Meeting at a Coffee Shop
The coffee shop smelled good.
I went to my favorite corner and sat down.
I opened my book to read.
I love this coffee shop.
It is warm and cozy.
It is a good place to read.
I opened my book, but I could not focus.
I wanted something new.
I wanted something different.
Then I saw him.
He was sitting at the table next to me.
He had a notebook and many colored pencils.
He was drawing.
His picture was beautiful.
It was full of bright colors and interesting shapes.
I watched him draw for a few minutes.
Then, I spoke.
"Hello," I said.
"I like your picture."
He looked up at me and smiled.
"Thank you," he said.
"My name is Ben."
"I'm Alice," I said.
We started to talk.
We talked about art, books, and music.
Ben was funny and interesting.
I liked him very much.
Ben told me that he wanted to be an artist.
He wanted to make people happy with his pictures.
I told him that I wanted to be a writer.
I wanted to tell stories that would make people think and feel.
We talked for a long time.
I forgot all about my book.
I was too busy talking to Ben.
When it was time to go, I felt sad.
I did not want to leave Ben.
He was so nice and interesting.
"It was nice to meet you, Alice," Ben said.
"Maybe we can meet again sometime?"
"I would like that," I said.
I left the coffee shop feeling happy.
I had met a new friend.
And, I had a new idea.
I wanted to write a story about Ben.
I wanted to tell everyone about his beautiful art.
I took out my notebook and started to write.
The words came easily.
I felt happy and excited.
I could not wait to see Ben again.
And, I could not wait to finish my story.
