This video is incredibly helpful. I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome and Marfans (my parents have each but my twin came out with neither lol) and at 13 I was run over by a reckless driver going on the pavement and dislocated the hip after that I was diagnosed with EDS and told my hips were fine and shouldn’t hurt and now 13 years later it took for me taking up a medical sciences degree and radiology degree for me to look at my own images and self diagnose then bring it to them and now Wednesday I see the surgeon. I’m taking codeine, oxycodone and the lowest dose fentanyl patches for my joint pains but the drs somehow thought my hips wouldn’t help even though I blew life savings on physios, osteopaths, private care (we have free care in my country) but the private drs said I was lying and too young for my symptoms. I even saw Nick Cullen from the Stanmore foot and ankle surgeons page and he said my hips were causing my feet problems and so did 12 other doctors but my GP ignoring my concerns refused to do images they needed to treat me further and they’ve refused since 2016 despite more than 30 medical letters asking to 🙃

Great video guys. Once again, timely. I just watched 4 videos including using that band to work out those injuries. Then I immediately came across your video 'Hip Impingement Causes Treatment and Test for FAS' (& this one) advising that you cannot fix bone growth, if the issue has advanced to this stage, but rather calm the area down and/or alleviate the associated tissue inflammation/injury. There is hope here for me yet, as I see your stretching techniques. Just one question: So far, no one has articulated the problem I have and that is that the leg feels really heavy and sore around the rectus femoris and through to the inner thigh (adductor). This results is pain to walk for several minutes, then it settles until I feel no pain and all. It comes and goes, switches on or off and lasts anything from one minute to half hour, sometimes preceded by a pain through the ITB area. What is going on here? I recommenced sprint training two months ago and on two occasions, thought I better not train, however, after training, the (left) leg felt amazing the next day, but relapses days later switching this pain on and off. I have started the friction massage and interestingly (intuitively actually) I was massaging this spot a couple of weeks ago, noting than it brings relief. I am taking celebrex (anti inflammatory) now for 11 days and doctor says keep going with that for a few more weeks. Any advice please ... Do I keep going, not train sprinting (except for rowing machine - cardio) and wait for a few more weeks, or just get an MRI? I am approaching mid fifties and when sprint training for 1500m (90% max), up to 400-800m timed runs, there is no better fulfillment as the freedom is great. I note also the pain is brought on by long periods of sitting down and/or long periods of standing up - never while warmed up and training. Sorry for the long post.

This is the best explanation of FAI I’ve come across. I have been in pain that has progressively gotten worse for about six years now. I was finally diagnosed with FAI and labrum tears in both hips. This problem obviously can’t be stretched or exercised away, but prior to my current diagnosis physical therapy did provide some relief, especially since I started getting aches and pains in other places the longer the issue persisted.
Hopefully once I see the orthopedic surgeon I can have the issue corrected and physical therapy will have a more effective, lasting impact afterwards.

I was told about ten years ago I have hip impingement. Recently out of the blue, I began having upper thigh and groin pain. I couldn't even put pressure on one of my legs. Can that be a hip flexor problem too? Went to the chiropractor and it felt great after the adjustment, but the groin pain is slightly back again. Not sure if this is from the impingement or something else.

I hurt myself while squatting (I made the mistake of readjusting my hip while squatting) and I felt my thigh move/slide forward which caused hip pain and a pinch. I haven’t been able to get rid of the pain when squatting meaning I have to be careful not to slide forward with my hips (just gotta stay straight and go down, and that works without pain). I haven’t been able to find a cure, 10 years later I’m just learning what it could possibly be! The PT did say my hip is slanted slightly forward when laying down. And when I bend my (R) thigh I can feel the pinch. I will try strengthening my hips thank you for the exercises!

ANSWER: Hip impingement can happen for a number of reasons. If left untreated, the pain and other symptoms it causes may get worseas damage to the hip joint increases. ... Generally though, treatment options range from managing symptoms with medication and physical therapy in milder cases to surgery in more severe cases.

Thank you guys, this video was very helpful. I am 24 from the UK. I started having pain in my hips a long time ago, went to the GP and he referred me to a physio. Unfortunately since health in the UK is free, I would have had to wait 6 months just to see a physio, let alone be diagnosed and have surgery. I've been living in China for 2 years now, went to the hospital a year ago, was diagnosed with hip impingement on both sides. Had surgery on one side, since you can't have it on both at the same time. The pain went away on that side, but I still can;t do extreme motions with it or do sports that I want to do safely. So I wasn't motivated to do surgery on the second hip till now, plus it's horrible having surgery, I hate hospitals and needles. Recently though the hip that wasn't operated on is giving me lots of pain. Would you suggest to operate on that one too or just do hip strengthening exercises and avoid sport?

    Very good information.
I have been having issues with my hip area specifically inside (adductors?). I seem to be able to externally rotate my legs, but the internal rotation is difficult and quite uncomfortable. One thing that really bothers me is that I have great difficulty moving my legs across the mid-point line of my body. Seems like something is "pinching" way high up in my groin area. Same thing for "figure 4" when I place my right ankle across my left thigh; same "pinching" sensation. Up until 2-1/2 years ago I could sit cross-legged all the time w/o difficulty/discomfort; now not so. Is this "pinching" indicating hip impingement?
Any videos that might address this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. I've been to physical therapist and orthopedist with it but they didn't help me. When I lay on my back and lower leg something in my lower back and hip jumps. When I squat and raise it also jumps but harder in the same spot. What should I do?

I just recently did a surgery for CAM/Pincer i had it in both legs. The left tho way more irretaded. Well after the surgery it felt so much better. From now its been a month since the operation and ive already started to work. And the doctors did advice me not to but what can happend really if something goes wrong? I belive that active rehabitation is better... i already been working for a week and i can say that i feel some of a pain in the hip but after all the exercises and the stretch it feels good again. But there is a feeling that takes longer to disappear and there is in the inner side of the thigh. Its more or less burns quite alot
Help me ive tried forums and even doctors but no one can really give me a good reason not to work...?
And thank you for the vids aswell they are very helpful. You guys talks in a way that i can understand...

Great vid guys. I agree with what you said about a lot of people misdiagnosing this. To add to what you said I always figured if the psoas tendon/bursa gets swollen, inflammed or irritated it would be responsible for a large amount of these "femoroacetabular impingement" diagnoses. Maybe its just a psoas impingement in many cases

What about IFI... the surgical ramifications are serious, compromising the psoas, but not taking action to correct the impingement destroys the muscle that is impinged upon. Help!

Always shut off "auto focus", especially when shooting closeups. Notice that the backwall is in focus, while the skeleton is not in focus, and then the other way, back and forth. That's autofocus not working well. Use manual focus to keep focus on the actual subject you are shooting, either photographing and/or videography.

I had an MRI done on my left hip and it came back saying a small amount of joint fluid in the femoral acetabular joints bilaterally, can you please explain what this means?

So yeah, i've got true hip impingement according to these tests. Doesn't affect me much except for when excercising and i've been doing a lot of stretching to get rid of it. Maybe i've just been aggrevating it even more?
