Loas looks like a beautiful country, friendly locals, simple life, more than adequate especially the accommodation. Everything I like. Will have to pick your brain for this round trip. Gday Dodger, this if certainly a great trip to do on the back of a motor bike, the starting point for this particular trip is a town called Thakhek, (Thakhek Loop), so you travel to the town of Thakhek which is right on the Mekong river, south of the capital Vientiene. Heaps of motor bike shops in Thakhek, we went with Mixay Motor bike rentals, you only need a day backpack with a few clothes, you can leave most of your stuff at the motor bike shop and pick it up on your return. The 2 motor bike loops to do are the Thakhek loop and the Pakse Loop, heaps of u tube on both. cheers
