Imo, it's nice to know your equipments limitations. I don't care if it's an optic test or a knife test, at some point I may rely on that equipment to get me through that moment or that day or night, ect, therefore, I like to watch videos on this topic to get an idea and when I buy that product, I'm going to do my own examination to make sure it meets my expectations. People who think otherwise have obviously no clue to how things are tested and have probably never had a product they truly relied on fail on them but they will be humbled the moment it happens.
Hell, if I take a tumble and fall on my rifle or pistol, I want the peace of mind to know that it'll still be fully mission capable and not be second guessing if it's lost its zero. Anyone with half a brain and more than video game experience appreciates these tests for what they are. Keep it up, Matt.

I would NEVER drop my AR from that height with my optic on it...but it did happen to me. I layed it across the barricade and it fell over the front. I leaned it against a wall, my sling was caught by a dog that was running around and it pulled it away from the wall and dragged it only a foot or so. rifle and optic kept zero and kept me going on the site. Your videos are the very ones I watch you test and inform others. Thank you for doing so.
I mean, I have never dropped my rifle....but that doesn't mean I never would and I'm not dumb enough to think that. I have almost dropped it, and could easily see how stuff happens. It's nice to know where the limit is, so you can decide what role it may fill for you. An awesome optic that isn't super rugged may still have a place, just as long as you know where that limit is and can treat it accordingly. I appreciate the tests you do so we don't have to find out the hard way.
I want to know if the optic that I choose is rugged enough to handle my rugged-ness.
Have you considered adding a rain scenario to the destructive testing? I live in FL and boy would that be helpful

@@RTTGunsGear I was thinking about scopes, lpvo or hunting types... Especially if they save ipx level
@RuBearUSA I could maybe figure something out. IPX7 for instance, is good to 1m depth for 30 min and I honestly just don't know how I could test that. I mean, I supposed I could just submerge it in my sink or a bucket for a little while. But no..for "sealed" optics, I've not done any water testing. Just open emitter stuff to see if it shorts out.

@@RTTGunsGear I have accidentally found out that Nikon p-223 3x scope can survive both the rain and drop into wet mud of Florida swamp. Though only for a few seconds, it did survive, including cleaning by rain water.

people are a liar if say they never drop a firearm..... or stupid!! It happens, life happens, no one is perfect.... I would want to thank Matt or whoever tests optics or anything at matter of fact.... I would rather want to know what products I am getting before I buy them and find out they are shit and breaks in a day because of some dumb thing I did to it or DROP it by accident..... SO THANK YOU Matt for testing stuff!!!
