Would love to see a more conservative build for the regular guy. Bullbar, raised air intake, 2” lift and some 33” a/t tires. Nothing crazy like a big ass canopy from patriot campers or a complete slide up kitchen with running water.
Keep it simple like most people do instead off making it a rolling showroom of expensive stuff.

Every channel or TV show has done the "ultimate" set up a million times over on ever vehicle they have. I think we're bored of it. Those that have $30k+ to throw at a brand new vehicle just off the showroom floor have been endlessly catered for. I think we all want the bits n pieces and old gear reviews on individual items and ideas. Well over these pre fab'd, plug n play over priced Swiss army knives. We aren't all rich tradies.

Hey Ronny. Good choice. Iike alot of other comments, I would like to see this build kept to a realistic budget. Some many people who have a channel like your self do builds that are very cool but not what the average guy can try to do with there own vehicle. It would be great to see a "real" build and just see how capable a 4x4 can be with only the must have upgrades. Looking forward to watching this one!

I upgraded to the 2019 Hilux Invincible X (UK Model), previously had a 2001 MK4 Hilux that I used daily and took up to 418,000kms. The reason I had to change was emissions, my work sometimes takes me to the big cities, and London was £100 (AUS$182) per day to enter in my old one! Manchester starts charging in the next couple of years too. Although a totally different beast in comparison, when the going gets tough it still has the confidence inspiring feel of my old Hilux, my main test so far has been a day in the ice and snow a week after getting it! My first mod were some Aussie Black Duck Canvas Seat covers - which my sister kindly shipped out of WA just before Covid Restrictions hit the UK.

Great choice. I recently bought the 2019 version and love it. Put on an Aeroklas canopy and tub liner, then took it on the beach in the stock tyres (deflated of course) and it didn't miss a beat, even in the soft stuff. Glad they put in Apple car play/Android Auto in the 2020, but it's not wireless unlike the competitors. The power in the 2019 whilst not quite as much as your 2020 is still pretty sweet, especially compared to my 20 year old Prado which it replaced. Enjoy. Looking forward to the mods update as I too am looking at how to improve what I currently have without breaking the bank account needlessly for general touring and some moderate off-road.

Hey, first of all congrats on a new truck. As for the content - this is the perfect chance to make a comparison video of stock vs modified, but with a difference. Why not find a reasonably difficult track, that would be almost on the limits of what a stock Hilux can manage, to use it (track) as a "controlled" one - drive the car stock. And then repeat the drive after each new modification just to see what mod actually makes what difference to performance?..

Welcome back to the hilux club Ronnie. Awesome to see
as someone who bought a new hilux in 2017 and added modifications before I even picked it up.... after 3 years.... do not get a hard lid it massively restricts what you can put into the back tub AND it's a royal pain having to climb in when stuff slides all the way to the back (my boss made that mistake and ended up getting rid of the hard lid and now has an ARB canopy), I still have the tonneau cover but want to change the tub for a custom aluminium tray & removable 1/2 canopy. Toyota plastic tub liner is ok, not great but it's ok for protecting the tub inside, there are better tub liners out there.
a MUST get for the hilux... tub tie down points, bonnet gas struts and tail gate gas struts... with an extremely heavy bonnet & tail gate... these should come standard on the SR5 but don't.
Out of curiosity... does your hilux come with AC vents in the rear of the center console? and do the rear seats lift up with extra storage underneath?

Congrats with the new car Ronny. To be honest, i would like to see something more related to the reality, not like when you have a never ending gold mine and you can buy everything. So you've bought the new vehicle, great! Now justify every purchase. Not from the prospective "because I can", but rather "why do I need to spend money on it?". For example, you don't like the stock wheels and tyres. Ok, show us these places where they fail and then replace them. Show that you really needed to go over something rugged because you needed, not because you wanted to go over ruts having a normal route just next to it. I have my 2010 hilux on highway tyres. I went everywhere, on beaches, on rocks, sand, mud and i never got bogged on this car. But i simply won't go to a deep shithole just because i want to test my car. No. There has to be a reason why I need to go there.

You should find a 4x4 track close to home the has a bit of everything that you can use as a benchmark. Every time you do a mod you should take it back to the track and show how it was better or worse. It's should be a pretty tough track that has sections that should stop most standard 4x4s. Let's see the limits of what this car can do grow.
