Why Dino was supposed to die instead of Que in Transformers 3. 1 of the highested grossing movies of 2011 and the highest grossing Transformers film. Dark of the Moon was undoubtedly a huge game changer for the franchise. It introduced the fandom to awesome characters who made major contributions to the Autobots. 1 of which was Que who was the Autobot scientist and inventer. He was definitely someone who made an impact. Unfortunately he died as soon as he was introduced to Transformers cinematic universe. Being mercilessly shot down after begging for his life. And apparently he wasn't supposed to die in the original script. Numerous adaptations of Dark of the Moon illustrated that during the Autobot capture in Chicago, it was Dino/Mirage who was executed by Soundwave. However this was changed in the movie to Que/Wheeljack being killed instead while Dino/Mirage survived the battle. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

Q's death makes more sense as seeing an old scientist robot dying would probably be more sad and engaging that seeing Dino die.

Fun Fact: Que was supposed to be shot off the bridge after Dino's execution in the comic adaptation. In the film, a different individual (presumably a Decepticon) was shot off the bridge instead.

The basic me loves Prime, the Kid who grew up with the TF series loves Bee, the adult in me loves Ratchet, The gunsmith in me loves Ironhyde, and then the demon in me loves Megatron
I mean bumblebee has the best design by far; because of how slick and functional the overall look is the next design i like is the Lambo in last knight but it kinda was unfair cause it was similar to bee's design
Mirage was suppose to be cooking with bee in the 4th film, playing the spy, but his voice actor died of cancer, and they didn't replace him.

It baffles me that people say Micheal bay writes the films but they are wrong because he only directs them and a hand of other writers write these films.the writers choose which character should be killed off.
He killed off Ironhide due to budget reasons so it’s mainly to save mo way to introduce new characters.
Edit: Optimus was brought back in ROTF, because Hasbro doesn’t want another incident that is the 1986 movie, where he was killed off for the rest of the movie and someone replaced him.

AoE is the top grossing. If you look at it, each did better than the previous (even RoTF) until TLK. It's amazing we even got Dino with how Ferrari was. At this point it's probably not silly to assume a good portion of the budget for the movie was to pay Ferrari to use a car. In turn Ferrari had all these terms.

I just kinda assumed it was the former but you bringing up RotB made me realize they probably (somehow) thought the studio knew that Mirage was gonna be in a movie that hadn't even hit production at the time since I'm pretty sure Rise, Bumblebee and the upcoming TF One all entered production around the release of either Age of Extinction or Last Knight.
Both of them were supposed to die originally. Because in the novel que gets separated from the other autobots during shockwaves attack, and later got killed by some decepticon protoforms

This is what I don't like about the Micheal Bay versions and many producers do the same. They want to play the end all and be all of a generation long story that is beyond them.

Dino was like a red version of bee. He wasn't exactly very big but like bumblebee he was very strong skilled and fast. Its sad ironhide was executed he was such a brilliant warrior

Naw I think it's cause Que was a more sympathetic character. They could make him look all sad and pitiful. So narratively it would be more impactful. As well ad hid visual design being more "sad" looking. So audiences would connect more.
In the novel they both die. If I remember correctly Wheeljack (Que) fell into the river and was killed by Decepticons that were lurking in it, and Mirage (Dino) was jumped by Starscream from behind/above and had his head ripped off

I heard Que was supposed to die a different way. From what it seems, he survived the "POW execution" scene and would somehow end up driving into an ambush in a later scene, then become overwhelmed by the Decepticons that proceeded to surround him.

My fan cannon that it's because the old draft of movie was leaked and so Bay changed both the ending and also shoehorned completely new character Que, just for him to die.
Because Wheeljack was a sort of engineer, they quickly decided to make him look like Einstein. And also because he appears almost completely out of nowhere in the battle of Chicago.

Because they could. They wanted to call him Mirage in Dark of the Moon but couldn't. In order to use the Ferrari for his vehicle mode the Ferrari company made Paramount rename him Dino. The name of Enzo Ferrari's son.

Que (Wheeljack) died because of bad reception to his design. One of the WORST Wheeljack designs I've seen. This isn't the acrual reason though, just what I think.

Mandates. Mirage was called Dino because that was the only way Paramount would be allowed to use the Ferrari. Wheeljack was called Que because Steven Spielberg wanted him to be based after the character Que from the James Bond movies.
