water area, but that just means I use more vinegar than I want to. Without hard water everything is even easier. I always recommend going no shampoo and conditioner for beautiful hair that's so easy without hard water (though there is about a 4 week transition time to get over the greasy period)! I'm also in my early 40s - my 20-something toiletry loving self would be appalled 😂
PS I have totally clean wipes when I eat only meat and fruit. I'm convinced our ancestors didn't ever need to wipe just because they ate the diets our bodies evolved eating, and we can do the same.

I agree. There is no need to spend lots of money to bathe. It is how we properly shower/bathe what matters; not so much the product.
I love my bidet!!! I installed it before my back surgery and it’s been a blessing afterwards, as well! And expensive toilet paper lasts a lot longer. I got all my 5 siblings to buy one too.
I live where it's cold. I use my hair dryer to help dry my body
One of the biggest laundry bulk things defeated! Towels are such a nuisance.
