    So I want TG 3127 Minnesota to be my static TG. I then send a 4000 and link to TG 3100 to go use that one and if I set the radio down and come back to it later it will be on my static TG 3127. What if the QSO is long on TG 3100? Or does it have a preset timer that disconnects from TG 3100 and goes back to my static TG 3127? Sorry. Trying to understand this. I have tried the crosslink from fusion to DMR and find the radio not connected to any talk group at times. Second issue not related to this video. Also I find that if I lose power in my car when I start the engine the OS2 does not want to reconnect to my iPhone. I have heard iPhones do not broadcast WiFi info when out of the personal hotspot screen. What a joke but that's not OS2's fault. Thanks! these videos are very helpful and so are you!

      You bring up a good question! First thing about the 4000 group call unlink. It will ONLY disconnect dynamic Talkgroups. Static talkgroups cannot be disconnected with that. To disconnect a static talkgroup you have to do it on tje tools page of the Openspot. Or you could log into your Brandmeister account and do it there. I kind of prefer doing it from the hotspot because it's quicker and easier. In your scenario you had a static talkgroup and then dynamically keyed into another. By doing so you put tje static talkgroup(s) on hold. If you then stop transmitting in the talkgroup it will remain dynamic for 5 minutes or so. You may continue to hear traffic for a while. It will transition your dynamic talkgroup into something known as auto static. It will still be monitored as long as received traffic continues. When the traffic finally stops, after a few minutes of inactivity, it will sort of scan both the static talkgroup and the auto static talkgroup. You will notice the dynamic talkgroup has disappeared from your tools page. It won't show in static or dynamic. The auto static talkgroup goes into dashboard limbo. You won't see it. But traffic may suddenly appear from it. Despite the fact you cannot see it in dynamic talkgroups or static talkgroups. That is the limbo I am talking about. The good news is. ONLY the last keyed up dynamic talkgroup will be transitioned to auto static mode. Now to clear it out of auto static you just group call 4000 and it will unlink it and remove it totally. At this time, the hotspot will then monitor activity in your static talkgroup. If you have no static talkgroups in the hotspot and you monitor a dynamic talkgroup without keying back into for 5 minutes or so, the talkgroup will disappear from the dynamic talkgroup list. It will be monitored indefinitely in auto static mode. It stays there because there are no static talkgroups to compete with the auto static group. In this scenario you could technically monitor the auto static forever. With no static talkgroups, the hotspot has nothing ELSE to listen to. The only true way to kill that talkgroup once and for all is to group call 4000. If you you do that AND have no static talkgroups you will hear no traffic until you either, activate a static talkgroup or key up a talkgroup dynamically. If you do not key up a dynamic talkgroup and have no static talkgroups, the ONLY possible radio traffic that will come out of the hotspot is if someone else keys up a private call to your DMR ID. If no one does, then you will hear endless silence. This brings up an interesting scenario. When I am done using my hotspot, I unlink with group call 4000, and deactivate all static talkgroups. This is my DMR hotspot standby mode. I leave the server connected and zero talkgroups. That allows me to leave my hotspot connected to the internet round the clock, so my hotspot will automatically do callsign updated and firmware updates automatically. Openspot has a setting where they happen at 4 AM. If I were to kill the hotspot power. I would potentially miss the updates and the hotspot would want to immediately do these updates the next time I power up the hotspot. Whew! That was long! I hope that covered it. If not. Please feel free to let me know.

    Great Video, However, I have a problem. When I go to the tools section, there is nothing listed named brandmeister. I am using an anytone DMR radio. Any suggedtions or guidannce on what I am doing incorrecty? (KB5RZM). Your hotspot videos were increadable and I would like to do the same on the OpenSpot3. Thank you

      Did you connect to a Brandmeister server on the connectors page before going to the tools page?

      @@k9wlwradio309 Yes Sir. I logged into the Brandmeister page, received an API key, and placed it onto my Pi-Star as I saw on your previous video. It works great. I then watched your OpenSpot video. I was able to find the Tools pull down menu, however there is nothing listed as brandmeister or even a place to paste a BM API key.

      First go to connectors page and connect to Brandmeister. Then make sure you check advanced mode in lower right hand corner. Then go to tools page.

      @@blakepresent make sure you connect to a Brandmeister server like 3102 for example. Then if you click on the tools page, you should find Brandmeister manager below the shortcuts section. What sort of browser are you using?

    • @k9wlwradio309

      @@blakepresent you must FIRST go the OpenSpot3 connectors page and connect to a Brandmeister server. Once you have connected your OpenSpot3 to a Brandmeister server, THEN you can go to the tools page and find the Brandmeister Manager. If you are connected to NULL or any other connector besides Brandmeister, there will NOT be a Brandmeister manager section on the tools page. All this must be done before you even go to the Brandmeister website to obtain your API key and copy and paste back on the tools page. I would suggest using 2 separate browsers at the same time.

    So you can’t be linked on a specific talk group for this to work.

    • @k9wlwradio309
      @k9wlwradio309  Před 4 lety

      Correct! It will stop on a talkgroup with traffic and park a while. After it goes silent, then it will resume scanning the talkgroups. If you key your radio into a talkgroup then that talkgroups is dynamic. It will take complete control of your hotspot. If you do not key up in the dynamic talkgroup for about 5 minutes, the static talkgroups will again move to the forefront again. If you key a talkgroup 4000 unlink, then it will disconnect all dynamic talgroups and the static talkgroups take over instantly.
