Thank you for teaching me the rapid plunger trick. The toilet has been sluggish ever since we had people in installing a new floor. What came out was one of our dog's small toothbrushes. I guess "somebody" knocked it into the toilet by mistake.

It’s clear you have no idea what you are doing. You are just trying to compress air and air is highly compressible do very little happens. The plunger is designed to use hydraulic pressure. You do that by filling the plunger with water which is not compressible then use the up and down action. This way you are multiplying the force many times.
I was using my plunger wrong. I didn't even know about that suction part that comes out. This helped me, thank you!

What do you do if you have the right plunger, but the bowl is not round but elongated, and you can not get a proper seal?

Are you plunging with air or water? after the first plunge it's just air back n forth.
It's the air that forces the clog out of the pipe
