RECIPES:
Carrots and parsnips: You’ll need - carrots, parsnips, butter, honey
- Cut into your preferred size, I like to half both length ways and the cut into fairly thick batons
- Put in salted boiling water, bring to boil and boil for 6 minutes
- Drain, leave to steam dry for a few minutes
- Lay in a single layer on a baking tray to dry and cool completely
- Put in the freezer for a couple of hours, then take them back out and put them in freezer bags (they will last up to 3 months)
- On the day, no need to defrost, preheat oven to 200, but some butter and a good few plugs of honey onto a large baking tray and pop in the oven for 5 minutes
- Tip the frozen veg in the tray and baste in the honey and butter, season and roast for 30 minutes
Pigs and blankets: You’ll need - Chipolata Sausages and streaky bacon
- Wrap each chipolata in a rasher of bacon
- In a dish, Lay them side by side in a single layer, and for a second layer, place greaseproof paper in between each layer.
- Make sure the container is airtight. The sausages can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Roast potatoes: We use Maris Piper potatoes, plain flour and vegetable oil
- Peel and cut potatoes to desired size
- Place in salted boiling water, boil for 8 minutes
- Drain and toss in the pot or colander to rough up the the sides
- Add flour, shake, season and shake again. Pour over oil or fat and toss to coat
- Place on a tray/trays lined with parchment paper and allow to cool completely before placing in the freezer
- Once frozen, then transfer to freezer bags.
- On the day, heat oven at 180, pop a roasting tray in the oven with enough oil to cover the bottom or your chosen fat
- After 5-10 minutes carefully add your frozen potatoes, covering each one in the boiling oil/fat
- Roast at 180 for 25 mins, then turn the potatoes, and roast at 200 for 40 minutes
Brussels and bacon: Idea from deliciousan...
You’ll need Lardons, Brussel sprouts and butter
- trim your sprouts and peel the outer later
- slice each sprout into 2 or 3 slices
- heat oil in a frying pan, once hot add the lardons and fry until light brown
- add the Brussels, stir and cook until softened (around 5 minutes)
- add some butter, stir to allow to melt and take off the heat
- allow to cool completely and then place a freezer container

I'm so impressed that you make everything from scratch! Aunt Bessie's is my good friend! 😂 Lol... I also need an extra freezer! 😍
Can’t beat Aunt Bessies. 😀
I only cook for 4 people so It doesn't take me long on the day but one thing I do is not peel the carrots of parsnips. Parsnips go really crunchy when you roast them with the skin on x
This is a really lovely video too share for Christmas dinner.👍🎄
Love to see your traditional dinner!
On some video soon, can you go over good cleaning habits? The time off of school for the kids plus New Years resolutions has me thinking about what cleaning habits we could do better on. For instance, shower door cleaning- do you squeegee it after every shower???
Great video ❤would save so much time on the big day xx
Amazing dinner! And I love that dress on you! So festive!
Well how good is that
Brilliant organisation emily
Hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas 🎄 x
Brilliant ❤ You spoil us with your beautiful, relevant, kind, and helpful content. Your channel is a gem. Thank you a million times 🤩 Lots of love as always from the US
Everything looks so delicious and also so quick and easy to prepare. I have to say this was also so nostalgic to watch, like seeing Mom in the kitchen getting ready for a big holiday dinner party though with considerably less cursing, lol. Love that you prepare everything with a smile, though you do make it look easy and fun! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you all the Happiest of New Years.
Love parsnips x and sprouts ❤
This has come at the best time thank you!
Happy holidays!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!! So excited to see your Christmas vlog xx
Wow, thank you, I will definitely meal prep now!
Fantastic video! Just the motivation I needed!
Everything looks delicious! I can’t wait to try some of your recipes for Christmas dinner. When you have time or get a chance, would you do a video showing your favorite heavy hors d’oeuvres, and how to make them? We call them party food, and sometimes serve them on a random Saturday night just for fun! Thank you so much! Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family!

I made the Brussels dish early to freeze as I have lots coming over. OMG I can’t believe how nice it tasted, as someone who doesn’t really like sprouts !. Can’t wait to warm them up on the day ❤

Soooo helpful. I’m not hosting this year but thanks for making it so doable I can totally see myself coming back to this for help in the future, as someone a few years younger you are such an internet big sister in so many kind and helpful ways!! Neatly summarised in your book it feels! Thanks so much 😊
Hello Emily and family merry Christmas to you all hope that you have a wonderful day
Best video ever
Hi Emily hope your well, brilliant video as always 👏 well I wasn't wrong about tonight's content 😂 I love your content keep it coming, I especially enjoyed the part when you were prepping the parsnips and told us you didn't like them because they tasted like perfume to you it reminded me of the video you posted of when was weaning Jack's and said "do you like eating perfume" 😅 i really do love my favourite youtuber ❤xxx again keep the amazing work coming ❤️
I wish I had the freezer space to do this. Good idea!
So nice to see the ideas for prep and freeze! I never would have thought to do the potatoes this way. Is the flour to help make the roasted potatoes crispy?
Hi Emily! Where did you get your large cast iron pot in video please? 😍😍
Merry Christmas
Hi Emily, please can you do a winter morning and night routine.Would love to see that
My 3yo son runs over concerned at 1.40 and askes ‘mama where’s Jackson and Caleb?!’ 😂
Excellent ideas for the busy day. Do you put the potatoes straight in the oven from the freezer? Are the potatoes still crispy? Xx
That beige pot, is that the everything pot from “Our Place” ? I have one in blue!
Wow, great vlog could I ask why you put plain flour over the potatoes?
Do you cover any of the trays before putting them in the freezer or just as they are?
Can you tell what would I do if I prep the carrots and parsnips Xmas eve ? Would I leave them to cool and put them in fridge till the next day or ?? Thank you
Agree, parsnips is def a marmite food, though i love marmite.
You are bloomin super woman!🙏x
Wonderful. Our menus are similar. I hadn’t thought of freezing the broccoli Or stuffing. Do you stick the stuffing in at 350 and bake from frozen? I love the idea of individual servings
Yes cook from frozen 😅 xx
Thanks for sharing your ideas! Great time to share. Do you defrost your potatoes overnight??
No you can cook from frozen, heat the oil or fat for 5 mins in the oven and then pour in the potatoes and baste in the hot oil/fat xx
Emily is perfection 😍
❤❤
Does the cauliflower cheese freeze ok as the recipe link says don’t freeze it?
Just seen this too and have mine in the freezer 😢 hope it’s going to be ok. Also not sure if it needs defrosting or cooked from frozen now 😔
Hey Emily I have a doubt would the food lose its nutritional value or not be healthy compared to freshly made food because meal preparing maybe one day or two before I guess is fine but won't doing it's soo early be a problem like to our health. Just clarifying
But does it taste the same or does it taste like heated up food?
It tastes amazing! Xx
