Hi Corey, Caleb's name in Hebrew is כָּלֵב which should be transliterated as Kalev or Calev but not Caleb as it is in our English bibles. On the other hand, dog in Hebrew is spelled as כֶּלֶב which is transliterated as Kelev. The placement of vow markers is what makes Caleb's name not dog. The two are spelled with the same consonents but are different words altogether and this is common with most Hebrew words. Just thought I point that out as a matter of correction. Hi Corey, Caleb's name in Hebrew is כָּלֵב which should be transliterated as Kalev or Calev but not Caleb as it is in our English bibles. On the other hand, dog in Hebrew is spelled as כֶּלֶב which is transliterated as Kelev. The placement of vow markers is what makes Caleb's name not dog. The two are spelled with the same consonents but are different words altogether and this is common with most Hebrew words. Just thought I point that out as a matter of correction. He tested her to bring her through a process of exercising faith and as an example and object lesson to the Jewish witnesses. What is the difference between blasphemy and heresy?
In my opinion blasphemy is open ridicule of God or His work. Heresy is something in my opinion that people BELIEVE to be true about God or His work, and can either mean well or not.
Someone saying Jesus was a screw-up is blasphemy.
Saying we are permanently sinless because of Jesus’ sacrifice would be heresy.
Both are equally bad but I think context determines which it is.
Blasphemy is a statement, while heresy is a teaching. Both can contain each other, but as the other guy said context is key to the difference. Example: Jesus eats breakfast tacos with bacon and eggs everyday while in likeness of flesh would be a blasphemous statement due to the violations on the law of Moses. While Heresy would be teaching people that Jesus was not God in human flesh because you are going against the teaching that Jesus spoke about in relation to himself and the Father. Hopefully, between us, we made that clearer for you.

I finally recognize that false teachers feel comfortable saying such blasphemous things about Jesus because they fundamentally don't understand WHY it was necessary for Jesus to become God INCARNATE, live a sinless life as fully HUMAN under the Law, and then die an unmerited death as fully HUMAN in our place. They seem to think His humanity made Him just like humans in every way while it was only Him remaining fully God that made our salvation possible. It's wild to me that they pridefully believe they can shepherd others in a Gospel faith and yet not understand that Jesus sacrificed His blameless life in a legal exchange for imperfect human lives who deserve God's wrath and condemnation.
