Oh yes try to braid it from thinner strands, and braid it pretty loose, so it can puff up into expected shape, it needs a skill and you are making progress mastering it...
I'm not sure if I am really good at cooking. sometimes I make it nice sometimes I don't 😂😂

Hi Kim, thanks for another one... Brilliant effort, and great result. Do not worry one bit by the shape. As long as it tasted good and made you guys happy, it was the very best one you possibly could have. We used to put in also raisins or sultanas, but lately one can see also almonds, dehydeated or even jellied fruit( I am screamish about the last ones) And how to introduce those on the other side of world to vianocka? Head to the shop and look for Hard Dough Bread. Different shape of loaf, but texture and taste pretty similar. Thanks once again and wishing you fun and joy on your "Slovak adbentures" 😉

@@ChasingKimberly chipsy sme vo friteze skusali, je to dobre, cerstve, zemiakove, ale neoplati sa to robit, lebo vo vysledku mas velmi malo chipsov z toho kolko si tam dal zemiakov, strasne to straca na vahe :)
Hi Kim. So I see you got on harvesting strawberries, love it and it's perfect time. Since my diet don't allow me eat lot of fruits strawberry are one which I can so yea, here on Long Island season already gone for them but we have from California or Florida year round. It's great you made the jam home made is best👍.
About Vianocka since is the 1st time you doing dough it was done good, you learning so final product was tasty that what matter look was bit different but that don't matter, taste is important and more you going to make better will be. Some bakers perfecting recipes for years so don't get discouraged.
Dough you made should be bit thinker I guess next time use less milk. Braiding 5-6 strands is traditional but that you can see on YT also, will take little practice. It came bit dark that's because once Vianocka is braided you let her raise again for 30-40min brush with yolk mixed with milk or cream and you let it dry never bake Vianocka with fresh egg brush.
So good luck with your next baking but leave it for colder weather now it's too hot to run around the owen 😁.
You can make strawberry knedeln for you guys , that's good for Dano since he's vegetarian.
Anyway going to finish I'm writing too much already.

Kim keď váľaš jednotlivé šúľance na vianočku neboj sa použiť múku miesto oleja nebude sa ti to tak lepiť a z toho množstva cesta by si dokázala urobiť dve až tri. Tie šúľance musia byť tenšie. Inak za odvahu a za to že si to robila prvý krát palec hore ako vždy.

Size doesn't matter :D The bigger vianočka, the better flavor. If you don't see the whole vianočka and you only serve the slices, nobody knows anything. And the strawberry jam is the best, it's my favorite kind of jam!

Super, ze si sa pustila do vianocky. Kysnute cesto je tak trochu veda. Treba odhadnut kolko by malo kysnut. Inak kysne v zime a inak, ked je teplo. Asi bolo velmi teplo, ked si ju robila. Prekysla. Stacilo kratsiu dobu alebo dat cesto kysnut do chladnicky. Dolezite je aj spracovanie cesta, ako sa premiesi.

Hi Kim, good job! It seems like the amout of ingredients is for 2 pcs of Vianočka. The dough is more liquid than should be (depends on used flour and its water absorption). Next time try to add more flour - the dough should not be "sticky", thats more important than amount in the recipe. Then Vianočka will keep THE shape also after baking :)
I love to add sliced walnuts inside, or to sprinkle with sliced almonds. And the most important thing. Vianočka ONLY with KAKAO drink :D

The problem is that you used oil when braided vianočka. The dough merged together. Try to use a flour on your hands when braiding instead of an oil

your vianocka is great.fluffy, crust really like homemade vianocka. devide dough to 2 smaller vianockas instead of 1 large, adjust time for rise the dough for less, after shaping due to this hi temp. weather , you be happy about shape. wooden skewers also helps. Čaute

You should try wild strawberries directly from forrest. They are small but far more tasty.
I'm afraid to pick them because I'm not sure what they look like. some berries are not eatable they said 😂
They are sour. And as a matter of fact they belongs to forest animals.

Are you preparing for year lasting Covid lockdown with so many strawberries and giant vianočka? But one never knows and better be prepared 😀. Maybe it doesnt look like Vianočka, but i am sure it tastes better than buyed from shop 😉♥️

"Vianočka" Should have 3 layers. First with 4 strands, secont with 3 strands, and the top with 2 strands. There are some symbolic reasons for it, but since this is not christmas, anything will do. We also make "mazanec", which is the same dough, but just a big bun made of it. No strands. BTW my dough is much heavier (more butter), and I work it hard after raising, to push most of the air out. Vianočka is then not so fluffy, which I like. But then, it is just one of possible recipes, do what suits you best.

@@ChasingKimberly I can assure you that every family has different Vianočka. I can give you my recipe, but it is far from being the only one possible. Danko's relatives surely have some good and tested recipes too.
@@ChasingKimberly Tiez si myslim ze cesto si mala dobre aj vahy, len si to mala zapletat na viac poschodi a nie len na jedno, preto si ju mala taku veliku co do plochy, nabuduce vyskusas. Opakovanie roby majstra, jak tu volakto podotkol. ;-)

I don´t think vianočka should by so fluffy. Light yes, but not fluffy. You need also more flour and divide dough to more parts (narrow and long) and put them in floors.
