- I truly wasn't going to buy the DJI Avata 2 but after seeing the way it flew in some of the reviews and with all the traveling I have out of country this year I was sold! I am excited to add it to my bag of tricks in order to get the best possible shots for my videos and for my clients.

I feel like there a lot of pilots out there that are such big nerds about flying only in full manual that they sacrifice everything to be in that mode. As anyone who actually makes money flying knows, you use the mode that gets the best outcome.
Well put. Me, I don’t do it for money yet. But your drone should be like your tools in your tool box. Each one is designed for a specific purpose. So that being said, based on the type of weather, indoor/outdoor, and so on. Take what you need…. No drone is the end all be all. Just depends on the need.
Yeah a true professional cares about the end result not what someone else thinks about how they got it.
Exactly, If I flew this indoors for real estate there's no way I'd be in acro. I'd 100% be using stabilization too.
Even though that's not something I'd employ for a freestyle flight.
Most people know that.
@@DingleBerryschnapps I guess they just like lying on the internet then..
Avata 2 obviously looks smoother and more natural. Even though the flylens may be better for FPV pilots, home buyers don't want to see bobbing in the home tours.
I completely agree, it’s almost like having to swallow my pride as a drone pilot in order to deliver my customers the best product possible
I agree with you for homes, now if you were doing a bowling alley, or other cool businesses the FPV flight would probably be better.
@@JonnyTrego you dont need to swallow m. you can use flylens on other stuff.. avata 2 not really excel like fpv.. but avata 2 offer convenience
I specifically looked up indoor flying with the Avata 2, and your video was perfect and very informative. Thank you; new subscriber here.
Nice information, Jonny! Really like how you put this together 👍
Great review man, the altitude hold makes the speed ramp transitions way smoother, its nice starting and finishing at the exact same height even if its in different rooms / environments. Tempting to get it and try it out !
Thanks I appreciate that! The altitude hood is a game changer, it makes my editing process so much easier to not have to try to fix everything in post
enjoyed that Jonny - subbed.
Was waiting your opinion about a2 , thanks
Awesome video bro. I think I am going to get the avata 2
Thanks so much! I’d definitely recommend it
Thanks for taking the time to make this, exactly what I wanted to know.
I often have to fly indoors (flylens or pavo 20) in low light conditions and the o3 is not great, in your opinion is the o4 better.
Looks like the Avatar 2 is a lot easier to get steady but it's a lot bigger and I assume louder so a little more intrusive when the a people around. Any thoughts?
Nice video, the stabilization you stated at 13:30 means post stabilization or on-device rocksteady / gyroflow thing?
You should use only Avata 2 if you want to use speedramps. Footage looked so much smoother. Keep Flyfoo as your backup drone! Just practice more with Avata 2 that it feels more confortable.
And IMO those "stunt flight paths" like above sink are only for other fpv pilots. I don't think that home buyer who wants to see the house does't even notice or care of technical side of flight. They want smooth video that shows them what kind of layout and rooms house has.
Thanks for the video. It was good comparison of indoor flying wiht different modes and drones.
Subscribed brotha
Nice video sir 👍
Thank you so much!🙏🏼
Thanks for the video. Do you generally do your real estate walk-throughs in normal or manual mode?
Great video! I have been curious about the Avatar 2 indoor flight experience. Have you tried flying from outside to inside in normal mode? Does the Avata 2 slow down when it loses GPS signal? That was something I noticed with my original Avata. As soon as it lost GPS signal the flight speed would slow way down. Smooth and steady is preferred of course, but sometimes I need just a bit more speed while having the added stability of Normal mode. Anyway, awesome video and thanks for all the info!
Very helpful comparison!! Please share your rates for the Flylens 85 and rates for the indoor flying. Thank you
Nice video! I also have both of these drones and the flylens has been my go to. Will be interesting to see how I feel about the avata 2. Curious to see what you come up with for rates on the avata 2.
Thanks so much! I’m excited to mess with it and see what I can come up with! I haven’t even had it a week yet and I’m packing right now as I type to go out of the country so I’ll be happy when I can really dive into everything
Bought the avata exactly for doing these home tours.
It’s gonna be a game changer
Thanks for the video. For the Avata 2, what were the video settings?
love the altitude hold of the Avata 2 it does make a huge difference. Battery life is game changer, ease of use and setup time is like non-other.
Do you have NDs for your Avata 2? I am looking for the link to your controller stick extensions, did I miss the link? Great review. What naked hero do you have on your Flylens 85? I am going to compare footage of my cinelog35 and avata 2 indoors. i think the avata 2 would be more stable for sure
Nice video thank you! So indoors it doesn’t really matter about GNSS signal as long as your HD/RC connection is strong then the Avata 2 will fly well?
I do a lot of real estate work and was curious about these exact 2 options. Great video, thanks! Quickly, what do you use for stabilization? It looked fantastic
it's gyroflow
the avata 2 ofcourse.
I've been waiting for this video! I am seriously considering selling my current fpv real estate setup for this. Do you think you'll eventually switch over, given the better picture quality and stability, if you had more practice? seems like its an upgrade in every way, its just a matter of comfort and skill.
I wouldn’t blame ya one bit if you did, I will say there are other projects that I would still use my other FPV drones over this for but for houses I could eventually see myself just using this, especially the more practice I get in with it. It’s just so easy
You said in the video you've got upgraded sticks for the Avata 2 controller? Are you using the new DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 or still the V2?
If V3 then are those longer sticks that you're referring to and if so where did you get them from as I'm having a hard time sourcing any for the V3 controller as I spoke with DJI support today in the hope that the sticks are the same on the V3 as the V2 but they said they weren't 🙁
I can't find any for the V3 controller anywhere online so if you were referring to the V3 controller then would love to know where you got yours from if that's okay?
I'm from the UK but don't mind paying shipping as long as they don't come out too expensive.
Another great video, keep up the fantastic work. You've earned another subscription today! 😉
Nice vid! Do you change the left stick tightness in between manual and normal flights?
I didn’t, I kept the stick the way it should be in fpv, it would probably be easier if I did change it but I didn’t have the tool with me
HI! you know , mate , why I'm starting getting a doubt about shooting in 30fps now, I see all the edges of windows, walls, doors, all vertical lines are stuttering when you turns ! Ok if you are in a field with right ND and right shutter speed so it's getting blurred out but for interiors what we can do ? a motion blur fx? I tried and stuttering still there but not draw so much attention because of the blur. BUT it can be fixed with higher fps like 60 or 120 , but you get more iso and noise .... btw I see it on a professional 60hz monitor for photo editing and I assume the majority are watching on similar monitors, also I checked it out on smartphones and tablets.... same!
what I would like to see is the the calibration of the flylens for the angle mode. so you dont need to keep countering a left or right.. Im from a windy Island im not fan of avata but here Im more into using my cinelog 25 or qav cine with a naked gopro.
Great review Jonny.
Definitely A2 then FlyLens, BAttery and The camera IQ wise, but hope DJI will give us a bit more customization controls.
Thanks so much! I just wish I had the ability to put a throttle curve in
@@JonnyTrego let’s hope for the right FW update
Hey Jonny,
Did the drone saved the gyrodata on your flights indoor?
I tested it yesteray indoors and there are no data in my sd-card! Only the video itself. Outdoor it works perfectly.
Do you stabilise in post please? If so which software?
Great video! The Avata 2 actually looked pretty solid indoors.
Thanks man! Honestly I was impressed by it, I did not think it would do well at all
Hands down DJI Avata 2 Drone....one thing never mentioned is about O4 Transmitter... DJI OcuSync 4.0
DJI O4 is suppior to all Drones transmitter.
Cheers 🥂 🍻
really hope we get an o4 air unit this year
what video editing software are you using for the stabilization?
Awesome video. Nice work! One question. I am familiar with Dji’s other drones. When flying indoor with the Avata 2 and say you are close to an airport or some no fly zone does it lock you out from flying like it does on the Mavic 2?
Yes it does, That is the only draw back from using it. And why I wont be able to completely switch my business over to using just the avata 2. Im not sure I would anyways because I Love my other drones but that would make it impossible to do so.
@@JonnyTrego seems funny that would be would be forced to be grounded when shooting indoors in one of those areas. I am surprised there is not a way around that. Thanks for the feedback
I definitely had to lower a lot of the sensitivity on the Avata 2 so the flying was smoother almost by half
Just use the joy stick in beginner mode for indoor flights. a 5 year old can do a house tour in this mode.
The avata 2 is better in every way…. especially camera quality.
I also prefer to fly angle mode indoors for the very same reasons. I'm not trying to do tricks. I want cinematic shots. It'll be great when the 04 is released and we can upgrade our fleet.
I’m with you on that one! It’ll be in my cart the second it’s released lol
You may get an even better indoor flight experience from the Avata 2 if you use the Motion 3 controller with it. Nice review, however.
Drone size also makes a difference in this example.
Nice vid bro. AWB indoors or custom on the Avata 2?
I had it in AWB
@@JonnyTrego cheers man.
Was the Avata 2 in normal mode set to auto or did you dial in aperture/shutter/awb settings?
It was in normal mode, and I had it in auto for all camera settings
11:26 DJI Avata 2 does not have a downward sensors. Those are cameras for precision landing.
It occurs to me that we FPV pilots often spend a lot of time, effort, and money making our quads (especially cinewhoops) fly like DJI quads. I am primarily interested in smooth cinematic footage and am not really into aerobatics. I spend most of my time in angle mode. I'm just about finished with a Bee35 build and would be thrilled to capture even half as good of footage as the Avata 2 gets right out of the box. My flying skills are below the average FPV pilot and I think the Avata 2 would be perfect for the results I'm pursuing. Still, I've gotten a great deal of satisfaction out of building and flying my diy quads and I wouldn't trade that experience but I do admit that DJI does it better for everything except freestyle and racing. Just my 2 cents. That and four bucks will get you half a cup of coffee these days 😮. Happy flying amigo 🫡 🍻.
avata offer convenience .. it may lack a bit compared to normal cinewhoop fpv... but well people gonna use avata 2 because it is convenient
Good lord, what a crazy big mansion! And how does the basement have a door outside on level land, but so did the first floor? That's like some TARDIS stuff going on there.
You know, all turns isn't too hard to make but the altitude is the hardest part, so why i what to ask you what is better to buy avata 2 since its got decent camera now, or cinelog25 plus nuked gp12 on top,? Now i try cinebot30 but its too havy....but av2 also havy enough...
It’s really just about how solid and problem free you want your setup to be, the more variables you introduce like a naked GoPro the more things that can go wrong. I truly like the Avata 2 and the footage that comes out of it
@@JonnyTrego yes the footage now 04 gives like gp12 since better sensor, just kinda doubt about the weight vs 25inch, it gives more inertia , but from another hand av2 stable altitude hold and as I guess more reliable in terms of proximity if you fly around really expensive interior objects, right..? Unless it's electronics goes mad.....
I like the small one but at least in Japan buying Pavo pick + goggles + control or the fly woo make no sense. Avata2 most expensive set is 172.000 (3 battery+bag+goggle 3+ control, warranty 1 year) , the small fpv drone go around 160.000 😢
Did you fly both in 30 fps? And the shatter was in auto as you flew from out to indoor?,!
Yes 30fps and auto shutter on both
@@JonnyTrego look, what about comfortabilety flying in 30fps mode, something is changed with new goggles and o4 unit or its remaining same.?
What controller are you using for the Avata 2?
The fpv controller 3
I think it’s the fpv pilot in me that feels like the avata fly through looks more robotic/less natural and there’s no whoosh out the window, to add something whimsical or cool. You can get the look of an avata flythrough without a drone using matteport or something. I don’t know, I have a lot of affection for the avata but some looks are over polished and stabilized drones sometimes feel that way to me
I feel the same way you do, Also these were quick edits, I didnt add any of the sound treatment i normally do to add some flair. I think the difference will really show up when I fly houses that actually have peoples belongings in them
Air mode just keeps the PID loop active when the throttle is low. It has nothing to do with the drone being sucked into the walls.
Avata 2.
i think you can better walk with a camera in your hand for housetours, but oke. still awesome !
I think for an empty house you could be right, but for a house that is fully furnished a drone gives you a better path in my opinion.
@@JonnyTrego Yeah that sounds a bit more understable. Oke!
It looks to me that the Avata2 would do fine with interior drone tours.
it does fantastic with them!
why not just use the motion controller indoors? it seems smoother.
For me it just comes down to what I’m comfortable with, I’ve only used the motion controller once and I use the regular controller every day
@@JonnyTrego nice. i understand. give it a try. u might be surprised.
I flew with it at a golf course the day after I did those flights and I actually had a blast with it
i like the video, i wan to star using drone inside of the house , but the vdeo quality is kiling me, i need better quality
avata1 frame + avata2 ecu&camera ,,,,,,
bro.. dont to compare between two.. avata 2 offer convenience .. just that.. tho convenience is what videographer after 😂
Rates make no difference in angle/normal mode
They do
@@kumardeepam not in fpv
Why do u have so many google home devices😂
I love that you caught that lol my brother moved and didnt need them so he gave them to me but i already have a home full of them
I don't have any of the knowledge you have from the artist's perspective. As an agent and from a public pov. The avata 2 looks way nicer.
Also, the speed you flew the avata, from your inexperience with that drone, looked nicer to me.
I mean honestly that’s the only opinion that matters, it doesn’t matter what I say as an artist if the buyer isn’t happy with the end product! I appreciate your feedback🙏🏼
No. Of course not. It's not like that's what the avata 1 amd 2 were designed for or anything lol.
House your ear over blown in whites
