En route to the honeymoon of William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) to Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) on her home planet of Betazed, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise receive energy readings identical to those uniquely emitted by the positronic brain of android crew member Data (Brent Spiner). Upon investigation, they discover the disassembled parts of an identical android named B4, an early prototype of Data himself, now scattered on the surface of a remote world. As they reassemble B4, the crew receives word from Starfleet that a coup has resulted in the installation of a new Romulan political leader, Shinzon (Tom Hardy), who claims to seek d

Data was more human than anyone else on the Enterprise. His death showed that humanity. He always did strive to be human, but in the end, he was shown to have already accomplished that. His death was powerful. Every single fan of Data must have bawled their eyes out when this happened. You always cry when B4 sings at the end. The writers did a terribly beautiful thing in this movie.
And everyone saw the pain in Picard's eyes at 1:54 didn't they? I saw it.

I feel like Data has been misunderstood, even by the show's writers.
They keep saying Data was unemotional. I disagree. If you consider an emotional reaction to preferring one outcome over the other, Data had plenty of emotion. He had opinions and made decisions in a way that a purely logical computer would never have done.
I think it's more accurate to say he didn't understand the context of his emotions because he lacked that programming. He had feelings, but they didn't make sense to him. He needed his friends and experiences to fill those gaps.

1:48 basicaly data's dark humor part was comming through already. And yes in THE OG CANON WICH IS STILL STAR TREK ONLINE AS THE MAKERS, PARAMOUNT AND STAFF DECLEARED WAAAAY BACK IN ITS BETA, B4 took over all of Data AND got command of the E shortly after, vanishing with her never to be seen again. Shortly after it was 2400 already and plans for the odyssey and others where set into motion to replace the E and be compeatable 1v1 with the scimitar class (wich the Odyssey totaly is)

    You spelled Spock wrong.
And JJ wasn't trying to match it, he was trying to make an alternate universe, which succeeded. He was trying to introduce a younger generation to Star Trek, so that they might go back and see the Original Series, and love it.

The only bad thing about this movie is that it was the last one!! Movie owned as much as all the rest of the TNG movies. Hopefully we will see more of them one day, with something like star trek titan.

I wish there was one more TNG movie after this in 2004/5. Not that this movie is a bad final, just they didn't expect to end it here. Heck TOS got 6 ish flims, TNG should have gotten 5.
Heck, maybe it could be TNG plus other casts from other series (as much as possible) to all end togerther, like have Deep Space 9, Voyager, etc.
