- A simple repair really, but it is interesting to see inside this machine, how the COIN-OP may have worked and some of the control gear. Kids are gonna get free rides with the installation of a Dubious Missile Switch :-) How cool!!

I guess the 80's electronics die out after all the use great job thank you mate
Yeah, but it was fun getting it working again! :-)
Now that vehicle is a free for all ride, hurray!
Some were dissapointed that I didn't jump in it and have a ride... MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!! Sorry!!! - Thanks for the ThumbsUp! I'll hop in it and take it for a spin over to your house... I may take a very long time to arrive :-)
@@DubiousEngineering It looked like a very bumpy ride. You have some interesting friends with cool...toys.
I'm now imagining you going around the country doing this to existing machines :D Guerilla children's ride liberation :D
I wear a cape and my underpants are on the outside of my Lycra !!! :-). Children’s rides liberation front of judea... what have the romans ever done for us?
You should combine this with your previous lawnmower project. Kids get a free ride and you get your lawn cut, along to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme tune.
Hahah... that bloody ear worm was stuck in my head for a whole day after working on this ride :-). Great idea Martin :-)
Starting to watch this now; you better ride it!
edit: Betrayed! That was the most difficult thumbs up I ever had to give :(
YEAH - MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!! Sorry!!! - Thanks for the ThumbsUp! I'll hop in it and take it for a spin over to your house... I may take a very long time to arrive :-)
Great fun mate. Bet that machine paid for its self. 👌🙂
Unbelieveable right!! - Investment - 5-7k payback over time 70k.... ?? I need to get one of these installed outside my house with a working coin-op and ice-cream truck :-)
Good job mate! Like the missile switch.
Thanks man!! - I'm digging your youtube name :-)
I thought you were going to jump on for a ride. Lol! Good stuff Howard. Cheers mate
Thanks pat!! ... I totally missed the trick there... I genuinely should have jumped on it!! :-)
Hope you and yours are well and enjoying the sunshine ☀️:-)
hey --- u know i do this as a morning job lol .... very good :)
Cool!!! I know someone that used to service fruit machines... that was quite fun
According To The Price Plate, This Machine Was Owned By Northern Lesuire
Interesting... it ended up in the south west
And They Don’t Exist Anymore, They Closed Down During Lockdown.
Nice
Haha... thanks 🙏 man... the kids will be happy now :-)
This is a whittaker brothers veteran car kiddie ride.
It's a lovely little beast!!!
Whittaker Brothers compact car kiddie ride.
Aha!! Thank you!! UK based company I guess!
Just kidding around on this one.Howard? A new ride?
Hahah... More DAD jokes! ... I'll hop in it and take it for a spin over to your house... I may take a very long time to arrive :-)
meter counts up in 10p units not 50p units, still means it took £14490,70p
How does it know? - Is the coin mech intelligent? - I need to look up coin mechs!!
@@DubiousEngineering the one fittec to that is. Generally if the ride has an electronic coin mech then the convention in the UK is to count in 10p units. If the ride has a mechanical coin mech then usually they count rides. However I worked on your actual ride in the past so I know. However I don't think its got its original Whitaker's control system fitted judging from the music.
Interesting!! Now I know who to contact in case I have problems!! :-). Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us here :-)
That was fun. Is your Mum still wearing her '3D' glasses?
She's got a nice new commercially manufactured pair now ... and no longer looks like a comedy clown :-) Although she did lose them in the garden the other day, but thankfully found them again!
@@DubiousEngineering Oh I know the 'Seen-My-Goggles?' song very well - tell Mum I sympathize. Perhaps you could print a round-the-neck chain? There's a wee challenge for you mate! Love to you both and stay healthy.
Nice! Anything else brewing? Do another brew Howard. I did one from tined friut, all the syrup turns to alcohol.
That sounds epic!! - Yes, I have a hoppy Tom Caxtons - I have named it CACKSDOWN ... I hope it will be strong enough to encourage me to drop me draws!! :-) I'll have a go a wine and cider one day soon... Hope you are well mate!!
ok so we have an old carousel that someone put a push button switch for free rides. the button was recently replaced but now where do the new wires go? this is the older type with coin switch assembly that has wire trigger. please tell me how to wire new button switch.. help
We will need pictures... pop onto dubious engineering on Facebook book and stuff some pictures in... will try my best to help!
How did I guess it would be a missile switch LOL.
Hahaha... I should have sent you one of those... I'm sure you would have found a use for it!!
@@DubiousEngineering LOL I could launch my signal with it LOL
Hi do you think this will work on any ride ?cheers
Should do... :)
Still you have?
Sadly nope
No Dub Test Ride - No Thumbs Up!!!
Did you consider fitting some sort of timer ? Otherwise someone could just leave it running 24/7 which i don't think the motor & bearings are designed for?
Plus it would give a bit of relief to anyone living / working near or in the shop a bit of an break every now & then from that tune!
You hit the nail on the head... The shop-keeper wanted it to be a cheap&cheerful fix - he didn't want to spend too much money to get it going again, so this was the solution we agreed once I found I could get it working like that. I was payed in alcohol :-)
