Everybody is dealt a hand of cards at the start of their life. Some hands are better than others, but even a good hand can be played poorly.
Very well said
I give u a hendjob
Should human life be treated as a mere card game? I think we are lost as a species if we end up accepting that.
I wish more money would be allocated towards creating more rehabilitation programs versus simply locking people up, especially addicts struggling daily with the "disease"of addiction! I know here in the US, they label addiction as a disease, yet it is not treated that way. I am an RN and I know any other disease, such as diabetes, would be treated with medication/counseling/education, etc. There are programs to help people get their meds and reatment for their diabetes, for example. Yet, addicts are still constantly discriminated against, and I see it first hand from doctors, nurses, medical staff in general. It is a systemic problem that needs to be addressed ASAP! I know I went into healthcare to HELP people, not to judge them or treat them differently depending on what kind of diagnosis or disease they have. I hope this changes. Until then, the numbers of new addicts, overdoses, crimes related to this disease will just continue rising...it really breaks my heart...
that's a great way of puting that.. I concur
As an ex prostitute and drug addict with 3&1/2 years clean and off the streets, I am finally in a place where I want to give back to women still out there. I hope I can work with women who were where I was. Thanks for this video.

That guy needs to stop saying "This is so disgusting" and stuff like "I need to disinfect my shoes" in front of the other person who is going through this in his real life. The other person kept on saying that this is reality but he still kept saying "this is disgusting". If he is not ready to interview under such circumstances, he need to get out.
I understand what your saying, but it's not up to us what other people say or do, this too is reality. we cannot go around sanitizing everything people say, its just words. it's OK, we all have this amazing thing in life, it's called Free Will and Freedom of Speech, take these away and what were left with is a dictatorship.. it's a fine line but once you take freedom away you will never get it back. so keep this in mind. life is not perfect.
@@SuperMatt2112 yeah but he is not just any person. You must be PROFESSIONAL. If you become a reporter, you won't expect them to send you to interview the rich and nice places. That's the problem there, if you are not ready and PROFESSIONAL enough to do your job, then consider another career where you don't have to do that.
Same , i find it rude , un understanding and very unempathetically unprofessional
@@theholeintheground503 please keep in mind he's not a professional, he is just his friend. Yes it was rude and insensitive but I doubt he was saying that to hurt his mate but just expressing what he was feeling. He obviously cares since he said he has to do something to help him.
Context and intention is everything.
This has to be terrifying! Not knowing what kind of person will pick you up. I can't even imagine having to survive like this.

My son 27 yrs old has been so difficult to deal with ,gave me so much trouble ,I,almost had a nervous break down ,my husband asked me to throw him out ,even called police over to our place once ,but I never deserted him ,stood by him, gave him warm bed and excellent home made food ,finally ,he is doing better ,loves me to death and earning well in share market ,moral of the story is ,parents should never give up on kids .,no matter what,
@Robert Freisler There is something about our Indian culture ,what I did with my son ,so many other Women also do the same in our society ,in a lot of cases ,boys /sons give a lot of headache to their parents ,Robert ,I grew up watching so many families going through so much trouble and hardships to see their kids /families intact ,or I would say together that when I was faced with the same situation ,I also showed the same patience and courage to get my son reformed and mend his ways.

These support workers are what life is really about! Imagine having a reminder that there are still good people out there, in the midst of the darkness......💕
It’s one thing for grown adults to be in this type of environment but the saddest or most tragic is when kids have to do this whether by force or by choice their needs to be more help for all of them
Heartbreaking
Lets hope children in this country don't go out on the streets without being picked up by the cops and supported.

Everytime that insensitive freak says "this is absolutely disgusting" with a wicked fake smile, Colin says "this is reality" in deep pain. If you are so disgusted and insensitive by someone else's painful story, why are you even featuring on the video?
Agree he was fccking annoying
@@alliswellnow62622 Cuz it was disgusting and it could be a wake up call. Hats off to the friend for the support...even if it came off as a little insensative...the support we get ain't always gonna be perfect, but it's still support at the end of the day.
I think the guy didn't know how to process it himself.. he was just shocked.. but it was a bit silly when he said "I like the view"..😅
@Lano Del Rey yes exactly. i totally agree with u! u know sometimes these people who work as prostitutes be it man or woman they do not have a good qualification for them to get a job that they want. for example if that person comes from a poor background the family cannot afford to send them to college or university so their qualification level is very LOW so this is the reason why they cannot get a proper decent job that they dream of. So they got no other choice but to be a prostitute
Ikr. So insensitive.
All these young people, all over the world, who don't have any sense of direction, and alot of times, have grown up with backward parents, end up in poverty, and end up with terrible lives It's sad! We only have so many options in life. Education is extremely important. Poverty breeds more poverty..
Those three women are absolutely incredible. Even after being attacked with a meat cleaver, she still came back, risking her life again to do a job no one wants to do, with no recognition for it. Commendable indeed.
It's just heartbreaking to watch these people's stories
Brandon is so cute. You can tell that he does care about his friend, and his well-being. I hope that they are both doing well!
Sonia is so brave and honest and real. People who are strong and able to change their lives are admirable. This lady took the help and helped herself. You rock, Sonia.
Praying for all these wonderful people who are addicted to evil drugs..
Praise God.. Amen
This makes my heart ache for people who just have had the worst hand dealt in life. Such a mash of childhood, choices, disease, and no real long term help for most. I wish there was more that could be done.
This is snowflake compared to what we have to deal with in my 3rd world
The sad thing is, if formal support systems weren’t so tied up in bureaucracy, didn’t focus so much on deficits and shred self-worth, more could be done.
There could be more help if people would give a damn...but everybody runs home after work to watch netflix and chill...whats preventing people from volunteering for these poor souls?

I’ saying this with honesty and not from a place of being a jerk. Don’t you think that went both ways? Did you ever see them as more than a way to earn their money?
@@ctarr1973 I thought about your question for a while , thinking back to that time . I definitely saw the humanity in my clients, I did keep a bit of a emotional distance because it’s important to remain professional and I wouldn’t want them getting confused that there was more of a relationship . I definitely treated everyone I met as a person and sometimes hearing their problems made me feel sad and I’d even do a little prayer for them on the way home , some of the clients would come in because they’re lonely and I wished I’d met them not in that setting to have a chat with them ( once you’ve met in that setting people don’t see you in another way so you couldn’t then meet them outside ) . I’m not saying men are the problem actually because I felt most dehumanised by women , absolutely hated female clients coming in , after a while I avoided them because without being sexist they genuinely did all act the same 🤷♀️
I have faith in all these people. That they can change. God Bless them all
i did this when i was 19. you never get over it, u have some ok nights but the bad ones are so unlivable sometimes. i have chronic pain so greenery helped me with my pain. my family cut me off as my dads an alcoholic and my aunts hates him. so for food and things to help the pain(i already had stong ones but the stopped working) i did this. i struggled so much, i was picking cig buds off the street. getting infections from it, eventually i got away from that. i feel so much for these people. your just stuck with no past or future, wouldnt u do drugs too to avoid this( iv not done anything serious).
The stories highlighted here are told from a UK perspective, but sadly they are universal across the world. And no where is that more true than here in the United States. I applaud their bravery and courage to share their experiences. I wish them all the best.
Those three women selflessly helping others on the streets...bless them, their names will be recorded in heaven not only with their good deeds, but the domino effect we unfortunately cannot see yet. Trust me. This is much bigger than even they will ever imagine.
Such beautiful and wonderful ladies giving out help without any judgment
Colin is really likeable. I hope that he can get help for his alcoholism and be able to lead a successful life
They never do.. Alcoholism is the worst
Collin's friend is enabling his addiction by meeting him at a pub and drinking with him. If he wants to actually help then drinking with him is not the solution
@ Megan I agree that he is probably not doing him any favors but I was a heavy drinker for years yet I'm fortunate enough that being around addicts doesn't tempt me in the least
You clearly haven’t had a loved one or close friend stuck in addiction. Sometimes meeting them here is the only way you have to keep an eye on them
It’s easy to be judgmental but as the lady at the end said, often we lose our way a bit. If most people are honest, we all lose our way a bit at some point in our lives.
It really is easy to be judgmental . I think that applies very well to all humans and history. We talk without knowing the truth simplify in order to make a picture in our mind that agrees with our seflish point of view. We need to remember we are not the only ones in this world.

People who have been fortunate to grow up in a stable, secure, caring environment with access to education and support can’t imagine how horrific some of these kids lives have been. The emotional damage from years of neglect and abuse can cause irreparable harm to their psyche that can be difficult to repair. It’s a vicious cycle of despair and hopelessness compounded by poor life choices. Addiction is a scourge.

And watch the rape rate drop.
Decriminalize*
The reoccurring theme to this in many cases is the net result of bad personal choices. (Addictions of some sort) (Risky behavior/drug usage the inability to make responsible decisions for life management) and yes I've been homeless due to economic issues. Many people are just incapable of making good life decisions.
You are incredibly ignorant. Addiction isnt a choice. Its behaviour without choice. Many have been raped as kids and the emotional pain is so deep that drugs and alchohol are the only things that numbs the pain. If people could stop an addiction on their own, then it wouldnt be an addiction. No before you go on about me making an excuse, its still their responsability to ask for help and accept professional help. But judging the victim of rape and sexual abuse and saying nothing about the abusers or how these people came to become addicts is incredibly short sighted.
Yeah but where do they come from.? When i was 15 i wanted to hurt myself because i believed i was worthless. Lol
" bad choices" sounds simple.

all of these women are so brave. the outreach workers are so good too.xx
I went from being homeless, to prostitution to journalism. The worst part came later when one of my old arrests wound up on Google. Decriminalizing prostitution would remove the stigma, but legalizing it creates a police state stigma that also follows around women who no longer want to be labeled as hookers.
U cant change the cards u dealt with but u can change how u play them

I do.. much love and acceptance to us all. Colin I think you art Devine , no matter where you are.. or what your have ever been labelled as..
This headline is deceiving. They do not have terrible lives because of poverty. They have poverty because they chose a drug addiction and alcohol addiction.
@Christine Gainer Almost always. It is condescending to treat them as helpless and hopeless victims. It is also a tactic socialist governments use to control the population.
Also, I am in favor of helping drug/alcohol addicts paid for by the state to a certain extent. However, they will never be empowered if they are constantly told they are victims and entitled to what others have earned with hard work.
Many of these people have experienced terrible childhoods of abuse or neglect, lack sufficient education and skills to find gainful employment and live in an environment that makes it extremely challenging to break out of. Most don’t make a deliberate “choice” to become a drug addict but fall into it due to a variety of poor life choices, a dearth of healthy relationships they can depend on for support. If you grow up in an environment where there is a lot of poverty and addiction then it’s difficult to learn how to improve their circumstances.

My friends started doing drugs in high school. Thank god I didn't fall into that trap. Though all of those friends have left the addiction ans fine now but things could have gone wrong.
First of all, that “friend”, at the start, wasn’t much of a friend, he showed no compassion at all. I feel so sorry for these precious people, who’s just trying to survive…
So very proud of those who support addicts . . .
