It's nice that Mai called out Kaiba on his selfishness.
What I was NOT expecting was to see Kaiba counter with logic that actually made sense while ALSO having him acknowledge that Marik had magical powers.
It feels like he acknowledged the magical powers just so he can tell mai off with even more logical arguments about binding the guy to a card game rules
Yugi and Jaden bonding over their BS drawing abilities is heartwarming and hilarious.
Everyone worries about a bricked hand. Jaden and Yugi/Atem in this one moment, want the opposite.

Jaden actually had a few bricks(very few, but I can remember more than two instances where it happened) in his career, he just made them work, or his opponent bricked with him. Meanwhile I can only count in one hand the number of times I could vaguely remember that Yugi bricked, and I'm pretty sure it was only for once or twice.
Jaden getting the respect he deserves of being treated seriously is so nice.
It always feel like he’s the butt of all the jokes online or treat him like he’s season 1-2 Jaden.
Keep up the great work, it warms my heart to see Yugioh characters get some respect that the main series usually don’tZ

Plus, Mai, Joey, Yugi and Kaiba would probably have wanted to take him out themselves anyway. Sure it sounds good in hindsight, but let's say Kaiba HAD told Mai: "Guess what, you get a free buy because Marik is disqualified." Would he pride REALLY have accepted that? Or would her duelist spirit have demanded he be reinstated just so that she could beat him herself?

Let's be fair, Marik needed to duel to win, it's said that he couldnt obtain any other way so Kaiba is really confident that if Marik lost he could just go in a killing spree
I'm mad that it made sense, because Kaiba was aware of the BS and chose the best route to keep most people safe.

God I love how human these conversations can sound. Aside from the inherent irony that these are AI voices, it's also nice to see these characters in more mundane situations that sound so natural.
The Ai voices and editing are both really good but what puts this over the top for me is the Writing. Big Ups to the writing for being so good
The interactions are what I expected from Duel Links
Freaking adore how well you write Kaiba, Joey, and Jaden especially. You get everyone pretty much perfect but something about those 3 is on a whole other level.
Especially how Kaiba was willing to have the discussion about Marik with Mai but the moment she said he put Mokuba's safety second to his pride he threw her out. Whether or not Mau is right, and theres arguments to be made both ways, Seto would absolutely lose whatever was left of his cool at that.
Pushing the Mokuba Button is the LAST thing you should do when you argue with him.
I love these. I love Kaiba. I love Ishizu and Mai and Alexis. I love how Atem is the hilarious scumbag that he actually is. How everyone is aware of how Yugioh somehow causes illiteracy in literate people. Everything is so good. I'm really curious to see what you would do with Yusei beating people up instead of just dueling all the time. 5Ds was a trip.

That was me, until I got to Pendulum.
Definitely me, granted I had like no friends to play with around that time, moved to a new town, etc etc. Then I popped back in around late pendulum/early Link. God, I was so fucking lost, specially seeing so many 10+ minute combos...and it's only gotten worse.

Kaiba would just roast Crowler saying how his ancient gear golems are just some 3000 attack point knock-offs of his blue-eyes and how he (Crowler) couldn't even beat one of his students.
Evil Pegasus is such a fun villain. I like him as a good guy, but he truly excels at being evilly camp.
There's a LOT going on here, and I've been hyper-focussing on this plot for a while now, so I'll just highlight some of the stuff I loved real quick:
- I always forget about Mai's old perfume schtick. Aster fanboying over that is hilariously adorable.
- Because he's one of GX's three Kaiba clones, I never really thought about how similar Chazz is to Joey before today. Clever pairing.
- Thank you for giving Ishizu some bite. Love her character, but given her brothers, seeing her pop off more would be fun. Sassy Ishizu is Best Ishizu.
- The fact that you made the Golden Eggwich a genuine plot device in a time distortion plot is wonderful.
- I consistently find myself impressed with how well you write Kaiba. Whether in the proper anime or the Abridged Series, the already awesome Seto Kaiba is at his absolute best when he's "aware". Between the heart-to-heart with his brother, his back and forth with Mai, Ishizu, and Yugi, or the fact that you wrote a genuinely plausible excuse for him putting up with Marik's nonsense in Battle City, it is very clear you're passionate about the source material, and as a Kaiba fanboy myself, it is VERY appreciated.
- I genuinely love the fact that everyone just accepts that Pegasus is equal parts the biggest contributor, and the biggest menace, to society.

Aster. If you disagree (not saying you do, but I've had this talk before), consider this. Every series has at least one Duel where the protagonist tag teams with their "Kaiba". Yugi with Kaiba, Yusei with Jack, Yuma with Kite, and Yuya with Declan. Neither Chazz nor Zane have teamed with Jaden (that I know of) but Aster has. Additionally, moreso than either of the other two, Aster goes out of his way the most to TRY and be the next Kaiba. Chazz and Zane are Kaiba-like just 'cause they are. Aster actively goes out of his way to be Kaiba 2.0 amongst his peers.

As a Seto fan boy myself I couldn't agree more. I think my favorite bit was how the moment Mai said he put his pride before Mokuba's safety he threw her out. That's what broke his patience.
lowkey, if there happens to be another tag duel in the future, I'd like to see the banter between Chazz and Joey. Get the feeling they'd get along after a while
Is Chazz the Fusion of Joey and Kaiba but Diluted? what could a Kaiba and Joey fusion achieve if at full undiluted potential?
No lie, but if they ever made a new anime I would love if they had Joey return as something like a Mentor character to the new protagonist to show how a once mediocre duelist became a pro.
Or basically all the wacky shenanigans. Yuzu whacking Yuma or Chazz with her paper fan. Jack, Chazz, Seto and Sylvio's Ego causes the world to have an imbalance and is weighed down by gravity.

I just noticed the silhouette behind the Duel Academy symbol, nice to see various characters showing up in the series as well as the portraits reflecting their tones.
This has been a really fun ride! Love Aster and Mai’s little moment, love how Mai’s handling all the high stakes of their world, the little rivalry if Joey and Chazz, Mokuba and Syrus hitting it off, just alot of great character interactions!

These interactions continue to be gold, and I can absolutely see these as things the characters could really talk about.
Also, if Kaiba didn’t have a one-track mind I’d almost sense romantic tension between him and Ishizu lol. Super excited for YuGiOh Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun! (Or whatever the Duel Monsters equivalent would be called lol)

I always wondered why people wanted Kaiba to turn the known psychopath loose when despite his serial killer personality he was for the most part obeying the rules. Literally the only people who could have stopped him were Yugi, Kaiba, or Joey and conveniently they, along with all the other duelists who could have stood a chance, were on the blimp with him.

For some reason, I forgot the Ojamas exist. I was very confused until I remembered that and I only remembered them when Chazz referred to them as fodder. My opinion of the Ojamas has just been exposed.
I liked when Yubel showed up though. I hope Yubel gets more lines in the future, because I'd like to see your take on what they're like now that they've fused with Jaden. You're always spot-on with pretty much everyone.

OK SO THE STAKES JUST GOT HIGH. NGL, I watched this while I was eating my food like it was the latest episode of my favorite show, and honestly? I'm loving all of this! The best part? It's a lot of really unique character interactions and social commentary (on their world) that is actually quite fascinating.
This is what I was hoping for in Duel Links.

Wasn't he stuck in Duel Spirit Limbo where he went off to the Amazoness village, marrying the Amazoness Tiger that transformed into a muscle mommy and ended up eternally trapped in Isekai snu-snu by his own volition?
Iirc Bastion was close to coming up with an equation that could transport people out of the dark dimension when Duel Academy was stuck there. Probably just finished it whole Season 4 was happening and can just hop dimensions now

Another wonderful episode. I loved kaiba's over reaction and his debate with Mai. I also think Mokuba dragging kaiba and zane back into interacting with each other is neat. It'd be cool if bastion seeking help with his draws evolves past a one off too. Really I can't think of a bad scene and i'm hyped for Bakura even if the fanbase thinks he is second rate because he only ever jobs.

In the kaiba and mai argument, kaiba brought up a very good point I didn't think about. Yami marik could've killed kaiba, took his god card and dueled yugi if simply murdering him didn't work but chose to follow the rules. Their lives were in his hands and instead of taking any opportunity to execute his plan, he plays a children's card game.
I wanna give him villain points for that but it snowballed into a loss for him.
If he tried to kill any of yugi's friends or kaiba, Yami would probably go season zero on his ass and instead of using his dueling knowledge to win a game shuffleboard with rollerblading and nitroglycerin involved.
