- Here is an install of the ARB Differential Cover on my 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x. We used the Lube Locker gasket in place of the usual sealant to hopefully have more luck keeping the oil inside the diff cover. #nissan #frontier #nissanfrontier #2024
Make sure to go watch @ghostlyrich to see his point of view on this install and more!

Dude, I'm back! I just did mine. Thanks to your video, it went like a charm. I was having the damndest time getting the sway bar to stay outta my workspace so I folded it up and zip tied it up to the spare tire chain to keep it out of the way. Worked like a dream. Seriously, I can't thank you enough for documenting!
Glad it helped out. So far mine is holding up strong.
It's more of an assembly issues but Nissan is aware of this and fixes this with the right gasket that lasts... with no charge i think...
Ohhhhhhhhh SHIT! Seek and ye shall find. I was asking about which you bought in your last video. Now I get to see you install it?! What a deal! Nice work you guys. Looking forward to doing mine.
Loving the videos! Keep up the good work brother!
Appreciate that. Thank you 💪
That's about as thorough as it gets, nice job.
That gasket is so cool. ARB diff cover should be every Pro-4X owners' first upgrade.
I just recently got a new '23 pro 4x 3 months ago. I'm definitely not a gear head, but I want to get the most out of my truck, and make it last as long as possible. Is this an upgrade that you would recommend doing soon, or waiting until you notice the rear diff leaking? I don't drive the truck all the time. I try to use my old beater as my daily commuter. So it's not racking up a ton a miles.
@@ToothCracker If you're taking the truck offroad, I would switch out the stock cover for the ARB. It looks cool. With the gasket, it looks even easier to install than using the Permatex goop.
Next time use the Valvoline diff oil, it comes in an easy squeeze bag.
Thanks I’m doing it
Excellent how-to vid, thanks! What's the torque spec for the sway bar bolts?
If I remember right it was 96ft lbs
I replaced my 04 mustangs rear diff oil last October and it wasn’t that bad except for the bad rotten egg smell, I used royal purple 74-90w I believe, I wanted to get the 140 but since it’s a car that never tows it’s okay. I did buy a lube locker gasket for it but I instead went traditional and used the sealant, kept the gasket for the future because I’ve heard that gaskets aren’t as good as the factory sealant
I have a 2023 Frontier P4X and my manual says 75w-90 for the rear diff. 80-90w for front. I installed the Nissan Titan aluminum finned rear diff cover from Spicer and I used that Gasket, it is a nice gasket, can be re used to. I notice also that my OEM cover was not sealed correctly from factory.
I believe the 75w-90 is for the non p4x models. It's the c200 rear end if I remember right but I could be wrong
@@CanadianCruisin Yes, the nissan rear end (c200) uses the 75w-90 for diff oil. The Dana rear ends use the 75w-140. As your Pro-4x has a Dana part number you are correct with the diff oil you used. I think (I’m pretty sure) that if you have a locking diff, it’s a Dana axle (just in Nissan wrappings). Also, just an FYI tip, if you warm the oil first (put it in a bucket with hot water from your faucet or GENTLE heat from a space heater, etc) it’ll flow much easier when you go to put it in the rear end. Just be sure you wipe off any water.
@k1sfd1974 good to know thank you. And yeah now that you mention the locking diff I think you're right. That would be the difference
@@CanadianCruisin I looked again at my manual and it says 75w-90 for final drive rear axle. There is nothing listed for 75w-140. Nothing says M200 or M226 .
Rear end for 3rd gen Frontier, they all use M226. Only different is locker equipped and non locker equipped depending on the trim. They all use 75W-90. No more C200
What is your lift? Will to bottle fit under there with stock height? That's a nice looking cover! Reasonable price for the upgrade.
FYI all third gens irrespective of trim or locking rear use the M226 rear end.
sick video....🤙🏼 I'd like to do this just for the color .... How do i find out which dif cover i need? I have a 2024 pro4x.... How she holding up?
Thanks. It should be the same cover for 2024 and my 2023. If you order from ARB or Z1 offroad they both have the years it fits. I believe they should be identical. So far its holding up great.
I'm secretary waiting for my rear diff to start leaking so I can do this upgrade.... The red looks sick, I would definitely choose it over black.
Thanks. I'm glad I went with red once it was on the truck
The same one I got!
It looks so good.
hey quick question. do you have any vibration in your steering wheel (over 60 mph) when driving on highway/city?
I get a slight vibration in the wheel only on the highway but that's only started after I added the bigger tires. Not sure if they're not balanced quite right or it it's just from the more aggressive tire on the pavement.

If it isn't leaking I wouldn't worry about it. The breather mod I would invest in though. Apparently the stock breather corrodes and fails pretty easy. I also have a video on my channel of that as well.
@@CanadianCruisin Thanks man!
If your truck diff isn't leaking there's no reason to mess with the diff cover. The stock steel unit is perfectly fine...a better use of money is to buy replacement gear oil and keep up with maintenance.
Just a question, With all the mods you have done. Why you still using the OEM bumpstops?
It's on the list to upgrade. I couldn't find any I really liked at the time I lifted the truck.
@@CanadianCruisin Thanks for the videos and all the info you provide. Truck looks great. I just ordered the parts for my truck lift.
I had a quick question about something that I haven't seen covered yet about these trucks up north in Canada. Do they have the auto stop start function that shuts the engine down when fully stopped at a red light? I ask because there is a button in the US model to turn this function off but it seems to be absent on the same spot on the Canadian trucks. I am in the market for one of these trucks soon and have been doing some research and noticed this. A quick comment, video or short on this would be helpful sir, thanks
Also, your friends torque wrench is cool can you you ask him the model and where to get it thanks!
@ebensteven8138 I think the auto start button is up in Canada now but it was one of the features taken out during the chip shortage. I bought mine early 2023 just before they were added back in
@@ebensteven8138 it's a snap on torque wrench. They're pricey but pretty cool.
If you get a 2022 or early 2023 model they don’t have start/stop at all.
wouldn't a leak be covered under warranty?
Probably but I figured they would probably blame it on the lift and bigger tires so not worth my time. And now it looks way better as well
I wouldn't even worry... The first thing you should buy for any Pro-4X is the ARB diff cover. Robust cover.
Aren’t the differentials having failures? I’d bet if yours fails Nissan will blame the diff cover as voided warranty. I’m on Facebook frontier group and people (not everyone) are reporting differential failure around 60-80k
@@dohc1974 then I'll have to get a beefier one lol
@@dohc1974 The diff has been around forever…. I can’t imagine it failing at this point.
How did you get the last diff bolt out?
I dropped the swaybar out of the way
