Russia's geography is excellent. Firstly Geography is study of the Earth- Russia is the largest country geographically.
Secondly- When we studied geography in high school we studied natural resources- we have one of the largest petroleum and natural gas reserves in the world in Russia.
Geography also studies food production- Russia has the Steppes which produces ample food for Russia. The country is one of the largest exporters of wheat in the world.
The geography of Russia has stopped many invading armies in its tracks.
The Ural Mountains have ample natural resources. Russia has access to the Arctic Sea which is becoming accessible due to global warming and it has ample natural resources.

Alright, but what about that most of land in russia is frozen, what about the ocean acces? By baltic sea, fully controlled by nato, black sea? Same problem as in baltic, what about the acces to ocean in asia? It is too far from the majority of population etc. Having the largest country is not everything, if u have these problems

@@ageronerd2.080Most of their land is frozen that is a blessing for Russia, it wasn't frozen, they could not colonise them in the first place, a region with people who doesn't want Russian would have always resisted Russian. Until Artic ocean warms up, there are problems for navigation, when it does warms up, Russia would be one of the most lucky country. Think about a country which controls entirety of northern sea route.

Russia has the eastern Kamchatka peninsula bordering the warmer and deeper Pacific. It is also very remote and the southern part os open and distant enough from Japan and the US to remove meaningful indirect interference. If they were to connect it with the rest of Russia and set up ports there, they could do pretty decent.

America ranks very high on most things
The city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky also has sea water regularly above 30 degrees which means sea ice is less common or not an issue there. Only if larger ice bergs from farther up the coast reach down there or winds blow local ice into the sea would it be an issue. Russia also has Murmansk which is a reliably ice free port.
The more I thought about it, Russia has both good, and bad geography at the same time.
The good things about it: Resources, winter*, the steppes, size*, and the urals*
The bad side about it: winter*, imbalance in population density, ethnic diversity, the urals*, size*, lack of warm water ports
