Cycle from Adelaide City to Glenelg Beach on a Separated Bike Path!

- This is a fun and easy cycle from Adelaide City to Glenelg Beach along the Mike Turtur Bikeway, a separated bike path that follows the tram line.
It's a great cycle to do with the family, an easy and safe 10km/30min each way (depending on speed) or a quick ride out for a swim and coffee at the beach!

Another great video. Another way to go from the city to the beach is on the River Torrens Linear Park Trail to West Beach, no roads to cross and can also continue to ride down to Glenelg on a bike path.
Yes, that's another favourite of mine 😀 it's a great loop from city, Linear Park, Coast Path, Glenelg and back to city on Mike Turtur. Or continue on to Marino Rocks along coast then back to city along Marino Rocks Greenway. So many options and I love how they all connect 😁👊🚴♂️
Great video. It may have been worth mentioning the tram tracks on Jetty Road. They have brought a few cyclists down after getting their narrow tyres caught in them. Great idea for promoting the pathways.
Sorry, I just saw your message now! Thank you :D and yes, you are so right about the tram tracks, It's hard enough to navigate the pedestrians and traffic down Jetty Road let alone the tram tracks! It would be nice for the bikeway to continue all the way to the beach, fingers crossed it will happen one day.
@@CyclewithSerafina Saw you on the front page of the paper, too!
Hi Serafina, heard your interview on the radio about your childhood and could relate in some ways, but more interesting love that I’d just moved to SA and love cycling. I did the Glenelg ride yesterday! Perfect weather for a perfect ride! Thank you! Have a delicious day!
Yay! Welcome to SA 😀 there's so much to explore by bike, you're going to love it 😍🚴♀️
...did you also grow up in a cult, or similar type situation?
Great video, very inspiring. Would love a video of returning from Glenelg along the coast to Henley Beach and then along the Linear Park Trail back into Adelaide.
My wife and myself travel these pathways on our Mobility Scooters. A little nervous about getting lost as we have limited battery life. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Hi 😀 thanks for watching! Unfortunately I'm not creating any more bike path videos in Adelaide, but I have made videos on those sections separately which should help with navigation? (it's one of my favourite loops by the way!) Check out my other bike path videos, I hope it helps 👉 Adelaide's Bike Paths, Routes & Circuits: czcams.com/play/PLmKbv0a72aqwZQY3fad25DjP5t9wZJMjT.html
Thanks for the fantastic video. Keep it up!
Thanks Rajan! 🚴♀️😀
Amazing energy
Thanks for watching! 😀🚴♂️
Like the music Good video and great community service
Thanks! 😃👊🚴♀️
That good Ride did it lots of times
Stuart O'Grady! okay I was wrong. it was Pre O'Grady or maybe it Mike was in his last one the fourth was. Not really a bike path more a broken path filled with sections of road intermixed. But your right once it gets to Mike's path it is all the way to... oh no Jetty road...
Hiya 😃 it's a great separated bike path for commuters, families, and anyone wanting to stay safe while cycling out to Glenelg! No need to worry about getting lost either, just follow the tramline all the way to the end 😁🚴🚴 ...jump on the footpath, or use back streets for the last section (Jetty Rd).
Hi Serafina! Recently discovered your channel and absolutely love your videos!! You're inspiring me to hop back on the bike! Just wondering what the song is that you use in this video? It's so catchy!
Hi! thanks for watching! and yay for being inspired to get back on your bike! it's exactly why I make the videos 😍 I used to get my music from CZcams's free music library, but I can't remember what it's called, and pretty sure I don't have it downloaded anymore. I'll check tomorrow for you 🤞🎶😃
Oh ok, hope you find it! You have such an infectious and bubbly personality, it's a joy to watch all your videos! And it's awesome learning about all these bike paths in Adelaide, keen to get outside and try them!
Hey 😃 I couldn't find that song (sorry!) but you've inspired me to start putting a link to the music I use, in the description, so people can find it if they like it 🎶🤩🎶 so big thanks for that!
Cool music!! Not the usual clang-a-lang...
Glad you like it! 😍
Nice video!
Its right, that even an adult must wear a helmet not only on bicycle but also on skateboard, inline skates or a razor push scooter?
Thanks! 😁 ...you have to wear a helmet while riding a bike and on electric scooters, other than that, I don't think it's law to wear a helmet on skates, skateboard or push scooters but it's advised 😊
could you do a video on the charles walk where it comes to king william road, I get lost everytime trying to find mike turtur, I should also ad, I am on a mobility scooter so I need to avoid train and tram crossings
Hi Aaron 😃 is that the one that goes through Park Side? I've been meaning to do a vid on that one, a good reminder!
@@CyclewithSerafina yes it starts just off fisher street, but there are a few side streets that connect to it. it's a great path. I use it all the time. it's the safest way to go from fullarton to king william rd, with far less side streets and driveways, I'd like to get to Glenelg via mike turtur, but I can never find it unless I use greenhill rd, which has one of the worst intersections.
Can you take bikes on trains in Adelaide?
Yes 😀 it's great! and it's free most of the time, the only time you have to pay is during peak times, then you have to buy an extra ticket for your bike 🚲
Well, I'm Dutch and I just have to laugh at this "world class" cycling route - it's a total nighmare
I agree!! 😆 I lived in Den Haag for a year and loved it!! 💖 You are far more advanced in your cycling infrastructure (and a multitude of other things!) than Australia. Australians are still very car dependent, and here in South Australia, there is a constant battle between drivers and cyclists. A lot of aggression and anger from drivers directed towards cyclists.
I made these original videos to try and encourage more people to ride their bikes here, and promote and support cycling infrastructure. I thought, if we had more people riding, we'd have a bigger voice and be able to influence better outcomes for cyclists. So, yes, I agree with you! and your wonderful country helped influence and shape my love of cycling and what future is possible for us here in South Australia, Australia, and globally! 😃
@@CyclewithSerafina Well, can give you a few more tips to promote it here. It's all about kids first and foremost, ie: would you let a 10-year-old do the route you take by him/herself. If it is not safe for children to cycle these routes by themselves, it fails all safety tests. The next problem is the helicopter parenting style which is the norm here. As kids in Holland we went everywhere on bikes, school. sport, beach etc. Everything in Holland is designed around kids when it comes to cycling infra structure
I really like that, designed for kids and with kids in mind, no wonder you are leagues ahead of us!! everything here is designed for cars and keeping the economy moving... business first, everything else comes second, family, environment, health. It's definitely not encouraged to let kids go out and play by themselves without adult supervision! I much preferred the community focused lifestyle I experienced in Europe, hopefully Australia will look, listen and learn 🚴♀️💖🚴♂️
@@CyclewithSerafina I'm not making that up about the kids, it literally is the starting point of it all. I'm rather amused by all these CZcams clips about Dutch cycling and I'm sitting here thinking - what's the big deal, it's pure common sense, even that Biris Johnson that British PM says that the UK should go Dutch, bucket loads of American and Canadians are being sent to Holland on fact-finding missions how it all works and why it is all set up like that, even today, children in the last year of primary school do a Traffic Exam on the bicycle to test them so they can comfortably and safely go to school on a bike when high school starts.
czcams.com/video/16AO0_08r3o/video.html&ab_channel=BicycleDutch
It's the funny thing about common sense, it's not all that common! I love this video, you're spot on, the Dutch are world leaders. It will be at least another 50 years before anything like that even starts to happen here! all we can do for now is encourage more people to ride... 🚴♂️
