It looks like he wasn’t gripping the ball right with his right hand. It almost looks like a knuckle ball with no or very little backspin. You won’t make too many shots by shooting line drive style. You need the ball to be more above the rim.

People complaining about how Shaq doesn't have shooting form... dude was UNSTOPPABLE in the paint for a majority of his career.. he had no real need to form a jump shot until later in his career, but by then he was already struggling with his weight anyways and honestly should've retired by then, but he was ring chasing.
Regardless, that's like asking why someone who does nothing but shoot 3 pointers all game doesn't have a better post-up game. Being an all-around player is one thing, but when you're in the NBA, you only really need to be good at certain things.. and Shaq was very good at certain things. (Post finishes, dunks, blocks, rebounds, shutting down the paint, etc.)

My God. He missed all of those free throws and he still scored 40 points. He needed more arc on his shot. His arc was a line drive. He had one of the highest field goal percentages of all time but yet one of the worst free throw shooters.

What are you talking about? yes he will.
He was getting fouled almost in every position but he didn't want to shot freethrows, thats why he didn't complain to the ref, he had a meeting with David Stern to ban the hack a shaq or he will punch the next one to do it but David said that he has 29 teams complaining about you. So if Shaq actually knew how to shot freethrows, he will get more freethrows. Look at Embiid now, he gets silly fouls just because he wants to shot freethrows and he gets to the line more than 10 times a game!!@@darthhorror0HD
