  • A simple repair really, but it is interesting to see inside this machine, how the COIN-OP may have worked and some of the control gear. Kids are gonna get free rides with the installation of a Dubious Missile Switch :-) How cool!!

    You should combine this with your previous lawnmower project. Kids get a free ride and you get your lawn cut, along to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme tune.

    meter counts up in 10p units not 50p units, still means it took £14490,70p

      How does it know? - Is the coin mech intelligent? - I need to look up coin mechs!!

    • @soedetonator
      @soedetonator Před 3 lety +1

      @@DubiousEngineering the one fittec to that is. Generally if the ride has an electronic coin mech then the convention in the UK is to count in 10p units. If the ride has a mechanical coin mech then usually they count rides. However I worked on your actual ride in the past so I know. However I don't think its got its original Whitaker's control system fitted judging from the music.

    No Dub Test Ride - No Thumbs Up!!!
    Did you consider fitting some sort of timer ? Otherwise someone could just leave it running 24/7 which i don't think the motor & bearings are designed for?
    Plus it would give a bit of relief to anyone living / working near or in the shop a bit of an break every now & then from that tune!

    • @DubiousEngineering
      @DubiousEngineering  Před 4 lety +1

      You hit the nail on the head... The shop-keeper wanted it to be a cheap&cheerful fix - he didn't want to spend too much money to get it going again, so this was the solution we agreed once I found I could get it working like that. I was payed in alcohol :-)
