Another milestone for german darts
As a german i am so proud of how Martin came back after that first set. Bunting played so well all the time but Schindler did what he had to do to beat him. What an unbelievable game from both! What an epic game from Schindler
As a Brit, I frown upon the crowd booing Schindler. He didn’t deserve that at all. He and Bunting treated us to a great game and they didn’t appreciate it like us real darts fans.
@@xtheamazingax Well, i don´t think this was a big issue. It´s not the Ally Pally and there were just a few who were booing. In my opinion this was just because of the old battle between England and Germany and not meant to be "against" Schindler.

@15:16 I love when work away from the oche pays off! I see so many counting errors from even the best players in the world, many of whom stay on the 19s when hitting a T19 first dart on 299. That would be completely wrong! Hitting T19 off 299 leaves 242 with 2 darts in hand. From there you should either go 18s or bull. Hitting S18 leaves 224 with 1 dart left from which you can still leave a finish. Hitting the Bull would leave 192 from which point your last dart should also be at the bull as 25 would leave 167, also a finish. Or, if you hit a 25 2nd dart, you are on 217, from which point both T20 and T19 leave a finish. However, if you stay on the 19s and hit a S19 2nd dart you are left with 223 and only 1 dart in hand which makes it impossible to leave any kind of finish.
Well said. What surprises me is how many top players fail to count sub-400.
Say you have 402 after your first visit, most pros will just hammer away at 20s and if they have a crap visit they could be on 342, which needs 9 darts to finish. Why would they not leave themselves 344 which can be finished in 6 darts instead? The edges are so small at the top of the game, but this is an area that players neglect.
@@AllThisOverASliceOfGabagool I 100% agree with you. I've come up with a darting term, "double bogey," which is basically a number that if you hit a 180 you are left on a bogey. Namely, 349, 348, 346, 345, 343, 342, 339. These are numbers top players should really put more effort trying to avoid leaving themselves on.
The counter argument to your example is 302 is slightly easier to end up on a finish from then 308 but if players really thought in advance, 2 darts left from 382 they should already go 18s so that a treble 2nd or 3rd dart would leave 310 (S20 T18 S18 from 402) or 304 (S20 S18 T20) both of which are better than 302 or 308.
I took a lot away from this read, tacticswise but also bumped up my admiration of Germo!

I’m actually shocked that Gary lost to Gilding, but this is what I mean when nobody’s safe in the grand prix. Smith and Price made their 3-0 wins look pretty easy when they really weren’t.

Haha, imagine playing in a tournament, with an excellent Stephen Bunting and you can influence your outcome in the draw bracket with an group phase and can say in your interview " Yeah, i really dogded a bullet here" 😂if you dont need to play Stephen because of that 😂

Nothing should surprise me at this event but my word i didnt expect Gilding to beat Anderson, i thought Gary would win quite easily but u just cant write anyone off in this sport. Bunting played an astonishing set against Schindy and i thought he would win but again i was wrong and Schindler composed himself and played well to turn it around. Straightforward wins for Price and Smith and u have to be a brave man to bet against them meeting in the semis but from what ive seen so far im never gonna rule out Gilding or Schindler but they will have a tough task on their hands. I had the pleasure of meeting both Price and Smith after their matches outside the venue and they r both nice guys and had a laugh with them especially Smith he is so down to Earth and humble even though it was late he still had time to have a proper chat and a good laugh. Honestly made my day meeting two of my 4 favourite players and now ive met all of them, MVG and Clayton being the other two.

Michael Smith is an unstoppable machine when he's on. I really like watching him throw because it makes me feel like I'm not shooting too quickly.
You don't see too many people shooting with brass darts anymore. Gilding is seriously old school, or possibly just really cheap.😉

Be fair, Price has mellowed in the last year or two. ( he needed too), so well done to him for doing so.
Never really like the format of sets and legs. Someone could win more legs than their opponent yet still be beaten. The same in tennis and a few other sports.
I think gerwin price is great hope he does well but I want van gerwin to win 😊

so many experts , darts has changed a lot in a short time , anyone of these can win. if u never have played darts , double start double finish is hard miss , behind the eight ball . almost impossible to catch up. for my money it will be a shootout , michael smith the bully boy and gerwin price the ice man .the winner , oh yeah michael!

Anderson needs to re-evaluate his career a tad in where it is. The competition right now is too hot for him to hang with. He may have his bursts of glory now and then, but I don't think it'll last long and it's being shown here.
