  • Ready for some closed-back headphones with solid bass and a crisp overall sound? Tech expert Dave Taylor of www.AskDaveTay... checks out the Meze Audio 99 NEO Closed Back Headphones and finds that they're a solid option for wired headphones. Indeed, they might have a bit too much bass for some listeners but there's still lots to like, including the excellent build quality and overall luxurious studio feel.

I just ordered these. I love the positive mood of your reviews. Too many reviewers tend to focus a lot on negative aspects which I'm getting tired of. Thanks for the review!

Thanks. I try to have balanced reviews so I'll talk about what could be better, but I also try to give credit where it's due. 🙂

Having owned a pair of these for some weeks now: The sound quality is really good but you should not be moving around much since the metal band does pick up on such movements and cause disturbances. My own solution to ensure portability was to combine them with the Audiolab M-DAC Nano portable BT DAC and ironically, the cord is actually a tad too long for comfort with that.

Such adorable looking headphones! It’s pronounced “Mezz-A” I believe... I’ve almost picked up this set a couple of times

Was going back and forth on the pronunciation, actually. Since they're out of Romania, I just have no idea how a Romanian would pronounce "Meze" :-)

Hey Dave, in your opinion which sounds better this or the Sennheiser Momemtum 3? Pure sound quality wise, not comparing prices of both.
    Thank you!

Apples to apples I really like the Sennheiser sound signature and the Momentum 3 are still a go-to pair of headphones for me.

hd280 looks rly cheap compared to meze, I personally own wooden ones, what I can say is that they are not for every kind of music without equalizer because bass is too strong at times
