I've been trying to use the phone notification and it never worked correctly for me which is probably why there discontinuing it
Gu gu ga ga
if banter didn't disconnect every 15 minutes it would be tolerable. otherwise the controls are mid and the lack of options/ customization sucks. otherwise fps and latency are nice.
dang
Thanks so much for your hard work and dedication to our community 🎉
As much as I dislike Meta as a company, their support is unsurpassed. My 2nd hand Quest 2 got the usual "burn out the USB-C" port, I contacted Meta, they replaced the headset, no questions asked.
Bigscreen and Valve surpass Meta support by quite a bit.
they've been horrible with the store though, I have money from gift cards on my account, but not enough for a game without a promo, but with a promo I can buy it, but it doesn't let me because I don't have enough for the game.
@@RidgeXR_2saying valve has better support shows you haven’t been through their support system
Coming from a big valve fan btw
@@kingblitz1415Sounds like you’re just broke

New subscriber here - just dropping into the comments to say thanks for wrapping up VR news into such a digestible video. I follow VR across a bunch of subreddits and groups and websites yet you consistently provide the most well-condensed talking points in an entertaining way. Love to see it
Hey thank you so much!!!! I appreciate it!!
@@ThrillSeekerVRI 2nd this. I've tried to watched a couple of other videos about this update and they struggle to be digestible enough to keep my interest and you nail it every time
Temperature immersion, that’s a new one for me. I imagine that being useful for day / night differentiation, weather, or using a tool / weapon that heats up during use. Maybe even to indicate an injury or being hit by something.
I have tried a few little temperature haptic modules before and I don't mean to sound hyperbolic or exaggerative, but I firmly believe that temperature feedback is a WAY bigger deal for immersion than even vibration feedback.
@@ThrillSeekerVR Oh wow, really? I never had the chance to try it out but I always felt that it'd be cool (pun-intended) but that's about it. Interesting!
@@ThrillSeekerVRsome drive wheels are using temp feedback to communicate speed changes.
Dude with temperature you barely even need actual haptic feed back, for example if you hug something hot or cold, it will feel like your hugging it even though nothing is pressing on your body. Also it’s makes you actually feel like your in a world instead of just seeing it.
With everyone hooking up their heating/ac system to apps these days, it could be very doable.
Finally an actually Tuesday Newsday
Bro 😂
Right after a friday newsday too!
Caught me off guard lol
this video came out 15 minutes before Wednesday in my timezone
But it was at close call
Fluid Reality is getting us close to Ready Player One levels of immersion.
I wanna try them out so bad!
No but genuinely
@@ThrillSeekerVRi don't have a VR headset😢
Huh, that haptic glove solution looks pretty interesting in terms of finger texture, I wonder how that could work with the force-feedback of the LucidVR haptic gloves that you covered a while back. Combining fingertip texture and force feedback would be extremely immersive.
Imagine the quality or VR pr0n with that kind of thing, especially with the advance of AI imagery
@@Uryendelloser ass thing for your mind to jump to first dawg 😭
Just something to note from the Fluid Reality paper: they estimate the cost could go as low as $150/glove if brought to the levels of production where you'd see them on store shelves! (I was the one who brought the paper to thrill's attention in the discord lmao)
They could in theory be combined with existing feedback modalities once they scale down the ribbon cables and overall size of the driving electronics (also mentioned in the paper)
@@geoterra9478$150 a glove for that kind of haptic quality? Hard to believe we might be heading towards that future, but it's so exciting that it's even possible!
This honestly makes me wonder if the "texture" would be good enough to function for Braille or without me googling to see if there is already something like this in place. I know it would not seem as useful as a VR tech until we can simulate seeing via different brain interfaces to help those that are blind.
3:39 The boundary issues are NOT just a you problem. Had the Quest 2 for about a year now, it is really annoying when issues like that happen, and replacing the whole thing can get annoying fast. Glad to see they are being fixed.
That fluid reality glove was an idea I had in the 90s after I played Dactyl's Revenge in the mall :) Glad to see it only took 30 years...but we're almost there!
we need haptic shoes to feel the sensation of stepping on Legos
slowly there, satan
😂😂
I remember a dream I had where someone threw a fireball at me, I had barely dodged it and I remember feeling the heat passing by me, I woke up right after but the sensation that remained made me feel incredible "I dodged of a real fireball." first and last time I felt temperature in a dream, I would like to feel something similar in vr
Always gotta love Tuesday Newsday! keep up the good work ThrillSeeker!!
I agree
Great job!
These gloves look cool
Doubly so when it comes out on Tuesday.
"Not even Meta can access your data"
_Intense Doubt_
Always dropping that dope research. Much appreciated Thrill.
So glad it's actually Tuesday this time. Keep up the good work man
I have been watching your channel for a little less than three years now and i gotta say, no matter how much you change your video style, you always manage to give us information on vr news in a fun way. Im glad you are getting the subs you deserve for your obvious hard work and i look forward to seeing how much bigger you will become :) ik thrill wont see this but even if your videos arent funny gameplay like Smii7y, you kept me going through some dark places. Thank you
nice developments, thank you for sharing!
Thank you talking about all these news! They were very very interesting.
Great video Thrill. You rock!
The haptic gloves sound amazing. Its not cheap, but that's such a huge leap I'd probably still buy them once they are fleshed out. So cool.
That's the super early pre-alpha concept price, when/if they get these developed into a consumer VR product they'll probably be about half the price currently. I hope they do custom sizing tho, some of us have monster hands.
diver x gloves allready do this for like 500 bucks..
Yeah, I think it’ll be very affordable in a couple years time! Just depends on how long it takes for them to find the right balance of parts , labor and cost.
I don't have a VR headset and never have had one. But thanks to your videos i can follow the news about the tech and releases for it. Thanks Thrill!
Been following for years now!
Great Tuesday Newsday! All these advancements in immersion for the VR industry is really awesome to see.
They'll definitely help to realize my dream of creating the ultimate VR room in the future. Can't wait to see what comes next Thrill 👍
Excellent video, perfect summary of the weeks news.
Cant wait for huge performance updates for quest 3. We all know they will eventually show up
We want numbers to go vrrrrrrr
Dude the intro is always so clean!
also your not alone i never remmember which one is x
I think a 2023 VR News Recap Would Be Pretty 🔥
Idea: Haptic socks where you simulate stepping on Legos.
Noooo. The phone notifications feature was so useful!! Literally the only reason I could comfortably use my headset without worry
Meta really has unparalleled support for their old headsets. My Quest 1 has been on life support for the last 2 years and the fact that it can handle Air Link with little to no issue running PCVR games has me really excited for the future of their headsets. I'll be getting my hands on a Quest 3 soon and I can finally put my Quest 1 to rest.
The Quest 2 has better controller tracking. Our Quest 3s have such terrible hand tracking even after several updates, might actually be a hardware issue so you might want to wait a bit and see if it gets fixed
always love these news videos!
Interesting because when I got my elite strap right off the bat for my quest 2 when that came out mine broke in a similar fashion to thrills, not snapping on the arms
7:00 OOOF. That hurts. You made that meme dark, yet somehow hilarious at the same time.
Love the work you do for vr
Banter is pretty dope so far!
Great vid as always Thrill :3
much love all!
Makes my week every tuesday newsday
4:03 This sounds really sketchy, like making a 3D map of your home. God knows meta will probably sell this information
You’re not wrong to be skeptical about it
This is how they can afford to subsidize the headset. Problem is that for a lot of people floor plans are findable anyways (e.g. condo+public contractor info). Unless you built it yourself of course. Its hard to know how these consequences will pan out 10-20 years down.
fluid reality was at AWE this past year. all they had setup was the finger pad running through a few demos but it was really compelling.
This is awesome! :)
the lego game and the fluid gloves sound like a match made in heaven
Thanks!
Yeah, I had the won't charge issue with the elite battery strap myself. It's a bummer too, the comfort was great, now I gotta find something else.
I wish I had a vr headset to join the party. I'm spending all of Christmas by myself
You should do another “The ULTIMATE Oculus Quest 3 Setup”
Every time I hear the vive/index controllers ON sound, I feel something. Good job using the sound in ur intro. Keep up with what you like doing. 😎👌
Tuesday newsday makes life better
Thanks
Your videos are bangers keep moving forward
I love your buzzcut. You have a good face / head shape for that look and you really rock it
So I actually bought a quest 3 yesterday. Set it up last night and hopefully will get to dive into it tomorrow afternoon. I hope it's worth it lol.
love the video man thank you. is your music on spotify??
ill be sure to check banter out
Great Video!
It gives some goosebumps even while watching this video! One can only imagine that feeling of touching and experiencing e all that😜
can't wait for VR shoes, so i can feel stepping on VR legos
Love the vertigo 2 gameplay in the backround, that game needs more attention.
2:46 I had an idea while watching this. I'm sure there's a good reason why it hasn't been done yet, but what about just having ferrofluid in the sacs and using electromagnets to actuate them? No need for a mechanically complex pump if you can just change the shape of the fluid through a handful of magnets
Woah TIL one of my senior project partners in college went on to co-found fluid reality, small gloves small world!
I was expecting to hear your take on RE4 coming to PSVR2 in just a few days! I'm so excited.
finally this man is back. im so happy
Great content as always--and fear not, you are not the only button peeker!
Congrats on the 700k subscribers
Hey, that world at 7:00 is my homeworld! One of my favorite VRC places for sure.
6:55 I have the elite battery straps for both Q2 and Q3 launch dates. Never had any issues. People who had them break that was mishandling them. User error.
Its tuesday love your videos thrill
i love tuesday newsday!
Woah caught it early!!!!
I got an htc vive audio deluxe strap on my quest 3.. really great idea
Haven't seen meme break in a while. Didn't realize it would come back so dark lmao
I feel like the fluid reality tech could be implemented for use in braille in smartphones for the visually impaired, if the tech gets implemented properly
YOU USED THE GABEN SAYING FROM THE INTERVIEW!!! YESSS TURN IT INTO A MEME!!! WOOOOOOOOOO
Glad to see theyre still supporting and upgrading the quest series. I always love seeing my quest homies get a boost.
Now if only the $1000 pro had a decent mic for social VR or "meetings and productivity" since that was their marketing pitch. Had to get a refund and send mine back so i can get an index instead. Quest 2 is still the king of standalone.
Quest 2 is good, quest 3 is a bit better
I got the battery strap on launch with the Quest 3, been solid so far, but we'll see....
Just got my quest 3 today 🎉 in time for the update! 🎉
Also not sure if you forgot it but the Vive Ultimate trackers are out. So far they only work with the XR Elite and focus but they said it’s supposed to be supported for more headsets in a few weeks
I have them and the tracking in good lighting condition is on point same if not better than the V3 Trackers (better because less loss LoS because of objects in my room).
Also I am now able to use FBT in a bigger space in my living room as previously with my basestations there was no way to mount them without having cables everywhere.
3:48 "ready to beat some sabers" 💀
This makes the week 27x better ngl
The only Tuesday Newsday ever to be on a tuesday
If your hand was the size of a house, you could still feel something the size of an ant. Our fingers are VERY sensitive, so I get the feeling those gloves are just the start. Heck of a proof of concept, though!
Those liquid reality haptic gloves are incredible and I'm so excited for them, especially at that insane price point! I actually had to pause when I saw "raspberry pi" in the schematics because I was so excited.
Omg i cant wait to go to your party!!! Ive been wanting to meet for a really long time!!! 🎉
Into the radius 2 also now has a steam page up!
A TUESDAY NEWSDAY! I'm so gonna watch this... Tomorrow. :) gonna sleep now.
people been trying to do the liquid filled button thing for a long time, their was a company demoing it at CEW 2013 for a tablet
I know this is a bit off topic, but the last game clip made me really crave a VR Signalis game. It would be cool to see the low poly semi pixel style in VR.
Think you'll cover the Vive Ultimate Tracker?
what do you think of something similar to DLSS with frame gen coming to standalone VR?
cant wait til that type a glove tech comes into more consumer stuff. also that temperature thing is very interesting! all this new tech is very cool and gets me exited for the future
I wonder how long those fluid haptics are good for, knowing that eventually flexible materials eventually wear out, unless of course it returns to the original shape using vacuum.
I bought a 65 dollar strap off Amazon for like 50 bucks on Black Friday at the same time i bought my Quest 3, and I'm so glad I did. Only used the original strap for a couple hours, and it's so much worse than the Quest 2.
There are good, affordable straps that keep the Quest 3 running for hours, they just aren't made by Meta.
i never miss a video 💪
What kind of lighting do you need to get the best Quest 3 tracking & performance?
I'm fine with delays for quality reasons for sure too
love the videos
First time Ive watched one of these on a Tuesday I think
3:18 ok I'm new to vr but i thought it was only me that couldn't figure out which button was which
Can't believe were getting Friday News Days 3 days early!
The meme was awesome!
finally on a tuesday LOL
Hey Thrill. What do you think of Resonite? I don't see many people talking about it, which is a shame cause it's an incredible piece of VR software. If you remember Neos, you'll know what I'm talking about. Resonite is being developed by the same people that made Neos, except for that one guy that put crypto into it.
So yeah, Resonite is essentially Neos, but without crypto and I feel like it needs more coverage. The team behind it deserves it.
Resonite is awesome! I haven't spent much time in it though as I've been in unity more than in games lately, but i did hop into resonite for a while and its basically neos but better which is awesome!
