  • Author Douglas Murray has slammed university students calling for Intifada as “either sinister or silly”.
    Mr Murray wrote a piece in the New York Post earlier this month called, ‘College idiots calling for ‘Intifada’ have no idea how many innocents have died from that word’.
    “It’s extraordinary, isn’t it,” Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
    “You effectively see, once again, something you and I have talked about in a number of contexts, which is people who must either be sinister or silly.
    “The sinister ones know what they’re talking about when they chant for Intifada.
    “The silly ones are chanting a slogan they clearly don’t understand.
    “Let me speak to the second ones for a moment … if you call for Intifada, you should know what an Intifada is.
    “There was an Intifada when I was growing up in the late '90s… but the Second Intifada included suicide bombings against Israelis of the most gruesome type.”

    A man, Lothario, is accused of murdering Barbertje. The judge sentences him to the noose. Lothario defends himself: he has always taken good care of Barbertje, he says, and he knows nothing about the murder. That only makes the matter worse: the judge also accuses him of conceit, and that too carries the death penalty.
    At that moment, Barbertje - very much alive - walks into the courtroom. The judge now has to admit that Lothario cannot be accused of murder. However, Lothario is still guilty of conceit and is sentenced to death for it.

    The educational and knowledge level in American universities are generally low, they are not even in par with indian colleges. So I can actually understand if these students protest with lack of proper knowledge, if you chose universities in America like Columbia or Harvard then you will come out with nothing as quality of education they provided is generally very low and don't meet the standards of actual universities and colleges around Asia.

    • @Her.Serene.Feline.Cuteness.
      @Her.Serene.Feline.Cuteness. Před měsícem

      American universities including the Ivy league schools have long had this reputation with some people especially here in Australia but I have never heard anyone explain why, if there is any truth to this claim, being able to write simple and coherent sentences is prevalent amongst the general American population.
      If you follow social media closely and are a reasonably astute observer of syntax and general expression in English, you will note that people here in Australia and the UK are much, much more prone to misuse of language including punctuation, syntax, grammar and spelling mistakes.
      So I find it difficult to accept that educational standards are very low right across the American education system and in particular their institutions of higher learning compared to Asia which supplies Australian universities with a large amount of their revenue.

    • @jasonfung9516
      @jasonfung9516 Před měsícem

      @@Her.Serene.Feline.Cuteness. here you misunderstood my point. When I says level of education, I am talking about their general conscience level. And overall knowledge and understanding the truth based on fact. I have been watching the US college protest over the last couple of weeks and I have not seen even a single university student coming front to justify it's cause base on the fact and second point is realizing the action they caused has consequences and jeopardizing their entire career for something that don't care much about them. Those are the basic human knowledge we learn over time while studying in colleges and universities. For example. I once saw a CZcamsr asking one simple question to the college students protestor. " What is river to the sea" and not even a one could answer that despite they were holding placard stating river to the sea. Now for me, I never went to such a prestigious colleges in my life but I read books and update my knowledge so I even know what does it mean and how this particular slogans came into being. So if I have to advice one thing to these protestors, first learn everything about the cause you are fighting for and then protest. It will make it look even more reasonable. I love Palestinian but these students seriously needs to study first about Palestine if they want to fight for it's cause.

      @@jasonfung9516 Your first comment is unclear. It seems to be a criticism of the standard which students have to meet in order to achieve a degree at Ivy league universities. In other words, the depth of knowledge they must demonstrate about the subject.
      After reading your second comment, it appears that what you are actually criticising is the failure of the process of absorbing knowledge from studying subjects to develop their outlook. In other words, you are commenting that students are not developing a questioning or inquisitive mind. They are just relying on an ideology about what is correct to support and what is correct to protest against without having a detailed understanding of the issue.
      You are disappointed to find that that when they protest about Palestine, they do this without being able to answer simple questions.
      This has been a problem affecting universities around the world for at least the last 15 to 20 years. It's not correct to say that Ivy league universities are not as good as universities near Australia.

That's why the students there protest and chant like "river to the sea" intifada, " death to America" and burns American flag, desecrating the statue of American founding father, despite they are in America still chanting "death to America" so you tell me, any parents around the world's wants to have their kids to send in such colleges and universities to be indoctrinated of hating Jews and america?

    Men need to have places to just hang out and be men, without women judging them and questioning them and shaming them.
    Up until the trans things, men were quite content to let women have their "spaces" to use the modern terminology.

    Fascism understands itself to be a revolutionary and progressive manifestation of power. As in communism, fascism replaces traditional religious principles with a secular religion in which the future - rather than an idealized past or meta-historical ideals - becomes an idol. Politics replaces religion in the quest to liberate humankind. Contrary to popular characterizations, fascism makes no attempt to preserve a heritage of traditional values against the advance of progress (one only has to look at fascist architecture for confirmation of this). Instead, it proceeds as the unfolding in history of a wholly novel and unprecedented power.

    “When I travel the world, leaders often ask me why the Irish have such empathy for the Palestinian people,” Leo Varadkar, the Irish taoiseach, or prime minister, said Sunday at the White House. “And the answer is simple: We see our history in their eyes - a story of displacement, of dispossession and national identity questioned and denied, forced emigration, discrimination and now hunger.”
