I am full on obsessed with this song. The whole deep meaning about how online hate has corrupted anger we need to change the world is a concept I think about almost daily. Why aren’t we having this bigger conversation more? This song is a damn masterpiece and the beats.. the flows.. everything is so good. It’s funny sometimes I see antis saying BTS is old or has lost their edge uh hello these 3 geniuses only get better more intense as they go. Also the fact they are just disgusted that yes they can handle the hate but the hate drove other kpop stars to take their lives at least one of whom was a close friend of the younger members you can feel their disgust. Also live… with the boxing ring UGh so good.. I am as obsessed as Taehyung and JK with this song (they are infamously obsessed with it).
and this was without any live audience..imagine this with live audience…all of these performances in this online concert deserved a live audience..im glad they were able to perform Black Swan and ON.

@@JohnReavesLive not any that I can think of at the top of my head, but there is one song by the rappers that you haven’t reacted to yet called “Her” which is an underrated rap song from them that most people don’t know about. It’s not as hype as it takes on a calmer tone but it is still effective in depth as their other songs.
Also RM and Suga have a song called “Respect” that is a different sound from them that you may haven’t heard before
Ddaeng and UGH have a totally different energy from BTS Cyphers. The Cyphers are diss-tracks full of anger and self-assertion, motivated by resentment and desire to prove themselves. Ddaeng and UGH are super satirical. They're over the hurt, over the hate they received, focusing on doing criticising hateful behaviors from a more social perspective, and using playfulness and sarcasm. MIC Drop is like the bridge between the Chyphers and these new style of BTS Rap line songs.

I agree with the metal part, that's why I really love the live performances more because it's more powerful and energetic. And going back to metal part, I've always thought even on their early days Suga is like a metal rapper for me😂
Seriously they brought this hyped energy to an online concert (in the first year of pandemic) with no real in life audience to give energy feedback (i mean millions were watching online but not same thing for performers as you know)... I'm amazed they can give live concert energy even for an online concert. Speaks volumes for their dedication to armys & their top tier professionalism.

Ugh was on Map of the Soul 7 (released early 2020). An iconic album where unfortunately the majority of songs were never performed live in front of fans due to the pandemic.
I think you’ve watched other performances from the On:E concert. This was one of their online concerts where they performed some of the MOTS7 songs for the first (and only) time. You can hear an “audience” in parts but it’s not real. It’s just fake cheers that were added in for morale basically.

If I remember correctly, Park was impeached because of the Sewol incident and the information found connecting Park and some other government people to it.
I still remember watching this online concert live with my daughters & when we saw its the supreme rapline going to perform UGH! ALL OF US SCREAMED!! We were so dam excited & this was during the pandemic so it was a huge surprise & amazing² performance.

100% agree this is the most metal, I freakin love it. It's got similar vibes (the live show) to my first ever gig, Rage against the Machine back in 1995 Brixton Academy, London. I LOVE that BTS are bringing back that energy of using youthful energy and rage for positive change. I'm 42 now and I still believe in this. 💜 And yes I think of ddaeng and mic drop as in this family too with the cyphers🤘

This song is in my top5 BTS songs and I am not a rap fan...or I wasn´t one before I found these guys. Yoongi speaks to my soul, but this live goes to Hobi 100%, he is lethal in this. And they are all hot so that is an added bonus 😍

bts album was released in feb 2020 and the iu and suga collab was released in may of the same year so naturally many connected the two songs as they have similar meanings. he goes deeper into the subject he mentioned at 18:37 i highly recommend reacting to it as its a important topic and issue. also trigger warning for this song/explanation.

Absolutely love this song and this live performance! They are all amazing but there is just something extra extra that starts the moment Jhope walks out! And yes, I totally agree, I love the agression in this performance. But I also feel like it was exactly what this type of performance needed in order to take it up even higher,... that agression, that swag! I literally love this song so much! The rap line really knows how to hype people up with these songs that have deep meanings.
This song came out in the MOTS: 7 album, which had the tour planned but then canceled because of covid. So unfortunately there’s no live version with a crowd for this song. The live show you saw was for the MOTS ON:E online concert so army was only able to watch online. But this song live with a crowd would be so hype, I can just imagine it so vividly. I hope they perform this song in front of army one day!
Also in English we pronounce the letter U like “you” but in Korean the U (ㅜ) sounds similar to “ooh” so it’s nice to note that difference.

One of our favorites!! The studio version is super interesting, amazing arrangements but when they do it live, man it is magic.
They did that Live with no audience fall of 2020. That was supposed to be for the Map of the Soul 7 tour. It’s awesome that they pulled it off but I know they really wanted it to be live in front of an audience.
For me too, It was the rap line that got me into BTS, and then later I started to appreciate the vocal line.... but a lot a lot later.
It’s from there 2020 Map of the soul 7 album , the concert is one of there online ones because of Covid.

I half agree with you on the ending on Cypher 4. I feel like RM and J-Hope definitely ended it with verses about loving themselves and about how haters should worry about loving their own selves....but then Suga came in like "And that was cute but still yall can still go f*ck yourselves. Here's my verse with a step by step guide on how to do so. You're welcomed." Lol it always cracks me up hearing RM and Hope trying to at least kinda be the bigger person and Suga steamrolled over the song in all of his underground hip hop glory to drag everybody for filth. I love our rap line.
I think Ugh is a lot less brutal lyrically and it's almost imploring haters to be better with how they direct their anger and hate so to me it's more of a Ddaeng 2 than a Cypher 5. Ddaeng had a similar lighter approach to Ugh. If I were to compare the lyrical feel, Ddaeng and Ugh feel like a backhanded-slap in a public restaurant while the Cyphers are getting shanked and shivved in the prison cafeteria.

just in case you're curious, in reference to their president's impeachment, i'm not sure what other smaller things would gave happened to fuel's the nation's rage further but the biggest and probably most immediate preceded offense of hers was how she had dealt with the infamous sewol ferry accident. when everything was taking place, no one could get in touch with her for ages and when they finally had, the danger levels for the students onboard had already risen significantly still with no assistance to anyone inside, and yet her focus was to send camera's to the site to document everything unfolding over demanding that emergency services be sent out (even then when japanese and us coast guards offered their assistance and insisted that they'd be on standby ready at any moment's notice to blast into action, they brushed off their offers while still doing nothing themselves because they were waiting on cameras and wanted the glory of saving the students for themselves, this however i can't remember if it was her order or that of the coast guards themselves, she was but a mere contributor to the mass incompetence displayed on this day at the expense if hundreds of lives) the most she'd done for the incident was go out to sea to see how the scene was looking after the ferry had already completely capsized

Before getting into BTS I never listened to or appreciated rap, but was always an admirer of clever lyrics. Now I love BTS rap as the lyrics are genius and so deep. Thanks for doing these reactions and showing your appreciation of BTS' artistry. I love your philosophical take on life. I think the footage of the protests when the president was impeached was to do with the Sewol ferry disaster and her part in the corruption and cover-up.💜
Just to coment about the President Park Geun-hye. She was the first woman elected as president in Sout Korea (actually, the first woman president popularly elected in east asia). She is the daugther of President Park Chung-hee. He served as President form 63 to 79 (yes, it was a coup d'etat).She served from 2013 to 2017. Her impeachment was because of corruption and abuse of power and was sentenced to 24 years in prision. Last year tho she received a Presidential Pardon from President Moon, and left prision in December.
I actually enjoyed to read every sinlge thing about this, because her impeachment was less than 1 year after the 1st woman president in my country also had be impeachmented.

Ugh, I wish we could change this old rule because it really puts the fire in this old lady’s snoot but not from being selfish. But because they give so much already how much more service do you need?

15:14 FYI it is no longer *the last* president because South Korea had an election and a new president this year.
The new president Yoon Suk-yeol (May 10th 2022- ) he is conservative in a already conservative country and is really bad for any form of equality (gender/lgbtq+/ethnicity). You can read up on him, he is not liked by ARMY or any sane person.
So now the last president is president Moon Jae-in (2017-May 2022). You have seen BTS with him they went with to Unicef and met to get awarded etc.
The one impeached that they call "the last president" in the DKDKTV explanation of UGH! her name is Park Geun-hye (2013-2017) and the impeachment happened in 2016/17.
