- To my dearest brother. Oh he who heads Southward to a place more barbaric than hell. A place where even the devil himself soils his undergarments at the mere thought. God walks with you through the Hatch of Parris Island Brother Royku, and forever and always...

The U.S.Marines don't get the credit they deserve America best 💯 🇺🇸 👍
Outstanding! Been 58 years since I ran to such cadence. Still brings back memories of the Sunday afternoon "recreational" platoon runs, enveloped in a cloud of dust we raised. Best physical condition of my whole life.
Semper Fi, Leathernecks.

i served in the early 50s and i still get the chills listening to this . The Marine Corps memories never leave anyone who served .in this outstanding outfit. Semper FI forever
MCRD San Diego 1956-57..you? SF..
It definitely gives you chills, makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and a true feeling of pride doesn’t it. It is hard to believe how much Boot Camp and the Corp has changed over the years. Now they are once again reducing the size of our beloved Corp. I even read in one news item that the Sec of Defense wanted to eliminate the Corp completely. That would be a very sad day for America!

I am a 1980s marine lot better than 2023
not very Marine Corps of ya. Think you should read some Chesty quotes about Marine breeds.@@user-wt1es7du5w
Lunzie, I agree with you. The Old Corps was completely gotten rid of by 1975. I was Old Corps of the Vietnam Era ! Your husband went in one year before the infamous Tet Offensive, a real nightmare for all branches and where Marines shined despite their dificulties. I salute you for what all you went through while he was absent. The Corps has gone straight downhill after Nam. I would not share the same foxhole with a modern Marine any day of the week. God bless you ma'am, I pray your husband survived and came back home !
Thank you! As a baby, my dad, an old leather-neck, used to put me to sleep by running with me in his arms and calling Marine Corps cadence, taught me all the nursery rhymes Marine Corps cadence style, and taught me math Marine Corps cadence style. This will always sound like security to me.
O... O.. O...HEY HEY HEY!...

Once a Marine. ALWAYS a Marine.
Was? ALWAYS. But I understand.
My grandfather was a marine stationed in Japan he got dishonorable discharge after 2 years. My dad became a army officer since he felt like since his father had bad conduct in the USMC but before he wanted to get some exercise so he became a merchant marine and when he was 18 he enlisted in the army when he was a specialist he was sent to Iraq served 2 phases in Iraq and 5 more deployments. When he was 22 he became a lieutenant then he was sent to Poland and when he was a first lieutenant he was sent to 4 more countries. One war zone others are normal deployments. Dear john: bull shit .the marine corps would not allow five combat tours in vietnam. The marines MIGHT allow two combat tours. After two tours you would be a jelly donut and need someone to talk too. Stop trying to impress your grand children and chicks at a bar. Semper fi. 1963.
Thank you sir

I was an 0331 with Weapons Plt, Echo 2/5 from early '77 to late '78. Who were you with?
I was drafted into the Marine Corps in December 1969. Fortunately, I never heard anything about Marine Corps boot camp. After I was drafted at AFEES in Chicago, I flew to San Diego. The next day they shoved an enlistment in front of me for two years and said the Marines do not draft. I made it through just like everyone else. I am very proud of becoming a Marine.
USMC Dec 1969-Sep1971
I enlisted in the Marines when they still had the draft. One of my buddies at my permanent duty station was drafted. When the draftees in his group were gathered together selections were made as to which draftees went into the Marines by lining them up and every tenth one was to be sent to the Marines. He did a quick count and saw he was going to be selected so he quickly switched places with the guy next to him. When it came for the Marine draftees to step forward one of the guys in charge looked at the guy my buddy switched with and said, "You look too small to go into the Marines," and then he selected my buddy instead to replace him. Boy was he pissed.
A buddy of mine in the Marine Corps then a Master Sergeant always joked with me reminding me he was drafted in the Marines.@@keithpopko2540
