The implication for the students is that it is an official document from the university unless otherwise stated. Also, the university is public, but the orientation is private attendance for students and families of students to attend. It’s just a shitty disingenuous and manipulative practice, not simply free speech. Students operating like that are hiding under the guise of official proceedings to legitimize their positions among the freshman. It’s a tactic used by people who can’t stand on their arguments without grifting people to believe them. If the ideas are rational and backed by solid nuanced research, they wouldn’t need to do shit like this to convince people.

And in college we read John Stuart Mill's On Liberty, which is the classic argument for free speech; look it up.

I would add to that advice that ANY university or college that espouses the DEI lie should be avoided. They will brainwash your kids to become racists and hate our country. That’s called free speech, and is unfortunately becoming a bad thing in colleges. The other university leaders tried to suppress free speech. That’s a big mistake. Free speech has to allow people to voice offensive points of view.
We already have way too much regulating of free speech at universities. People love to complain when they don’t like the opinion, but it is all protected free speech… which includes “hate speech”.

When I attended university, vegans passed out pamphlets with animals inside to people that were eating meat. They had little descriptions of their daily lives and how they were brutalized by the meat industry. I'm not a vegan, and I love meat, so I fucking ignored them and threw the pamphlets away.
I will not let the same people speaking out about "the nanny state" try to ban pamphlets because they don't like the contents. Fuck that, the students can make their own decisions about what is and isn't acceptable, they are grown adults. They don't need you to protect them from nonexistent threats.

She is going to "award" those students degrees who will then go out and write the literature that future students will be "educated" with. How hard is it to say, "That was unacceptable and inappropriate."

The students responsible for creating the document should be easy to find and should be informed that such documents are not permitted; All documents that are handed out to incoming students (etc) must receive approval by Dean of Students

They’re students, but they’re also grown adults. They’re responsible for what they publish.
Students have lives and an existence outside of school. They do things that the school does not sanction. Faculty do not have complete control over every move Students make.

Hearings like this one bring despicable things out into the light of day that otherwise would be cloaked in darkness on campuses and allowed to fester in the hearts and minds of students until that darkness erupted in the overt acts you are seeing in society now. American citizens need to know what our money (both taxes and tuition) is being spent in support of in our colleges and universities, whether public or private. We also need to know what subversion of various types is being taught in our elementary and secondary educational institutions as well. That is one positive thing that did happen as a result of Covid, the parents were given a glimpse of what was going on in America's public schools.

Being a former employee of the bd of education, this people are able to get resources for the children in yeshiva schools, which means the denial of minority children who are denied of the basic principles of their education and now the tables are turning into madnaess and war.😢

As someone whose worked with Early Intervention, in a state that provides services at not cost to children in need, this isn’t adding up. In fact, many parents of inner city public school students have turned down evaluations that would open their children to a plethora of services. Some cultures value educational resources, some do not.
