  • Arjun Erigaisi played with the black pieces against Vladimir Fedoseev in their second game of the third round of the FIDE World Cup 2023. The first game had ended in a draw. Knowing what a strong player Fedoseev is it would be quite prudent to assume that the match would go into the tiebreaks if Arjun played carefully with the black pieces. However, there were a lot of twists on the way and in this video IM Sagar Shah brings you the entire essence of the instructive endgame.

Indians are brilliant in science and maths. It's no surprise that they would excel in chess.

I have seen everyone is of this impression about us. But that's hardly true. From 1.4 billion population pool naturally emerge more intelligent people than others.

I get what you are saying, but here in South Africa the Indian community are the minority. Yet the percentage of doctors, scientists etc are much higher than the other race groups.

That's true. I can say based on my travel experience of 20 countries and staying abroad for a decade. That given a chance, bit of nutritious food, basic education and little training, Indians can excel unlike any other countries. Indians do not need too much resources and they can still excel. I believe in that.

Blunder ? No ! It was like an Amateur player simply giving away a piece out of ignorance even when there was no time preassure. A piece
hanging out was quiet easily visible and also no chance for any passer getting Queened even if it was considered as a piece sacrifice for
    pawn promotion.
