I used to buy & sell bx19 diesels in the early 1990’s from Birmingham Car Auctions, loads about with high mileage’s nothing less than 300,000 & all drive brilliantly& started on the button, much underrated car, 50+ mpg, smooth drive, loved the early ones with the indicator switch on top of the dashboard & the speedo used to go round like a barrel lol

Hahaha Really? Well that's incredible! I have the exact same story, only that ours was a 1900cc Diesel. My dad hated it and always blamed the hydraulic system. A friend of ours always used to repair it, when something broke down. One day the car wouldn't lift up and my father said one hydraulic cylinder had gone bad. "Then goes the other one and the other one and so on". Well. The guy I talked about came by and found it was only a cracked hose.It lifted like new and the old man watched his shoes

old citroens are really great. for me best choice is now citroen zx 1.9 td and its pretty rare in my country (fast enough for most of the modern cars)

they are the XUD9's just dont die. ive known some pass 300,000 miles without no problems at all.

only problem i had on mine hud9 turbocharged engine was head gasket issue( exhaust gas was in cooling system). i drived with apsolutly no cooling sistem 50 miles.after repair i had no issues at all, also engine head didnt crank. i was driving 210 km/h for abot 200 km thats why that problem happened. :)

nikola kurjakovic one of those things. i think any engine can be bullet proof if maintained right. merc started off being the best diesels ever but peugeot took the title and made them even better they still do till this day. new merc diesels are not built to last anymore

you just cant kill a an XUD9 diesel peugeot. its a hugely reliable engine no matter what car its in.

The XUD9 may be modest, yet hard as a rock.

There is something about that engine displacement. 1.9.
The 1.9 TDI, 1.9 XUD engine, the volvo 1.9 TD. All these are super reliable.

I can’t believe that this is the original color. What a choice😁 XUD FTW!

Yes, that is original color (more less). This color and configuration was the last delivery of the BX's to the Czech Republic. Some people told me this message so I hope, that this is the truth. But unfortunately this car had a fatal accident in 90's. But it was repaired. Due to heavy body corrosion in 2014 I had to made the donor from this car. I bought the other one with bad engine and transfer this engine to the new car. The new car has a different color.

Burys14 That’s the beauty of those simple cars: Switching an engine from one car to the other, is no brain surgery. Getting a rusty car rust free and keep it that way is near impossible though in my eyes, so you did the right thing. I had 6 BXs and they are just magnificent cars, that don’t lose you money and are just utterly practical. Best Regards to CZ from Germany ( I spent some time due to business in Unicov last year and must say that CZ is such a wonderful country).

modern day cars cant do this. purely mechanical diesels are bombproof.

oh come on, pretty much any modern car will start in -20 including diesels provided it has decent fuel, -40 on the other hand would be a real test.

    XD Funny
Ours was in the workshop almost every month because of hydraulic issues. My dad is some kind of a self-taught mechanic, but we didn't had the special tools you need for the car. Some day a jerk crashed into us and the car was totaled. Oh, well.

  • @RegalCobra097

Yup, we had a BX with a gasoline engine when I was little. My dad said that it was a piece of shit, because everything that could break down DID dreak down
