- Stevens has brought out the Model 301Turkey in .410 Gauge geared specifically towards Federal's TSS Turkey load. We go over the features of this shotgun and shoot .410 TSS out to 30 and 40 yards!! You can find this and more Stevens shotguns on our KyGunCo website!!
My 14 year old smoked his tom at 38 yards this year with this gun I bought him, I'll use it too! Awesome gun I feel plenty confident in out to that 40ish yard range!
Thank`s for sharing Federal`s TSS Turkey load ammo. and Stevens special 301 Turkey .410 shotgun . Another way to bring the Turkey home .
Thank you for this excellent and comprehensive video. I bought a couple of boxes of the Federal TSS and a Steven’s 301-similar RIA break action .410 turkey gun with an XFull choke. I have 12 gauge shotguns and Remington turkey shot shells, but am looking forward to using the little .410 for harvesting my gobblers.
Blessings, Grace and Peace
Who would of ever thought a 410 would throw that kind of pattern at 40 yards. When I started hunting it took a great 12 guage to take a turkey at 40 yards and 35 was more like it. Great video and keep them coming please.
CHIRS is a good guy and a very good camera guy he filmed me taken 2 deer in a wheelchair hunt. I will be getting some federal's for my 410
Love that model of shotgun. Going to get one in 410, 20 & 12 each month till I have all three.
The is epic. I'm a big 410 fan. You can take tons of game with 410 just know the limits.
Pull the target off the box, flip it around backwards and hold it up against the sky. Then we can see the holes and pattern perfect.
Exactly best way ,must not be your first rodeo 🦃
Nice to see a recoil pad on any shotgun. My first .410 was a Mossberg 500E (#50335) "Camper" with pistol grip purchased in 1991. Acquiring some Rexio .410 buckshot I found out just how formidable the .410 could be. My next .410 was a Rossi Matched Pair (single shot) with 22" modified choked barrel. It is super accurate. I love the top break shotgun design. Never thought of a .410 for turkeys but your combo of gun and ammo makes sense. At nearly 70 years old and being cripple I don't enjoy shooting my 870 Police in 12ga (#5028) anymore, but a .410 is just right for me. Interesting video, well done.
Wish y’all would’ve let me enter the turkey contest this year. I want one of these for my daughter. Definitely diving down the .410 rabbit hole.
A person called Kyle Smith first brought out Tss , As far as i know 15+ years ago it came in packs of enough to do 10 carts .
great gun!
love this gun
Please make a shot like TSS. For my older shotguns. I love my 2 3/4 shootguns
I'm waiting to get stuff in order so I can get these from you 2 with consecutive serial numbers. Taurus g2c accented with pink. I want some twins
What different choke can I buy for this to shoot slugs
ì bought 301 410 and plan to use it but the season ìs half over and can't find no shells know where ìn 3 stàtes you got any hélp
When will these be back in stock?
they are sale at Bass Pro and Cabelas and they dont have any never got any where can you buy one checked all over
How do you think this shotgun would work for dove, quail, rabbit and squirrel?
I sighted mine in yesterday with a truglo tube sight..... them turkeys are in trouble if they come within 40 yards!
Like to see an affordable side by side with chokes too
I personally use a really really old (1890s model) double barrel 410 for turkeys
I love my 301 410 but it shoot bad low at 40 yards but the shells is to expensive for me to be target practiceing with to get the gun set at 40 yards
They also come in 12 and 20 gauge !!!
I like this gun from thailand
si tienen alguna escopetas 410 en 2 caños usadas pasar precios
That pattern at 40 yards sold me,nice shooting for squirrels and any small game.
1 Do you have any Mossberg blemish left . 2 any black Blemish Double Barrel home security
Why did the ejector fail to eject the round after the second shot?
It did eject the shell, both times.
This is perfect for my 10 year old!
Could the ammo be used for water fowl hunting ? Is it totally lead free?
Yup, pure tungsten so lead free.
Out of stock on your website.
I wish this load were available is 2 1/2 inch, not just 3. My 410 has the short chamber. Sigh.
Do you have to only hunt Turkey with this gun or can you use it for waterfowl with steel ?
No you can't hunt anything else with it
If the shot were larger in three inch you could try if your law allow
I use a Thompson center contender 410 handgun with a 12 inch barrel for small game just keep my shots under 20 yards
Love that pistol it has chokes
I ordered this gun today at cabelas, do i have to use federal TSS with this shotgun?
You ever find out?
No u don’t have to just any 410 should work other than I’m guessing theses have a tight choke so don’t use slugs in it in less u can confirm it can pass through.
I was interested in this shogun for my son until I found out it’s made in China. So I’m going to keep looking for a single shot 410 with screw in choke tubes
Do you sell different cokes for it.
Someone needs to make a TSS 16 gauge shell for turkeys. I know they have fallen from grace but there are still some of us out here hunting turkeys with a 16. I mean if there are 410 turkey shells there certainly should be some 16's.
Apex does.
Contact Apex ammo
I like the 16 also.
16 seems to be rare compared to 410 example Walmart has a crap load of 410 a shelf full. 16 just a few with very limited shot sizes.
Is there a particular reason why Stevens or savage , does not make this in other gauges
They do...Savage website says 410, 20 and 12
Rngrfromthemtns I went to it and looked and did not see what you saw which means I screwed up , thanks for telling me.
Cool gun and I would've bought one if it had an AR Style adjustable stock dipped in bottomland. The idea is .410 turkey gun right? Whos going to use a .410 turkey gun mostly... youth. Why not have at least a youth stock but if you wanted to market adults too, have an AR adjustable stock so it appeals to more people?
APEX loads 9.5 in the 410,superior to Federal load imo, thanks for the video always enjoy patterning
Sandy Barnett
I use Winchester Super X #4 in a single shot 12ga with a fixed mod choke.
I'll argue it's even better than that
Where can I buy one of these guns?
Academy
are you only aloud to shoot tss in this gun can you shoot any ammo
Did you find out?
I’d like to know
Do they make 410 pump action shotguns?
Yep. Mossberg and Remington both make a great one.
Yes Mossburg 500 combo
I have a 410 pistol grip pump Mossberg . Wish it had choke tubes it would rock with small shot i would change it back to cylinder for slugs.
I got 1 box of 5 sells for $24.99 and that was the sale price the 12 gauge was $28.99 on sale so they are plenty pricey
I watched a video on CZcams, of a guy dropping his turkey using #6 game load in his 410. Considerably cheaper...
The ammunition is the cheapest part of the hunt, regardless of what/how your hunting. And it's not like your going to pop off 150 rounds of these at the local trap shoot anyways.
I’d like to try this rig. If somebody is looking for somebody that hunts turkey to try this out I’ll gladly try it out. I’ll film it and get the video out there.
Súng này còn không
Pretty expensive shooting there 40.00 a box for 5 ??? woah !
How much
Qual é o valor Rapais
Next time you want to show patterns on a turkey target...pull the target off whatever target stand your using and look at the back. The pattern shows up much better than marking holes.
Shoot and see's or dirty bird targets would've made this video top notch 🤷🏼♂️.
Could this she'll be used for squirrel?
I use mine for squirrel.
The gun? Absolutely!
The ammo? $4+ per shell for squirrels? You go right ahead!
Yes, the gun for squirrels. Jeremy Keiser what shot do you use for squirrels?
@@jeremykeiser9621 what shot do you use for squirrels?
New idea.... TSS loads for waterfowl. Would it be worth it or too expensive??
Caleb Christensen those loads obviously aren’t steel shot 🤦🏼♂️🙄
Would be far too expensive if turkey loads are around $5 a shot
Too bad they dont make single Stevens like they use too
Well if you know someone over at savage call them and let them know they are totally missing the boat by not having this gun available at retailers. It’s turkey season it’s a new gun and you cannot buy it anywhere.
jmercmon
$20 for a turkey choke in your average shotgun and boom!
Instant turkey gun...
S U R V I V O R you obviously do not turkey hunt that much. For those that live to Turkey hunt any old shotgun and a $20 tube would never cut it. But that’s not the point here a gun you can’t buy that’s advertised all over the place is just stupid. I got my 410 fix anyway with a Henry single shot 410. Throw on an optic and an $80 choke tube and that’s a gun any real turkey hunter would take in the woods.
jmercmon
I've been using a H&R single shot 12ga with a fixed mod choke since 2007. I always use Winchester Super X steel goose loads for turkey.
Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, it has served me well on many a hunt.
You don't need the latest and greatest thing on the market just to hunt turkeys.
Besides, anyone who lives to turkey hunt wouldn't use a 410...
jmercmon
But I will say those Henrys are pretty awesome guns.
I've been thinking of getting the 12ga
I shoot tss in my .20 gauge
A 1 1/2 ounce 3 inch 20 gauge TSS load of number 7 and 9 pellets is medicine for geese at 60 yards.
I wish they made one in 20 gauge......
They do. It's not turkey specific like the 410, but it has screw in chokes and I'm sure you could find an extra full turkey choke for it
They do go to savage website look up the 410 301 an it has an option for 20ga are 410
🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Is it just me or does this look like the spitting image of a Rossi single shot .410?
George Chin I picked up a Rossi in the gun store and went with the Stevens
I think Its a cross between a NEF and Rossi
@@megan6228 They do seem pretty similar except that Rossis have that left side safety lever I don't see on a NEF. I would need one in my hands to be 100% sure and work one over with calipers and a micrometer.
Why don't home defense and shorter shot guns only come in cylinder choke only. I know they say best for slugs but I would think an 18 inch barrel with chokes would rock. Imagine an 18 inch pump with full choke with 00 buck. Wouldn't it extend your range etc. Better in lots of ways .when that comes out I'm on it like a fat kid and cake.
Because a lot of those are made to have a good amount of spread with the shot within hall way distance for self defense because u don’t want all the shot all on top of each other in those short distances
@@manlythings7586 cilinder bore has a fist like pattern way past hallway distance, this pull the trigger and everything in front is destroyed is Hollywood. The Winchester SPX makes an 18 inch home defense shot Gunn with chokes my next shotgun.
About the ejector comment the ejector is made to push to shell up so you can pull it out instead of popping you in the face every time you open the breach
Hold the target up to the sky
I have the same shotgun in the 12 gauge model. Well satisfied with it thus far. Here is a link to my review of the 12 gauge model czcams.com/video/pz6QKzbQMSI/video.html
spent $199 on the gun and $30/box of five shells.
Good luck finding ammo
12ga is too easy for turkey?
Guess the old 10ga is a youth gun...
With modern TSS ammo (18 gram per cc) shot, 410s are outperforming the lead loads we used in 10 and 12ga guns 10years ago
Jason Mcalpin
Lol!
He's right dumbass...
I like my Ithaca Mag 10 never had one to fly off yet lol
no way i would shoot a turkey at 40 yards with that set up ! now with that said i did purchased a box for a 20 ga i'm going to try .
Good luck finding ammo for a 410
Too bad you can't find one anywhere in stock and season is approaching quickly. Seems like poor marketing. Who wants to buy a gun and have to wait a year to use it?
Tuttle 3
Just because a gun says "turkey" on it doesn't mean it's the only gun you can hunt turkeys with.
I've been using a single shot 12ga with a fixed mod choke for years.
If you already have a shotgun that uses choke tubes you already have a turkey gun
@@johnt4060 A further note: Rossi sells a 28" barrelled 410, with modified choke that patterns pretty good long range. And it's available nearly everywhere.
Gun and tungsten shot from China, same as the turkey dolls
So you dont own anything made from China?
Idc if made in china but what gets me is the price of ammo. Here in NY its $30 for 5 shots of .410 tss.
DittO Federal ahead of the pack tha'r Be perfect 4 G/daughter who is barely 90 lbs! probably way outa my price range ;(! always fond of the 410!
$199
too far away. That's a 25 yd gun with those loads. Great then 👍
At $5.60 a shotshell for TSS... no thanks!
Exactly what i was thinkin, besides only 10, 12, and 20s legal in illinois and 7 and a half shot legal
all thats going do make using 410 illegal for hunting again might be for the best
410 with ultra expensive ammo? I'll pass...
I'll stick with my 12ga single shot with a fixed mod choke shooting Winchester Super X #4 steel waterfowl loads.
Been using that old H&R pardner for years and it hasn't let me down
How far are you comfortable shooting that?
Should of just deleted your comment after you typed “I use duck loads”🤣what a damn fool 🤣🤦🏼♂️
Silvereagle90000
It’s good out to 75yds with lead but I like to keep it within 50 with steel.
A fixed Mod choke on my shotgun has a spread similar to a full choke tube.
Tanner Sands
Notice that last part of my comment?
“It hasn’t let me down”?
If it works it works.
You may think the only thing that can kill a turkey is the overpriced bs with a fancy box. I could prove you otherwise but to each their own
Well I can assure you that I haven’t bought a box of TSS loads YET. And me and my buddy smoked 2 nice long beards this morning at 11 yards with some basic Kent’s. Trust me I know I don’t need some expensive loads to kill a bird. It’s just fascinating that a 9 shot penetrates Better than a #5
If a .410 is kicking the crap out of your kids. Maybe you need to toughen them up a bit. Protein and work usually does the job.
Long beard xr is better hands down
Your an idiot.
Considering they dont make a 410 Round you have no clue what you are talking about joeseph
Get closer....
Can't youse 9 shot for Turkey don't care how heavy it is .6 or bigger shot .u'll stay with my 12 ga.
And your a moron who knows nothing about ballistics
Tim Farris 🤣I’d hate to be as dumb you man😮🤦🏼♂️. Your literally so so dumb and uneducated 🤣. Like do some research before going on here typing your comment only to look like an idiot 🤷🏼♂️those #9s will penetrate deeper than the #5s lead load And btw learn how to properly spell.
Jesus loves and died for you repent and believe and put your faith in Him dying on the cross, be born again and be saved from eternal hell. Jesus loves you all a ton
Nice idea for a gun.. But anything with the Savage name sucks.. Absolutely junk.. Save your money & buy a Remington 870 or an 1100 in 410..
Your crazy man. Savage makes a better gun now than most gun companies. dont hate the Savage"" love it.
Love my Mossberg 410 pump versatile fun good for the girlfriend and kid. I got a Mossberg 410 bolt gun too takes a mag.
What's wrong with Savage shotguns? Do they misfire?
@@danielsilvas6200 I really like my extremely lightweight COBRAY model D single shot .410 shotgun.
It is a very reliable hunting, survival gun.
It has a synthetic shoulder stock and a 18" inch barrel.
It only weighs 1.5 pounds !
IT IS THE WORLD'S LIGHTEST .410 SHOTGUN.
It can be painful to shoot with 3" inch high velocity 000 Buckshot, but fun !
I bought the option rubber shoulder stock recoil pad for it which helps soften the recoil much more.
LOL....gonna be lots of wounded birds with that crap. I don't care how tight it might be. Even at 30 yds there is not enough power in a 410.
Yea ur just wrong, the gauge of the gun has nothing to do with penetrating power of the pellets, at 1100 FPS that’s plenty of power.
I don't know dropped 3 so far 20-25 on 2 3 rd 30 yards no6 lead
I’ve killed all the turkeys I’ve shot at with a 20 gauge at over 30 yards and never wounded one
Ur dumb
You are wrong.
Any gun with a plastic action is a piece of cheap made junk.
