This is what flawless looks like! Vidit Gujrathi vs Mastrovasilis | Commentary by Sagar

  • Both the players were playing high quality chess. It seemed like a complete deadlock between them. 2 Classical games ended in draws, 2 rapid games of 25+10 ended in draws, two rapid games of 10+10 ended in draws and so there we were after 6 games - both Vidit Gujrathi and Dmitrios Mastrovasilis stood at 3-3. But then came this critical decisive game and one of the players played flawless chess. Who was he and how did it pan out. Check out the video along with the commentary of IM Sagar Shah.

    Great commentary by Sagar!! Even a low rated player such as myself can understand the positions with his explanations.

    Players coming from countries like Greece that have no chess culture at all like India for example, this strong holding against a super GM like Vidit was an amazing achievement. And don't forget players like Mastrovasilis travel and participate covering all expenses themselves. Well done Dimitris.

      @indianfan1029 Před 5 měsíci

      Well played. But its actually easier for Europeans. They can easily cover all the tournaments, most of them in central Europe, they can even travel by road or train. While we Indians have to fly to and fro. From india to europe. Its not cheap at all

    • @agelosmata
      @agelosmata Před 5 měsíci

      @@indianfan1029 Super GMs usually have sponsors who cover all expenses. In addition, they receive prize money for placing on the board or fees just for participating. In Greece FIDE tournaments with prize money are non-existent and for the most "unknown" GMs, chess is not their main job. They cover the expenses alone along with what this entails (preparations, coaches, travel expenses, accommodation expenses, absent from their main job without being paid for the days they are absent, etc.). The only thing they gain is experience and the joy of opportunity to combet against the big names.

    Vidit needs to take some risk and initiative like gukesh to win games instead of drawing them otherwise he will be faded in these young pool of talented youngsters.

      12:10 if you're talking about this than it's called backrank mate where a king has no place to move or no pieces which can guard him from check and his own pawns/pieces are blocking his way out resulting in King getting checkmated
