- Hi Guys.... I'm trying to make this Comgo Z1 work with as little help from a manual as possible! . Comgrow ( www.comgrow.com/products/comg... ) sent this to me for evaluation and apart from a less than informative printed manual I am impressed so far...
I'm actually quite impressed by COMGO's generosity. They sent you a really nice combination of products to test out. It'll be interesting to see what it can really. do. Thanks for a cool project, It's appreciated.
Looks like it works pretty good!!
good video Steve..thanks for your time
I just rebuilt all of our Community Theatre sets after a flood last year. Luckily we were insured and the flood was a bit of a blessing in disguise since it purged a lot of mis-matched and used up set pieces. My new flats and pieces are like a big set of Legos that I can mix and match... BUT.... the cost of materials ate up the insurance payment pretty quick.
I like it. What an amazing little machine. Looking forward to seeing what it will do on metal.
You and me both!
That worked out well! You have been busier than a one armed paperhanger!
The odds of anything going wrong are not great, but you need to always ensure you have glasses on that protect your eyes from laser light. Regular glasses just aren't enough..
thanks Steve, i did'nt think it could hold my interest, I was wrong, good video.
Great video Steve. Good to see that I'm not the only one who has trouble figuring out the software on new digital driven equipment the first time I use them.
Thanks for showing us the laser engraver. I keep trying to figure out some reason why I would want one but not for engraving I know already. Maybe if it would cut some reasonably thick wood. I know how you feel about the trials of getting older.
You bet!
Laser engraving leather might make an interesting video
Glad to see that wound closed up finally. Must of been Don's fault somehow?
Very interesting Steve, a suggestion, would it help the airflow over the printed object, if you open the zipper flap to let air come in the front and out through the fan.
I assume at the moment it sucks air from around the edges of the hood bottom(including the back and side the fan is on).
Only down side I can see so far is the noise of the fan.
there was plenty of open space around the bottom of the enclosure it was not starved for air :)
@@10swatkins I wasn't really concerned with the workpiece, more concerned about the remaining smoke that was still in the hood when you opened it up, that I assume should be gone with the fan running and suspected airflow was not working correctly??
Good to see you again. Glad the wound finally healed. What are you going to do with the helmet that cut you? Finds a fun way to destroy it?
I keep it around as a reminder :)
You need to study control of the burn/engraving intensity. I'm sure you could control the smoke better -- check on the "smoke assist".
I purchased a Comgrow Z1 Pro 20 watt and never could get that piece of crap to work! It would not interface with LIghtburn. It would only work with a piece of garbage called LaserGRBL. It required a firmware flash straight out of the box in order for Windows to recognize it. Comgrow tech support is a joke and never would offer a solution so I sent it back to Amazon and purchased an Xtool D1 Pro 20 watt which is a total dream to use. It truly is the Cadillac of diode lasers!
I am really not happy with it either... DOes ok for wood but forget about anything in metal... I've turned down 7 other companies wanting to give me similar things...
Can it do brass data plates for machine tools?
I sure hope so : } We will find out soon !
Please get laser eye protection for your remaining good eye! Seriously - don't rely on that red "shield". Guess I don't need to tell you to use ventilation...
No one here could build anything like that. OSHA EPA would shut down every shop in china if they had them . Look at the videos of Pakistani men in shops. Open belts between their feet or open furnace fires and flip flops as shoes or barefoot. We've regulated all shops out of business and caused billions in scrapping great machines of 70 yrs or more old. Made to buy China junk over those.
