It really depends on the situation, I dated someone 16 years older than me in my early 20s and I have to say there was a reason he was single at 40! Maturity wise, he was younger than me!

I was always against dating outside a 5 year age gap personally, especially when it came to younger guys because most seemed immature, unsure of themselves and didn't have their lives figured out (which is fine most figure it out eventually but I wasn't interested in being anyone's mother). Then I met a guy 9 years younger than me through work and though I thought he was attractive I wasn't interested at first because he was outside of that age gap limit I set for myself, but we became friends and after a couple of years I had to admit I really liked him. His maturity made him seem older, he was confident and had his life together and he always looked for ways to make me smile and we have so much in common. Eventually I gave in and we started dating and now are engaged and the age gap doesn't bother us at all. He's 27, I'm 36. Met him when he was 23 and I was 32. Although 9 years doesn't seem all that bad when I see some of the other age gaps lol

I’ve struggled heavily connecting with, relating to and communicating with men my age. Relationships never work out and when it has it’s been short lived or extremely difficult. Then I met a man at a bar who I thought was only 10 years older than me, turns out he’s 19 years older than me and I never had such great conversation with a man in my life. I don’t know where it will go, but I know I feel happy, safe and excited for the future.
Don’t fall into that trap. If he’s twenty years older and divorced/still single there’s usually a reason for it.

There a a few age difference in my family. My parents were 20years apart, my grandparents 31 years, my aunt&uncles 10-18years and my first marriage we were 4 years apart. Other than my first marriage all the other marriages lasted till death or are still going strong. Age becomes more noticeable as you grow older together. I’ve met several couples with a big age gap and it ends up becoming a problem when they get older.
It is definitely more than age as all couples have issues all the time, but it is a matter of can you resolve them or not.
Age differences are truly nobody's damned business. That is, unless one of them is not of legal age. People make such a big ass deal about it. I was raised by parents who were 18 years different in age. It has never been a big deal to me. When I first started dating, I generally dated guys my age or three or four years older. But at 40, I started to date younger. Sometimes 2-5 years younger and sometimes 10-15 years younger. It really depends on the people involved and especially their maturity level. The guy I dated who was 12 years younger than me was one of the most mature people I had ever met and also brilliant. Age was never an issue for us.
Exactly you love who you love. People shouldn’t even care especially with older men and younger women because women mature mentally so much faster than men. An average 22 year old woman for example, is on par with an average man in his 30s for maturity so I don’t understand the stigma associated with it.

I feel like age no longer matters when both parties are over the age of 25 since that’s when the brain is fully developed. You see a lot of Hollywood couples where the older party isn’t technically a pedophile but one of them is 19 and the other is pushing 60 which just doesn’t sit right with me.
I don’t know why everyone says the brain is fully developed at 25. I felt that even when I was 20, I already mature enough in most things. Five years later, I did not change much but if I did, it was due to the experiences and knowledge that I gained not sure if it is because my brain was supposed to be fully developed or not. If you are sure of something then you can be sure even as a teenager.

As long as both of them as a couple have a healthy relationship I don't c the issue with age gaps my aunt's and uncles marriages were always a few years apart since in Mexico it wasn't a big deal. with even my mom's relatives they see that as tradition and more of a blessing than shame.
