I'm a Care Worker for very poorly people in the community. I've never done magic, so learning your self working magic tricks has been great, and the reactions I have had from those I support has been AMAZING!
Thank you so much from myself, and those I have performed these to x x x
This means everything. Thank you for using magic in such a beautiful way.
I used to work in a magic shop about 30 years ago and learned all the standard sleights and associated tricks. Over time I’ve found that I don’t really enjoy watching routines with sleights because once you know what to look for, it really spoils the effect. Lately I’ve been on a tear learning amazing ‘no sleight’ effects like this and it’s really been fun!
100% agree with you, sir. All of the tricks I do are self working, I much prefer them!
Even better are self working tricks that seem impossible even after you know how they're done. Like this one.
Reveal secrets to the entire nation. How must I survive now as a magician
I totally disagree. Tricks done with good stealth sleights are miracles. Tricks with piles and procedures are puzzles.
@@zamfearmagic Great sleight of hand is fine. I’m talking about clunky double lifts, palming, lame ways to count or display cards ala’ Elmsley or add on moves…that kind of thing.
Here’s why it works:
The easiest way to understand it is to imagine that you begin with 20 face down cards in a pile (ie none of the cards is reversed). Now proceed with the mixing:
Step 1: Count off 10 cards into a pile.
Step 2: Shuffle both piles.
Step 3: Turn either pile face up.
Step 4: Alternate the cards into one pile.
Step 5: Cut the pile as much as you like.
Situation currently is that the cards lie in pairs - EITHER a) with every pair face to face, OR b) with every pair back to back.
Step 6: Take pairs of cards one at a time from the top of the pile and place them down, either as they are or by first flipping them over. This has no resulting effect, as each pair remains as it was (ie all pairs face to face or all pairs back to back).
Step 7: Deal four hands of cards. Piles A and C will both face the same way. Piles B and D will both face the same way (but opposite to A and B).
Step 8: Put piles A and C together to make pile X.
Step 9: Put piles B and D together to make pile Y.
Situation is that all cards in pile X face one way, and all cards in pile Y face the opposite way.
Step 10: Turn over either pile X or pile Y, then put the piles together.
Situation is that all the cards now face the same way - ie we’re back where we started.
So… if we’re back where we started, then we can change our starting position to anything we like, and at the end that’s where we’ll be.
In this case, Matt starts with four face up queens, so at the end that is where he ends up - with four face up queens.
It’s a difficult-to-track procedure for forcing any number of cards from a packet of cards. Quite useful.
Thanks for such a detailed explanation!
Brilliant explanation!
@MattMcGurk could he go over that one more time , I didn't catch the first part, lol 😆 😅
I'm in my 80s and came across card magic by chance and got hooked!! I prefer selfworking tricks as my manual dexterity is too poor for many of the sleight of hand tricks. I already perform a different version of this trick.
.... But this one is better
More power to you man! That’s awesome!
Another absolutely fantastic video. More of these videos PLEASE.
I watched it to the end, then got out a deck of cards and it worked first time. Pretty good considering I did it with miniature cards from a Christmas cracker. I dropped two cards on the floor and picked them up after a shuffle, guessing which way they faced, so I got lucky there. Did it again with no errors and it worked again. Great trick. I'm seeing my grandchildren on the 21st and using their terminology, this will "fry their brains".
That's awesome!
Hey Matt,
Love the channel and thanks for performing and explaining so many strong and awesome self working card magic.
I'm learning as many as possible to perform at my marina this summer in the USA.
Keep uploading your content.
NICE. Over the last two days I've bookmarked five of your videos, including this one and now I need to get down to practicing so I can remember them. Thanks for the great channel.

I'm always looking for new effects to add my routine, this will definitely be added. I would also love to learn your "flash of the queen" move, definite attention grabber! Thank you for sharing this.
Going into the next issue of my newsletter. Thanks.
Great trick . Thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks for liking
Great effect Matt! Definitely going into my set. I have a set that is purely self-workers, strung together so they flow one into the other, and spectators love it. Thanks for sharing this!

You got it!
Many thanks for this great trick. I knew an ,,easier" version of it with less mixing, but so it is more awesome. :)
Wish you nice trip :)
Nice EDC. Great for impromptu sets of table hopping, . Close up, parlor etc.
Matt that's crazy .. i love your stuff . Im an old stage wizard from the 15th century. Im too old for jumping out of substitution trunks and girl from light illusions - so slowing down to card magic just to amaze myself nowadays. I've also worked at 3 different magic shops in the states . But i gotta say, the kiss principle when it comes to magic is the way to go . Any newbie out there just needs to learn that simplicity will amaze people more than any abracadabra story ❤️ 🎩
Superb trick and superb tutorial. Thank you so much Matt!
My pleasure!
That's crazy, dude. 👊.
Outstanding. Doing magic for about two years off and on
This is astonishing. I've gone through it three times now--it worked fine each time--and I still can't get my head around 'how'. Love the channel--I'm learning card magic for my own enjoyment and that of friends and family!
Plus, I've finally learned how to riffle-shuffle after six decades on the planet :)
Glad it helped! Yes I need to update the riffle shuffle vid, but I’m really glad you got it down 👌🏻
Good work mate keep going!
Thanks, will do!

Great trick
I loved this. An amazing trick. I'm a total beginner. I've only ever done one card trick before and I've been repeating it for years. I thought is was time for something new and this trick seems like the place to start. Thanks, Matt.
Awesome man, really glad this has inspired you. Take it slow and enjoy the journey!
I’m an amateur magic nut. Love these self working tricks and have just tried this one. The final stage I thought ‘no way is this going to work’… but it did! Amazing!!

Thank you man, and thank you for your service!

New subscriber..... love it! These bagger self working tricks are great when you need a break from "thinking/focusing" and need some audience interactive time!... Thanks for this
Thanks for the sub!
Nice rick and flourish.
Enjoyed that i really did. Great effect. 8 months into magic. Gonna try this one for sure👍
Have fun!
Wonderup effect! With the right patter, I will be using this as a Triumph effect, thanks mate 😊
Perfect!
The Card Production of the Queens is so loveley 😍👍🏽
A little tutorial on that would be great 🎉
Coming soon!
Thank you
Insane ❤
Yes, please do teach that production of the four queens. I do have Harry Lorayne's 4 volume Apocalypse. I missed that in there too. But there is so much to discover in those books.
Absolutely, what a goldmine!
Saw you on a celebrity cruise to Iceland last year and you were astounding and so engaging with the audience!
Awesome! Thanks for coming to the show. I’ll be on the Equinox all this year.
It's seriously totally INSANE
Superb, Boshki.
Thank you Boshki!
That's brilliant.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Always like some easy no set-up tricks for beginners. New sub.
Thanks for the sub!
Holy smokes. Tried it last night it didn’t work. But did it 3 times tonight and everytime. Follow the steps it works. Love this trick. Thank you
Glad it helped
No fucking way! This is incredible! I will literally do this trick for myself because there is no way I understand it. It feels so great to fool yourself! I have no idea how someone could figure this out! It’s unbelievable!
Enjoy!
Can't belive this works evry time. Can’t wait for your next show
Thanks buddy. I publish videos every weekend. Have some great stuff lined up!
wow, this is really satisfying and it did fool me
Yess, teach the 4card-production please 😊
You got it!
Like you say Matt , that’s crazy .
I’m gna play with that later . 👍
Have fun!
I like this one. A variation to this trick is with 5 black suits and 5 red suits. Using the same principle that each card originally flipped with its partners (same suit) will always end up together.
In the end, the black suits will be faced in the opposite direction of the reds!
Sounds awesome, I’ll look out for that one, sounds interesting
@@MattMcGurk The first time I was introduced to this was from a video by VSauce some years back; he was explaining the "magic of math". It's the only card trick video he's done, so it's easy to find. (Specific trick at 10:01)

By the way I love your fun good humor. It really made my day.
Thanks Sam, it’s a work in progress!

Bless you man, thanks for your kind words. Hello from the Azures! Todays port of call 👍
I doubt I can remember everything but I will try.
Yes l like the 4 card production. This is such a cool trick. I believe this was done on P&T, and Harry Lorayne did a variation of this too. 👏😊👏😊👏😊👏👍👍
He always has a version of everything in Apocalypse!
Please teach how you produce the 4 of a kind!!
My mind is well and rudely boggled
Love u lol so i tried 1 time and messed up and i realized its how you start dealing them. When you deal them you half ti start on thour left i started on myself and it seems not to work but second time i got it lol thank you.....messed up 3rd time got it on the 4th lol u have to remember to flip cards lol
You got this!
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I've been performing magic of all types for close to 30 years now (I'm 74, started performing a bit late, but have always enjoyed magic) and I love this trick. I especially like the production of the four queens at the start. It's a beautiful and very visual flourish. I'll definitely check out 'Mr. Koenigs Tapestry' as well. "Thanks, and Have a Magical Day!" P.S. I just subscribed to your channel👍😀
Thanks for the Sub! Lots more content to come
I'm newly retired and looking to have fun and learn new things. This is going to be great with the Grandchildren and and those at the club I go to. Thanks
Have fun!
TW Love this trick
OMG hi, I just watched your video and tried the trick, guess what it worked, I thought it wouldn't lol, just don't ask me to explain, I am a beginner and this is definitely the best magic tricks ever, you're the best man, thank you so much for this video, funny I'm right around the corner from you tonight I'm in fort Lauderdale, enjoy Miami wild city, but be careful
Great job! I’m on the ship now. I love Ft Lauderdale, that’s actually where I was staying.
That is insane 😂
Love to show these to my grandchildren. They think I'm a magician. Thank you.
Wonderful!
You are
Matt! Just retired and decided I needed a way to entertain 3 grandsons...I watched a few of your other card trick videos and nailed them...today I watched this one (4 Queens) and am still shaking my head...it worked the first time I tried it. Amazing....by the way...Happy Cruisin'
That is awesome! Glad you’re enjoying the content! I’m sure your grandsons will be very impressed!
What kind of black magic is this? No idea how it works but it does. Great stuff
That is a blinding self working trick, all the best from here in Yorkshire, enjoy your cruise (gonna be plenty of fangina lol).
Thanks mate!
“I guarantee you’re gonna fool yourself”. Yep I fooled myself. I followed along and did everything he did, all 4 queens were face-up along with an Ace and 8 of spades😂
Oh dear 😂
Thanks for sharing I won't sleep now
Sorry!
You probably already know this, but you can add 32 cards from the pack to the queens and the effect still works. Just my opinion, but the more cards you're 'mixing up' during the routine then the more impressive the outcome looks. 😀
Absolutely! 💯
It worked on my 3rd try... it hurt my brain. 🤯
So worth it though!
Iive been doing magic for 3 days and i cant get this to work. Is the riffle shiffle the key? I cant do that though
Stick with it! Maybe this will help Easy In the Hands Riffle Shuffle Tutorial for Beginners with Bridge Ending.

@@MattMcGurk thanks.
wtf...it's really puzzling. i did it to my self and i fooled me haha
waauuuww!
Love this! 😂
Dude I stopped playing pal world diablo 4 and world of Warcraft to learn this trick and now I'm trying it on my cousins lol
That’s perhaps the greatest compliment I’ve had! Awesome! 🤩
Please do teach that prdoction!
I shall!
Lol the double backer bit
Glad someone got it! 😂
Can you teach the production of queens
Absolutely, coming up soon!
I think you can deal or flip 4 at a time too.
I’ll try it!
I just tried this routine with the entire deck of cards. It works too. Is it better to do this with the whole deck? 🤷🏻♂️ It’s a miracle when the four queens are the only cards that appear face up in a pile of twenty cards. Maybe it’s stronger when the four queens are the only face up cards in the entire deck. I think so. A bit more work, but worth it.
It’s strong either way. Personally I feel like the pacing of the trick is better with fewer cards. It entirely subjective. If you like it better with a full deck, go for it! And great job in working it out! Love that 👍
Challenge: do the bullet flourish through the whole deck as fast as you can and call it the Magazine. Start a challenge with the community
My bullet sucks! How about top-shot?
I tried this and it seemed to not have quite the impact cos we start and end in the same place. What’s a good story to spin around this that will make this more entertaining?
Presentation wise you could go in many different directions. I’m actually planning to do a video around how to build a good presentation for magic. Up for that?
@@MattMcGurk yes please!
Before you start the trick, ask onlookers something along the lines of 'Please put your phones and cover or remove your watches as they interfere with magic. Thank you' and make sure the only timepiece visible is a clock in full view, which you put back five minutes before you start the trick. Nobody will notice. Before the final reveal how about' 'Some of you are not following this are you? Luckily I can time travel. Let's go back 5 minutes and start again.' Now expose the deck, and ask them what the time is on their phones. 'I told you they interfere with magic, look at the time on the clock.' Not that sophisticated but grandkids will fall for it, as well as a few adults.
So I've been doing magic for 50 years as a hobby and the trick my friends like the most is the one where I disappear.
Ah bless ya! I’m sure that’s not the case! 😂
Awesome! Absolutely love these kinds of tricks when I have no idea of how they work; and this is the very best of them! Here is a link to another version czcams.com/video/KwQLDWhga3o/video.htmlsi=wNOskuaeynMDvo6n
Thanks for sharing, I’ll take a look
Yeaaaah I can’t get this one to function at all 😂😂
Stick with it, you got this!
I did this over and over, watched you do it in slow motion! HELP! I can’t get it to work? Don’t know what I’m doing wrong! Love the trick! I don’t know how you can answer me to help me.😔
Hey, there will be one part of it that you’ll be doing differently that’s effecting the outcome. Just go through very slowly step by step. I guarantee you’ll have an AH HA! Moment. Don’t assume anything and start a fresh. You may be repeating a wrong move because you’ve done it so much now. Take a break and come back to it. It usually works best to approach it this way. Let me know how you get on!
i also got confused at first BUT the key part is when you split the pack in 2x10 cards : you need to deal 10 but keep the2nd pack intact
pls detail more?
last statement is vague to me.
i have only days left on this planet, paralyzed all to hell and would be nice to mindfuk my evil leftoid murderous captors.
