- In this video, 'Ghostly Stories from Blenheim Palace', Kevin Hicks shares some of his personal tales from his time working at the Palace where he performed as a Redcoat Soldier from the Battle of Blenheim 1704; a ghostly story from a Halloween event, and a special trip down into the crypt beneath the palace.

it’s stories like these that i hope inspire you to one day write a memoir so that your funny anecdotes live on forever. you’re sure to get interest from a publisher due to being so interesting as a performer

Gosh I laughed when you said all the carpenters saw was a bloke coming out in a redcoat and musket !! I bet they legged it and screamed themselves silly. How long was it before those ladies spoke to you again ? hahahaha These two stories were priceless hahahaha

I took my lad to the Rollwright Stones today a bit strange
I went up there one with divining rods......they go berserk up there
Yeah we didn't stay long as we are having such a heatwave, but it good to hear a child about 7ish tell her parents about the stones which gives hope for ppl who like history

Re your John Churchill story, my historical heroine is Anne Boleyn, imagine how thrilled I was to be able to take part in an historical reenactment, at Hever Castle, and, at the same time have the experience of my first visit there. At the end of the working day I went to visit Hever's church where Sir Thomas, Anne's father is buried, however, I came out towards it, from behind a grave stone (in 16th century apparel), there was a gentleman standing by the gate of the church, he turned and looked at me, and must have decided he would go in another time, or perhaps he had a pressing engagement because he moved very quickly.

Very entertaining stories Kevin - great fun! The 1st Duke of Marlborough is also a particular hero of mine and the Palace is magnificent. I attended a family wedding there some years back - a most memorable occasion.
