Cata was a great expansion, marred only by how long Dragon Soul was expected to last as current content. That’s not a problem in a classic environment. Shit will slap.
Cata was dogshit bro.....people have some SERIOUS copium rose tinted glasses on these days. The only part of Cata that was even remotely good was how hard the dungeons were before they nerfed them. Rest was complete ass.

If you hate Cata then you hate WotLK even more.
I'd say that Cata had two more issues:
1. It had 1 fewer raid tiers, it was the first 3 raid tier expansion.
2. There was no proper equivalent for WotLK's 10 Man Raid difficulty(Easy). LFR was NOT it.
Otherwise Cata is a much better WotLK in every other way.

It is. The whole point of a beta is that it gets regularly updated and tested. Why would they make their own special build version with bugs "fixed" and not test it...

@@MetaGoblin 99% is obviously hyperbole but regardless of what happened in wrath the beta we have right now is probably many many versions behind. Cata will launch just fine, yes there will be bugs like there was in wrath or literally any version of wow that has ever launched from classic to retail but I'd prefer people hold off on spreading doom and gloom until after it launches. But hey, its your channel and your videos I can just give my opinion, you do you.

Vash'jir was broken on retail in mid Legion and stayed that way for years. The Whitemane private server is still patching in the leveling zones because they're so broken. I don't think it's the fault of the devs, I think the code for the cata client is just borked.
Literally only people who can play the game with unlimited time hated incursions. For those of us who have outside requirements and limited time to play, the crazy exp was super fun
well of course thats the reason retail wow became the dogwater that it is today because blizzard catering to players with that exact "i dont have enough time i have a life" i got two kids wife a full time job and i still play the game just fine and at a pretty decent level doing high end raiding an such. If you're struggling to have enough time to play dont ruin the game for the people that do thats the charm to the game. If you want quick instant access and instant phone game dopamine go play retail there nothing wrong with that.

Get some perspective. Cata launches in 1 month, with pre-patch coming in 12 days. Everyone is concerned about tiny tiny things like a single quest not working properly, or hair looking weird. Blizzard wont fix these tiny details until all major content has been launched and tested for critical gameplay issues. And why would they? They would end up fixing tiny details, just to break them again with major content pushes! Once all major content are out for testing and there are no critical gameplay issues left, then you'll see the tiny details get fixed. They have plenty of time.

I remember a specific gold glitch that came out when beta was released, gonna test it out when pre patch goes live, back when this actually came out I was able to generate 50m, it was so free, told a few people then it got patched, PRAYING no one speaks up about this, ifykyk, it’s in stormwind ;)

I hate present day Blizz and I agree with everything you point out about how shitty they are, HOWEVER.... myself and like 80% of people who played from 2005 - 2012-ish all loved Cata. WOTLK was way too easy and we were all begging for challenging content which we got with the new pre-raid dungeons that were actually challenging and REQUIRED CC again. The 1-60 remaster was a GODSEND and the new zones all slapped. Either I exist in a very unique echo-chamber or @MetaGoblin is painting a narrative for w/e reason.

Cata will have a totally different audience a mix of classic players returning players and way more retail players than usual. Just look at the comments on this video so much hatred towards cata.

@@MetaGoblin In this case I do have to give right. Cata is for most players not even the slidest interesting. WOTLK and BC are so nostalgia stars thats why they were receive that good. But for Cata sorry Cata ruined a lot in WoW and for a lot of player. In my experience it was the first time to lose people I played with because they stopped playing... and I assume a lot of player got this feeling the first time in Cata. In general Cata is not really interesting IMO... and even the always taken point of "dungeons were so difficult and you needed CC and bla bla bla"... bet all my gold when Cata comes out and receive a healthy amount of coverage on youtube you will see shit ton of vids and guides and it will be mathematically solved as BC and WOTLK was. And sorry but if you want difficulty then retail gives you the best with M+ because it is "infinitely" scaling up.
Cata has good points. Old world revamp is awesome because the zones feel organise and the beginning was really cool to play back then. But else? Not really much that is really interesting... Sorry but the dungeons back then are for today standard just crap.
A lot of people quit when Cata was originally released including me, all I can say is give it a chance it's way better now that I've played through vanilla twice and don't care what happens to the old world anymore.
The main reason I originally quit was destruction of the old world I loved, revamping all classes (didn't want to relearn how to play my characters) but the biggest reason I was just burnt out.
I didn't come back to wow until 2019....Gve it a chance go in with no expectations and I think you will have a good time, so much more to do and all classes I've tried play way better.

I totally agree. Cataclysm and MOP and are my two most favourite expansions. I started playing WOW during Cata. Cataclysm gets so much unnecessary hate.

I just want to wait and see. WOTLK was going to be my final expansion before quitting the game, but somethings convinced my to try Cata. If there are to many bugs, i think i will retake my single player games.
I mean i like cata cause that's when i originally started playing. Hated mist because of how it simplified talents to pick between these 3. MoP was when wow started simplifying everything then the realized they goofed by getting rid of talents and started forcing in temporary power like the artifact weapons, heart of azeroth, and covenants only to realize in dragonflight to partially revert back to talents. I kinda want them to go back to how it was in classic when you could use all the skills without having to choose a specialization, you had freedom with your builds.
But yeah, hopefully optimistic about cataclysm

I get the impression the devs are severely understaffed, no guild chat for 3 weeks now and they keep breaking things they already fixed like pet bars.
Would make sense since when Microsoft got full acquisition of Blizzard in late 2023 and the old CEO left a lot of employees got mass fired and people in leading positions as well, it'll take a long while until the company stabilises again

I am really curious what's going on behind the scenes at blizzard. You basically have a hostile take over buyout of the company and i wonder if there is massive pressure, real or imagined, on staff to put stuff out or fear loosing their jobs. It is fairly easy with modern tools to replace one game dev with another, especially low level workers that work on things like bugs or design leads that are easily interchangeable. Microsoft could even sell off all their properties in CA for alot of money and buy a large swath of land in TX (like Elon did) to build a new MS gaming headquarters. I am not trying to make excuses for the bugs or development problems but i am curious what is going on behind the scenes.
Have you heard anything about how bots have been affected by the new 30day restrictions on new accounts? It feels like I see massively less bots in the world now.

Cataclysm Classic doesn't make sense to me cuz it's all still playable on retail. Like the reason we went back to Vanilla was cuz we wanted to play the old world wasn't it? Why would we need Cataclysm Classic when the sundering and all the quests are still there on retail??

It's mind boggling how wow has fostered such a high propensity of man children. I play a lot of different games and no community cries more or complains about what other people do with their time more than wow players. They are easily the most miserable community I've ever seen by proportion. Every video, no matter the version of wow, people are crying, insulting each other for liking retail, liking vanilla, liking plunderstorm, liking Cata. @@GWW7734 Correction, we have vanilla era servers. We lost TBC and will lose wrath once cata is live. If they locked us into 2-4 era specific servers instead of forcing us to continue on this "classic" version of the game I think people would be less salty. Just like how I feel the game didn't need worgens/goblins/pandas.....there are people who think dranei and blood elves were missteps too.
By this logic, you can still "play" TBC and WotLK on retail as well.

Don't know about SOD, the ammount of unbalance in pvp which majority sack off bgs now especially if your alliance and fact it's just 1 raid a week, alot of guildies have sacked the game off now as your just jumping around If nowadays, shame they nurfed the raid so much, lost all its fun.

Blizzards subscriptions have dropped a ton since the annoucement of an early cata release.
I don't think they will go further than cata Classic. The Mop remix is probably how they will proceed and use those remixes as a new way to level for retail kinda like a new timewalking (legion remix anyone?) Classic continue being innovated on in seasons until they can create classic plus which incorporates all the good ideas from the seasons in a fresh launch possibly with a price tag or free who knows.
MoP is basically confirmed friend. And no, MoP remix is nothing close to a rerelease "classic".

Ive played this game since 2004 and Blizzard has ALWAYS taken performance very seriously. Sure in alpha and beta there are always bugs but thats why alpha and beta exists - so that when it goes live those bugs are fixed.

Played every WoW beta since 2004, and this is by FAR the worst. It's not beta, its a broken alpha. Its so broke we can't test anything. Example : dual spec talents, switch from one to the other and you LOSE spells. eg Holy Shock, Avengers shield. So now my char is ruined and oh, copy character is disabled in the latest patch. LFG is broken (was working better the last patch). Dungeons are ridiculously easy. You can do Stonecore without a healer! Except the last boss is bugged and will 1 shot the tank. Oh and you cant die in a dungeon and re-enter, you have to take res sickness and wait 10 minutes and enter alive. Most people just leave the group after they wipe, but you need a macro to leave the group! People who don't know the macro will just exit the game and delete their chars. It's an absolute mess and hitting live servers in ..10 days?! LOL
oh I dont think the PTR servers represent what real cata launch will be after all blizzard has never really cared about fixing PTR ever in the past bugs in the cata ptr are most likely just because blizzard copy pasted the original cata they had and didnt upload the one they had been working on in other words before any of these bugs were discovered blizzard probably already fixed them on the devs version and are using cata ptr to just make sure they didnt miss any obvious bugs.

I'm still confused why they are even bothering to release Cata when SoD is apparently doing so well and WotLK players have either moved onto SoD or stopped playing, except for weekly raids. Again, you could probably get a better sense of the Classic era server situation based on info about where players are buying gold from your gold seller contacts. Anyway, the point is that there isn't enough time in the day to juggle multiple WoW expansions, just like playing WoW makes it more difficult to play other games.
Releasing Cata probably means they'll just have a disastrous launch and nobody will be playing other than those obsessed by world firsts and they'll all be done within the first month. Everyone will still be on SoD unless SoD at end-game turns out to be a disappointment due to the raids just being what everyone has played to death and isn't interested in doing for the umpteenth time again?!

I’m going to play. I’m actually playing the beta now. I can attest that things are not ready yet. You can’t even get out of dungeon/groups without typing in script amongst other things. Hopefully they fix all the problems before they release (hopium)

Classic is over. Era is dead, progression is at Cataclysm, and their “experimental” servers are basically just Retail locked to Vanilla content. We can all go back to private servers now. It’s ok.
