  • Replacing the fuel filter on a 2019 ford tourneo custom with just over 60k miles on the clock.
A pretty easy filter to replace and to bleed the diesel.

Now you see why they don't get changed. I did the diesel filter on the Octavia last week at 80,000 miles. A complete doddle and no drips, and done from inside the bonnet with a T20 driver. I had an old Connect TD and you didn't have this palaver either. They both self primed as well.

    Evening Alan
I have mk4 mondeo with 220k+ on the clock. I do most of my own work but every 20k or so i send it to evans halshaw just for the stamp really. Last time i asked them to do all filters etc etc and cost me £250+
I had the MOT done at the beginning of May and passed of course with no advisories. I then did a service myself with all filters and i can tell you that diesel filter had not been changed for a very long time, i could tell because there was no tell tale marks of removal. The filter was worse than the oil filter and after changing the car ran so much better. Such an easy job, why couldn't evans have done that? How can I trust a large company like that? Ill do it all myself from now on, stuff the stamp, i dont need it.
Anyway, Where's Monica, we miss her 😔

I changed my fuel filter in a 1.8 TDCi. Not knowing the proper procedure, I just started the engine. It ran for a few seconds and then stopped, and then I had to manually pump fuel into the filter from the tank to eventually get it to run. Spent a few hours fighting with it. Great job!

I found the best way to prime this is do the same as you did but leave the drain tap open slightly over a drain pan. Then leave ignitiion switch on, and gradually close the tap when you see a constant flow of fuel coming out. You will hear the pump run constantly until tap is closed and then it cuts out once pressure is reached i believe.

Thank you very much for the video, it’ll help me out as I’m going to service my 2019 custom tomorrow, it has 72k on it and it’s never had a fuel filter. The spanner light has popped on a couple of time so I’ll change the fuel filter too.

I look after a fleet of transits and change these quite often. One bit of advise DON"T just use a normal socket to remove this filter. There is a proper socket available that has two cutouts in it that fit onto the nut far better than a normal socket. Using a normal socket CAN round off the plastic nut because as you've seen in video they are really tight. The special sockets costs naff all

I do a huge amount of them on the enterprise vans, they drain out nice; but you still get an armful of fuel even after leaving them for half hour draining. I always do them first before the oil oil change so i trying to fire the engine over while trying get oil pressure from new oil filter.

I replaced the fuel filter on our transit, same job as this. Changed it with a Bosch filter and after comparing it with the FoMoCo one that came out it was the exact same apart from the names. Not sure but maybe Bosch make the filters for Ford. I smeared some diesel around the rubber o ring and it helped it to tighten up. It is a messy job especially lying on the ground!

Hello Alan I like watching your videos I have been watching since I purchased a Mondeo in 2014
I have a question for you I have a ford b max on a 64 plate with 30000 miles on it it now gets stuck in gear usually 1 or 2 this has happened 4 times yesterday I have to turn off engine to move it out of gear and then I can continue my journey but this happened 4 times yesterday I have been told there is no clutch cable on this vehicle (I don't know much about cars )if this was the clutch I take it I would be going nowhere and the pedal would go to the floor (had this fault in a nova years ago) so the clutch seems okay it is not slipping mileage is low any ideas what does this sound like to you this vehicle was inherited from my late father who really looked after it the mileage is exceptionally low for year and he never abused or drove a car in a bad way so I know it has been well looked after which is why I took this vehicle (my dad would own a car until it was falling to pieces) I know this vehicle has been extremely well looked after I am dreading a very expensive bill I take it if the clutch was gone I would get no gear at all any ideas/advice would be appreciated I know it has to go to the garage I really enjoy watching your videos ever since I had a Mondeo MK4 titanium x and still watch now even though I have this b max

The software on vehicle is crap and often says 'engine over temp' when im on ev mode and engine service when its had only covered 11,000, engine oil requires changing, etc etc. Nice van but system is full of gremlins.

    • @boldbaboon8392

You should disconnect the fuel line on top of the housing and then open the drain valve. That will allow air in from the top, and Bob will be your dry uncle, instead of soaked in Diesel.

    Hi Alan
Have you done the wet belt?
These transits are really bad for the belts going anywhere between 50-80k
I have had so many problems with theses transits and wet belts
Ford say 140k or 10 years but they are not getting close

    • @sbrader97
      @sbrader97 Před rokem +1

Stupid idea to get like 0.1 more mpg/negligible emissions gain and its likely even worse on the diesels than the 1.0 ecoboost because the oil will get a bit diluted with fuel from dpf regens which is likely to react with the rubber and wear the wet belt even faster but make sure your using the oil that meets the ford spec for the engine not just the correct weight because wrong oil can also be formulated in a way that wears the belt faster
