  • The Guys head to the Great White North, specifically Marquette, Michigan, where Andy Langlois and Dave Manson (the CoFounders of Blackrocks Brewery) are hard at work. No joke; these guys ran out of beer on their opening weekend, and in a very short time this community's thirst for innovative beer has stretched their nanobrewing capacity to the limit.

    these guys are great, i frequent this brewpub and it has made massive strides since this video was made. They just upgraded their brew system and they now have 8 beers on tap instead of 4. Great place, great people, and great beer make an unbeatable combination. Happy brewing!

    Completely awesome that my old home town of Marquette now has 3 craft brew locations. Black Rocks now packages their beer and is available in local stores and restaurants, total rock

    Don't run out of beer; And don't give it to em! If your beer kicks that much ass that you sold out in the first week then that is great and congratulations! One week of not selling beer probably cost more than a few larger fermenters and your homeboy making double batches!

    Love the video ! I'm in the process myself . Our process here in Vt is somewhere painstaking lol. How long would you say it took you from start to brew to get this off the ground ? Is it just pints or do you bottle and sell growlers ?

    I'm planning on moving back to South Korea and open a bar with my Korean friend. I'm trying too figure out what kind of brewing system I should buy for the bar. It isn't necessary going too he a microbrewery or a microbrewery but we will make beer and sell it at the bar..... What kind of brewing system do you recommend? I was looking at the Brewha system because it doesn't take up much space and you can clean it with hot water and steam. We won't be only selling our beer so we don't need too produce a huge amount at one time. Also I like the idea of making new beers on a regular basis.

    I am in the beginning phase of starting a nano brewery in PA. Where did you guys start as far as looking what state, local, and fed licenses are required to get your nano off the ground? I am so excited for you guys. It must be an awesome feeling to have opened your doors and poured that first pint for a customer!

    Hey my friends and I have made about 5 or 6 5-gallon batches of beer. We're trying to work on developing our own beer recipes now. Do you have any suggestions on how to begin work on a recipe? We're not sure whether we should start with the ingredients that sound promising and try to build up a recipe from there, or start with the final qualities of the beer that we want and find the ingredients to achieve it.

    • @back40films
      @back40films  Před 9 lety

      Tyler Quirk Hey Tyler, one thing we can tell you for sure is that whatever direction you choose, take METICULOUS notes. Whatever you stumble upon you'll want to be able to recreate it exactly if it's something you're really fond of. That being said, regardless of whether you start with promising ingredients or an idea of 'where you want the beer to go', notice that the common theme in both cases is... INGREDIENTS (because if you're talking final product you immediately will start thinking of specific ingredients that will get you there). Our advice is to start there - research what people say about specific ingredients - one brewer we really love says that knowing ingredients (and how they are likely to result in the glass) is like learning notes in music... if you know how the single notes sound, you'll be able to predict the chord. Good luck!

  • @JoeCowleyNEPABeerReviews

    Where in NEPA are you starting this nano brewery?

      Looks like Michigan, but we will be starting one in Shickshinny, north of Berwick. Stay tuned for Five Mountain Brewing Co.
      We are hoping for a labor day opening based on licensing.

      Frank Shaw Hey Frank! First off, get to know your State and Local regulations - reach out to any local brewers that have made the jump and see what hurdles they ran into. This will save you TONS of time over the long run. Equipment and funding are extremely important of course, but at the end of the day the laws & local statutes are crazy important. Get familiar with them. Cheers!

    What is the difference between a Nano Brewery and a Micro Brewery?
    Nano brewery doesn't make any money ;-)

    • @asambi69
      @asambi69 Před 6 lety

      Depends on your model, Selling direct from tap in a restaurant or place like this can make MORE money than a microbrewery selling direct to trade.
