I just took the practice test and got a 63 overall…without studying of course. I did surprisingly well on the math portion (better than I thought I would) and I got a 56 on general and for the specific job that I want I would need a 50 so this really just boosted my confidence!

I did really well on the Asvab for dummies book. Bought both the Kaplan books and I’m totally confused on how they set up the questions and the answers . I’m visual learner and Kaplan is word learner . If your visual then do Asvab for dummies if you’re not then do the Kaplan . I’m returning the Kaplan books😬

How long did you wait after you took the test to go to basic training?
ASVAB scares me because I had no schooling from 4th grade to the end of my freshman year so math is not my strong suit. At least it hasn't been when it came to learning it in school under a time constraint. So, it's good to know I need to focus on that. My English comprehension is fantastic tho somehow 😂
Hey Jody need your help please!!! I’m trying to score a 44 in general I wanna be a prarescue in the usaf, what sections are the ones I need to focus on my second test is October 7th took my asvab last month passed with a 41 I’m not happy with it trying to do better what are your opinions sir
Math knowledge will bump the score up pretty good. But overall you should be focused on math knowledge, word knowledge, arithmetic and paragraph comprehension.
How does the verification test work for the PiCAT?
Can a recruiter opt not to verify your PiCAT score?
No. It’s mandatory for everyone who took the PICAT. You go to MEPS and they give it to you. It should only be a few questions, but if the answers you select don’t match what you did on the PICAT, then the system will roll you right into the full asvab.
Useful video for me! I wonder if it is better to take the paper asvab or the electronic asvab? Can you use a calculator to take the test?
You cannot use a calculator for the test. Also, when you go to MEPS, the test will be on a computer. You won’t have a paper choice
@@Jodywithawhy I understand you can only take the electronic version at MEPS, but at the recruiter's office I thought you can take the paper version. I just was thinking about taking the paper version because you can go back to previously questions and you can't do that with the electronic version. The paper version has more questions and a lot less time to answer those questions relatively to the electronic version. So, I'm a little "stuck"!
The only place you can take a real asvab is at MEPS. Any paper version you do with a recruiter is just for practice, and will not count.

can you be a student athlete at university and be in the air force at the same time for example UCF
You’re gonna have a hard time trying to manage the two. The Air Force will always come first, so you’ll probably end up missing a lot of time with the team.

Okay I have a question. I’m 26 , just Graduated with my bachelors degree, I want to go in as an officer. But I have to lose a few pounds and I know the process to go in as an officer takes up to a year or more. But I’ll be close to 30 by then and I don’t really want to join that old because these years are flying. Do you feel as it’s best to go Thru the enlisted route and work my way up? Also how long would it take to maybe become an officer by working my way up from the enlisted side??
If you go enlisted first, you have to serve at least 1 year before you’re eligible to apply for an officer position. Sometimes the enlisted route is the best route for people with degrees, but it’s really case by case. You’d have to ask yourself what’s most important to you when deciding. Then compare the enlisted side to the officer and see which one you think would work best. I hope that helps.
I failed my asvab today . I got a 31 when I needed a 55+ the math destroyed me 😂🙄 but I'm not worried . I jud gtt hit the books again
You might be able to qualify for security forces with that score if you’re interested. Maybe ask your recruiter if it’s possible. If not, you’re definitely right about studying. 💪🏽💪🏽
Hi! I take the ASVAB Tuesday, and my recruiter gave me a sheet that says I have to remember and list 14 AFSC’s, is that still a requirement for the AIR FORCE and could I be disqualified if I don’t remember some?
It depends on the squadron policy. Some squadrons make applicants list 20 jobs. I would recommend you write down a list of jobs, and take it with you to MEPS. Make sure you’re ok doing everything on the list, because once you list it, it can become your job. Good luck at MEPS. 🤙🏽

Yep. The verification test is a must not matter where the PICAT is taken.

I am a recruiting instructor for the Air Force. I teach the new recruiters how to do their job.
Before that I was an imagery analyst, for 3 years, and before that I was an electrician on gunships for 6 years.

Got a 44 on the asvab :) and line scores were, GT90, CL98, CO102, EL104, FA103, GM104, MM102, OF101, SC105, ST106. I can join as the medical job I've wanted. Hehe I studied for only one week. Which is either radiology technician or medical laboratory technician. Wish I could've gotten nurse 68c. But I need a gt of 107 I think 🤔 which I rushed through the test anyways. If I took it slower I probably would've gotten a 107 gt score

I’m also interested in medical jobs did they tell you that you can get those jobs right away like the radiology or med lab or were there waitlist ?
Also did you find the asvab fairly easy and was it as expected with the studying. One more question do you have college credits at all or does it matter ?
@@cbkae8119 hey sure! I actually got a 50! As I had to took a verification test. Lol I failed the verification and it made me took the full asvab. Which I was shocked I scored more than the picat and qualifed for a $14,000 bonus. But I used asvab for dummies to study general science and mechanical comprehension (since that's the line score I needed for my mos) and I used grammar hero CZcams channel to practice math and arithmetic reasoning. I didn't study the English portion because that probably would take years to learn. And the picat was 10x harder than the asvab to me.

Writing this on March 9th 2023. Took my piCAT like 5 days ago, got a 55, didn’t study for it at all. I want a cybersecurity job, I’m going to study to get a higher score
Lots of this is nonsense unless they going to Airborne or something critical in the military which is like only less than 5% of applicats.
