I didn’t always agree with President Carter’s policies, but this was a heartwarming show. I wish the best to him and the First Lady and Paula.

I remember my mom wanted me to watch this episode because I did report on Jimmy Carter right around the same time. They almost feel like he’s an older brother and she’s younger sister they really have a genuine friendship between each other. must be that southern charm

#39. Love him! Thanks for your service, President Carter. I have been following your friend, President Joe Biden, in the White House. He is doing such a remarkable job handling this pandemic. Joe said so many wonderful things about you. We miss you so much and we are so blessed that you are still with us. I hope we can talk to each other sometime. Stay safe and be well. God bless you. By the way, I like fried chicken and mashed potatoes too, you're my kind of guy!

7/24/21...Really enjoyed this one....Maggie's chicken looked so good made me want some.....all the food looked great and you could tell you both really enjoyed her cooking..... great seeing President Carter....he looked great..... where was the First Lady ? Would have loved to see her..... Paula your Gorilla bread and Scones looked wonderful too.....I have made this bread but not like you do.....I want to try it again and make it like this....it looked so much better than when I made it....maybe because I didn't use a stick of butter.....but I am a butter girl myself....my kids always laugh at me for eating so much butter.....I can eat it by itself.....I do love my butter.....:)

I'm with that country cook woman, put some seasonings in it!!!
When I was an itty-bitty youngun and stayed with my grandparents for a good while, I so much wanted something to do and they wouldn't give me no chores to do cause they thought I was too little.
Well, my papa loved some cornbread and buttermilk.
So I got on nanie's nerves until she decided to let me churn the buttermilk, only doing so because she thought I'd get tired and give it up in no time.
Every now and then she'd ask if it was getting harder for me to churn and I'd say no, so she'd keep on with her own kitchen chores.
By the time she figured my little arms had enough time to churn buttermilk or she had enough time to finish it, she asked if it was getting hard to churn yet, I said yeah, she took the lid off the churn and looked over at papa and said she's done made butter!!!
It was so funny because she didn't think I had it in me to churn buttermilk, much less butter.
It was a big churn and I had to sit in a highchair to churn it, so there was quite a bit of butter and no buttermilk.
Nanie was sitting at the supper table wondering what in the world to do with all that butter, wanting to give it away but not wanting to give out all of her covered dishes with it.
I asked what they used to wrap store bought butter with and she said some kind of wax paper, so I just pointed at the baking counter where the wax paper was, and even though she wasn't sure if it would hold up like the store bought stuff, it did and everybody in the family and every neighbor got some of the first butter I ever churned.
After that, not near as much argument about me being too little to do some things, though every time I churned buttermilk after that she watched it like a hawk.
Then one day she pulled out an old glass tabletop churn and let me use it.
It was interesting to watch the transformation from milk to buttermilk to butter, but it was a lot faster spinning the paddles on that thing, and pretty soon I'd be asking for something else to do.

I can't believe she made canned biscuits for the former President. He didn't seem to impressed with her scones either.
