Do you guys even know the longevity of waldner and his accomplishments? waldner was an innovator, chinese copied his style there is simply no comparison. they are both great but in different eras. u cant compare with same criteria because it is unfair for both players

Poly ball really fucked over Zhang Jike’s game and most other players while Ma Longs playstyle allowed him to be minimally affected by the ball change, making it one of the factors of his domination in the mid 2010s until age and injury started creeping up and Fan Zhendong reached his peak in form. However older Ma Long is a different beast on its own and is only matched by other beasts like FZD or his younger self.

Totally agree, Ma Lin lost 3 WTTC in final and Wang Hao lost his 3 finals in Olympic Games and the final of WTTC 2011 and 2013 :/ I think i would add Timo Boll as an unlucky player too, he wasn't able to repeat his performance in World Cup for the Olympic Games...

Well yes, he has been World number one, he has been the biggest threat for China from 2002 to 2013 approximatly. For me he was unlucky in Olympic Games because of 3 tragic lost : Oh Sang Eun, Adrian Crisan, Quadri Aruna. He has never won a Olympic medal in men's single even though he had a good ranking. That's in my opinion he was unlucky.

Yupp, would say that Vlady is super unlucky. He's amazingly talented, and at age 40 or so is still giving the Chinese a hard time, which in this era, is mind-boggling. He's similar to Waldner but without the titles, in my opinion.

Zhang jike is a better player than malong for sure . Being grandslam in just 445 days . Who can do it .. just zjk . Also zjk did win wang hao while ml couldnt . Also jike defeated malong in 2014 while he had injury in his back and ml was in his peak . So zjk is better for sure and also a special person
