- Hello Everyone! Finally after so many months of staying at home because of the Pandemic and just working on our house and garden, we finally hit the rod!
Our first destination is Cicmany! I can't believe how beautiful this village is!

you should visit Vlkolinec one time..... beautiful village, protected by Unesco
definitely worth visiting but i must say i prefer cicmany over vlkolinec. cicmany is more authentic to me. in vlkolinec all houses were private with big cars next to them and a satelite plate on the roof 😔 maybe only one house wasnopen for visits

Hi! I recommend to visit Vlkolínec. It is also a beautiful village. I live in Ružomberok, which is not far from Vlkolínec, so I visit Vlkolínec very often. Vlkolínec has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, and is one of ten Slovak villages that have been given the status of a folk architecture reservations. This status was granted because the village is an untouched and complex example of folk countryside architecture of the region of the Northern Carpathians.

Hi Kimberly. So I see you got your travel supplies and hit the road to start exploring.
Chichmany is very unique village in Slovakia, I love painted houses there.
I'm originally from Northern Slovakia, we had old wooden houses but they painted them with one color only.
When you have chance you can visit Vlkolinec near Ruzomberok it's traditional northern Slovakia village also if you like to see more you can guys visit skanzem in Pribilina it's museum of Slovak village also in Zuberec in Orava, but that you can see with Oravsky podzamok.
About kroj: as you know Slavakia have many different traditional clothing styles, depend on region and part. In old times used to be ULUV who made and preserve old traditional clothing, they had head office in Bratislava and store on Obchodna ulica in Bratislava. I don't know if they still exist. You also can ask at Matica Slovenska in Martin, they will have information for you there. You also can contact somebody from Lucnica there for sure will know who can make traditional clothing.
So these are few advices for you, hope you will have luck.
BTW you will be look awesome in Myjava folk clothing, since you near by.

When you come out with video I watch it twice to see what missed this one struck an emotional cord with me. 1) Village announcement,the last one one heard when mom passed on. 2) Kroj is. Hard to get, I asked, asked but nothing. If you find a place please say where you got it because I’m trying to get a Janosik outfit for my grandson in N. Y. That’s impossible. 3) Parts of Zilina are in foothills of the Tatras, our planting season starts 2 or 3 weeks later than in Bratislava. Thank you.

v Čičmanoch som bola pred 40 rokmi na lyžiarskom zo ZŠ. Pre nás, deti z BA, boli zážitkom záchody vonku(latríny), hlavne v tej zime 😄 raz sme sa vybrali na prechádzku, obzerať tie pekné domčeky a keď sa zotmelo, stratili sme sa a brodili sa v metrovom snehu😄😄 ale bolo tam aj vtedy krásne, asi pôjdem znova. Ďakujem za pripomenutie tých zážitkov P.S. lyžovať som sa tam nenaučila 😄

I love your videos. But can I give a an objective criticism? Can you try to play with a sound a little bit when you're editing the videos please? Because the music is loud and when you start to speak I can barelly hear you. Need to adjust my volume everytime :D But otherwise, love your videos and content.

It looks very nice, some of houses are like old houses in my village, but we dont have that white ornaments :-) Horalky + Slovakia cips :-D And that worker at 2:06 :-D moving soil in a wheelbarow in a tractor :-D very effective

súhlas, Vlkolínec je podľa mňa lepší ako Čičmany. Hlavne tá príroda okolo je fascinujúca. Vlkolínske lúky sú asi najkrajšie na svete.

vlkolinec je krasne miesto + aj historia tohto miesta je velmi zaujimava.
@@medvedilesnyduch síce som z východu Slovenska ale Vlkolínec a okolie si nosím tak trošku so sebou stále. Je to pre mňa čarovný kraj s neuveriteľne príjemnými ľuďmi a vždy keď možem stále sa tam vraciam. Neviem spočítať koľko krát som tam bol, ale rovnako neviem odhadnúť koľko krát sa tam ešte vyberiem. A to hovorím z pozície človeka, ktorý precestoval kus sveta, ale Vlkolínec a Vlkolínske lúky sú pre mňa hneď po mojej rodnej obci najkrajšie miesto na svete. Majú svoje neopakovateľné čaro. Ja som človek neposedný, ale tam dokážem sedieť v tráve a oddychovať, relaxovať, užívať si vetrík, šum lístia, lúče slnka atď. Keď som spoznal svoju ženu a navrhla výlet, čo myslíš, kde som ju vzal ako na úplne prvé miesto? Správne, Vlkolínske lúky.

Určite by si si mala spraviť výlet aj do Banskej Štiavnice. Patrí to k najkrajším mestám na Slovensku a samotné mesto má veľa múzeí, historických budov, a pôvodnej architektúry nakoľko sa tam ťažilo zlato a striebro k čomu sú priradené aj legendy. V okolí sú aj tajchy takže rozhodne neoľutuješ.
Určite navštívim už to mám na liste 😉.

Kroj.sk looks like a good site for kroje i think but the long boots are quite expensive but there are Also shoes called krpce/kapce that are lese expensive

Ahoj, čo sa týka krojov najskôr sa treba rozhodnúť z ktorej oblasti, dediny by si chcela, podľa toho by som ti vedela poradiť. Ale ako sa nižšie píše, treba popozerať na Facebooku-krojový bazár, a iné.
