    Vortex Diamondback HD Binocular Review and Comparison!
    In this video we take a look at the Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars compared to the Bushnell Trophy binoculars. We review the basic features as well as my opinion on the glass and quality. We look at the focus, glass quality, light transmission and ease of use. We also discuss the Vortex Glasspak binocular harness and review it.
    The Diamondback® HD smashes the scale of price vs performance, delivering a rock-solid optic that optically punches high above its class. The included GlassPakTM binocular harness keeps your glass close at hand, ready to deploy at a moment's notice, all while providing protection and significantly more comfort than traditional neck straps.

    I have personally used Vortex's warranty twice. Left a Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40 on a Ruger M77, left the gun range in a hurry, left my tailgate down, rifle case slid out and disintegrated. Rifle and scope destroyed. Called Vortex, sent in scope at their expense, 10 days later, I had a new one.
    Second time, packing a mule deer buck out on a steep rockslide, my Howa 243 with a Vortex Viper scope on it, went bouncing down the rockslide when I took the pack off for a break. Scope dinged, front lebs broken, tube dented. Called Vortex, new scope in14 days. Customer for life of the company, here.

      funny because I had a diamondback scope that went out of zero and would not adjust I sent it to them they sent it back to me, within a week it did the same thing I asked them for a CREDIT so I could get a better vortex scope and they told me that they cannot do that, I could only send it back for repair…… screw those guys…..VORTEX sucks

    I bought a pair yesterday and I will agree with those saying the glasspack is a little small but the binos will go in the pouch with a small effort. I stood outside the store comparing the 12x50 with the vortex 10x40 and there was a noticeable magnification difference in image size. The image was so clear at distance that I think I saw a bird smile at me from the high line. So far I am pleased with the binos and the distance they will achieve.

    I just ordered mine 4-26-2020 . I decided to look on "you tube" just for fun, I researched the 12x50 very well. I also own Vortex 8x42 for a few yrs now and they are fantastic. I ordered the 12x50 because I wanted to see more and I should get them by 5/2/2020. I also got a great deal, I got binoculars w carrying pouch and some sort of cool flashlight all for the same price as everyone else was selling just the binocular for. Anyway nice video. Thanks for the very accurate review!

    I was using a cheap old pair of bino’s I pulled out of the hunting room that my father has had for probably 20 plus years. I went scouting for ducks and I swear they were so bad I was better off leaving them at home. Went to my local sports store that same day and I looked through these and I was blown away by the clarity. I got the 10x42’s and they were 200 bucks at my local store. I’ve had them for a few weeks now and they haven’t left my truck and they are always on me when I’m in the woods or in the blind. I’ve seen birds I never would’ve seen with the naked eye or cheap bino’s. Highly recommend these bino’s and anything vortex. Plus you can’t beat the VIP warranty, I was investigating their site and they have an example of someone’s bino’s that a bear munched on for a while and they covered it. That really appealed to me because I’ve had a bear tear up some of my gear in the woods before.

    I have the Diamondback HD 12x50. No matter how close I put the eyepieces together, I cannot get a full view from both eyes. There is some shadow distortion in one eye or the other. Does anyone else have this issue? I had the Vortex 10x32 Raptor and I did not have this issue.

    • @DankSandwich
      @DankSandwich Před rokem

      Well it’s a year late but what’s causing this is the lens covers. Take them off and the binos can get closer together. The 10x32 didn’t do this because the diameter Is smaller

      HD’s have a lense coating that helps cut down on chromatic abborations, so yes I would get the HD version.

    How will the old "non-HD" diamondback compare to the new crossfire HD? Will the HD upgrade outperform the product line difference? After the discount for old models on the non-HD, they have identical price.

      Check out optics exotica reviews on both, they are very comprehensive reviews and he actually films the view through the lenses,he likes the Diamondbacks but passionately hates the crossfire hds I've had both the crossfires and the diamondback hds and have to agree I hated the crossfire, the optics weren't great at all in them. My Diamondbacks hds aren't perfect and have a bit of chromatic abberation (the crossfires were way way worse) but are sharp and clear and pretty bright with minimal distortion, for the price they are excellent, just a note I went for the 8x32 hds in the diamondback as I wanted a more compact binocular and I love them so far, as I said not perfect but definitely good enough for what I use them for. To get better you would probably have to spend quite a bit more, I hope this helps

    Just today I started shopping for a "budget" set of binoculars for long range target shooting and hunting, with these at the top of the list. The timing for your review couldn't have been better as there doesn't seem to be a lot of feedback on the updated "HD" version of the Diamondbacks out there.

    Have you compared the binos to other top brands? I ask because I have a buddy that just got a brand new pair of the exact same ones and they didn't impress me that much. They were definitely nice and well built but not quite what I was expecting. Not trying to troll but just curious. Right at dusk one night were both hunting together and we both looked through my 5 year old vanguard binos and then through his vortex binos. We could both see a Coyote through mine that we couldn't pick up through his. I was surprised because I wanted his to be better so I would have an excuse to upgrade. haha

    • @Bullets4Bucks
      @Bullets4Bucks  Před 4 lety +2

      Firstly and I probably should have clarified this better in the review is I recommend these and believe they are great as a budget category binocular. Unfortunately I do not have the money to truly compare every brand or even several brands at once. From the binoculars I have owned or have used in this price category these seem to be the best to me. I appreciate the comment :) I wish I had the ability to test them against more brands. Thank you for the input.

  • @thistledewoutdoors3331

    I have both - The vortex definitely are NOT better.... Lighter & free bino harness yes,,, the Bushnell glass is clearer & had less color separation and haziness around outer lense than the vortex... The eye cups/focus is cheaper / looser feeling on the vortex.... I just drove 150 miles to my states Cabela's to swap the vortex out for new ones and the new ones aren't much better than the old ones... Even the guys at Cabela's were surprised. The Bushnell has a great warranty too...... I went to buy a spotter too & the Cabela's brand scope was better too !!!! I went home empty handed except for my swapped out vortex. Only bought those for extras for my son or a buddy to use...
