What should I speed paint next? Let me know!
Tempestus Scions could be interesting.
I'd like to see some blood bowl teams
Skaven would be nice

Do crimson slaughter and other traitors
Word Bearers have the best storyline. They are central to everything in 40K.
I thought that 'The First Heretic' did the Word Bearers a great deal of justice. You can really empathise with them and understand why they turned to Chaos.
Erebus are guy
@@thecalvatron1955 To be frank they honestly came across as whiny brats who rebelled simply because they couldn't have their way yeah ok the emperor was a stubborn old boomer who probably should have spent a couple years de-indoctrinating Logar or at the very least played into Logar's zealotry.
@@michaelkean5969Three years late, but the UMs literally burned their holy city to the ground and made them kneel in the ashes. I think they deserve to be called more than whiny brats lol
Yas! Speed painting pals ;)
czcams.com/video/DIsADBWhveA/video.html 😜
In all seriousness though, I love your videos. Drop me a message some time :D
Crossover episode when???
So cool! I want to do a Chaos Space Marine army. I wondered what they'd look like with green flames and now that I've seen it, I'm completely sold!
Best explanation and execution of speed painting I've seen yet - truly fast and simple. Too many end up trying to be more than strictly servicable, which is all that's needed. Definitely want to see more like it. Genestealer Cult maybe? Lots of different style miniatures.
I just got that start collecting box and was searching for a method for painting them in another scheme than black legion...
and BOI ! was i amazed. The word bearers scheme was already tempting, especially for the master of possession, but i wasn't expecting it to look THAT good.
Also, i really liked the clever use of hexwraith flame for the eyes/plasma effect, not limited at the flames.
I actually used most of this video to paint Blood Angels, as I'm not a huge fan of their saturated and bright red colour. Thanks for the tips, it was super helpful!
Great tip about keeping the brush damp when dry brushing to avoid the chalky look. I've not seen that mentioned before, will try this on my next project.
It's something I stumbled upon myself after cleaning a brush and not fully drying it again before I used it. Some people refer to it as 'wet brushing'
@@PeteTheWargamer While watching that part of your video, I said out loud, "that's wet brushing". It's good to see techniques like this shown and explained well.
11 hours in total??! Holy shit, that's amazing. I envy you. Well done man!
Omg thank you for the close-up vid of what your a talking about when you thin your paints. So much easier to see what you're talking about.
You're welcome :D
Thank you! I've been looking for simple and nice way of painting word bearers and you help me with that
I'm glad my videos been useful to you :D
Just awesome. Great video, I definitely love it. Thumbs up ! 👍🏻
Great tutorial! You give a lot of good and helpful information. Thanks for sharing this.
Love this! Would love to see more color schemes receive this treatment! Night Lords or Alpha Legion maybe!
Thanks for the suggestion! For Alpha legion just paint them as Word Bearers and say that they're under cover 😂
Lol! For a blue, or really any other scheme though, would you still start with the brown drybrush?
@@DeepWoodMegaFauna probably not for everything. I think I would go straight into the blue for cooler overall colours like your blues and greens. But for warmer schemes like the reds and yellows id use the brown base
Start off dry brushing with a purple instead of brown. Then pick your blue, but do a second much lighter layer with a turquoise or green, but beyond that pretty much just follow this video. @@DeepWoodMegaFauna
Nice video and nice looking models I'll definitely try some of your suggestions when i get to the point of painting my models
Simple but effective! Really nice result mate that sorcerer looks amazing
Thanks! He's my favourite out of the bunch
That’s bloody epic. Great work mate
Cheers!
I love the effect this gives - looks especially good on the venomcrawler
Thanks!
@@PeteTheWargamer how many layers of the khorne red did you use until it was opaque enough to be satisfactory? I tried this last night on a practice model just for fun and it didnt quite come out looking like this.
Do you leave your drybrush a little more damp then usual on that step?
Looking good! Not looking to speed paint them, but I think I'm going to grab this boxed set to paint them as Word Bearers. They look great in that scheme!
Praise Lorgar!
Now that is a sweet chaos marine army I'd love to own!
Great tutorial! More speed painting would be great!
Great tips and superb tutorial!
Awesome vid, and they look fantastic!
That Necron compound came out hella sick looking, hot damn
I love this colour scheme
Very helpful video, thanks!
great!, very helpful video I hope there will be more of them
just phenomenal i might be able to even try this! :P
Great tips and video 😁👍🏻
Hi there I like both the new speed painting you have done and I will be using a very similar scheme myself to do my Alpha Legion and Word Bearers kill team's so I wonderd if you could do a black legion speed painting scheme for the next one please thanks in advance paul
Just had a go at this yesterday and watching it back again, I find my drybrushing of Khorne Red is a much brighter red to yours. Yours looks an amazing almost purple colour. Could it be too heavy a drybrush of Khorne Red? Not enough Rhinox Brown perhaps?
Id like to see how you speed paint black legion. I have trouble making black have some depth.
11 hours, yet so clean...
Now this is paint slapping
Since you now shown us how to paint an amazing colour scheme, could you go back to you primaris conversions and show us how to make a unique word bearer but using the new chaos models as a base
Hi im gonna be starting a word bearers army in 40k I would like a more you can do to them love the video by the way
This is simply amazing. Sadly, I've already started painting the miniatures in my 30k -Legion Style
Had I not done that, then this tutorial would have saved me soo much time.
It's OK, just buy another Shadowspear 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer Oh that's the plan, don't get me wrong!
But changing schemes mid-army isn't my thing.
Anyways, I'll be sure to watch out for more of your videos!
I also prefer to add airbrushed highlights of a lighter color (gray or white) to the top of the model after the base coat of black. I think this speeds up the painting process. I use gray or white depending upon how bright I want the final contrast to be. Used sparingly and from the top to no more than a 45°angle, this will leave the lower areas in black primer to look like shadows, yet make the upper areas easier to highlight quickly. Since not everyone has an airbrush, the same technique can be done with a brush and "wet brushing" in only one direction down from the top of the model. It really helps make a unit "pop" on the table without adding much time to the painting.
Please do a video on painting Night Lords with Vallejo paints!
Is Zandri Dust supposed to have a green tint? Because I'm looking at your video and I swear I'm seeing a green tint. This concerns me because I just painted a reaper mini in Zandri Dust and it came out brownish yellow.
If I wasn't going for speed, would an effective technique be to start with a base of Rhinox Hide, wash with Nuln Oil then drybrush on Rhinox hide again?
Nice video. I liked the red transitions to shadow a lot. Although I will be painting my models Black Legion I certainly think I will try this style of painting.
Really nice flames on the Master Of Possession.
A.
Thanks! The flames were my favorite part
Pete The Wargamer I will certainly try some ethereal flames like this. You have done him well.
awesome vid! when putting the hex flame over averland sunset i'm getting a really nasty effect, not the awesome green you are achieving, any tips? Thanks!
That was amazing! I can't do one squad in 11 hours let alone half of a boxed set!
Normally I'm the exact same. I really had to push myself to speed things up a bit.
Finally getting round to use this paint scheme on my shadowspear set. I doubt I'll get anywhere near as good as this but hey. Don't suppose you have more pictures of these models on any of your social media?
Very nice and easy. Palette
great work!
Great tutorial :)
World eaters please?
Can I ask on such a old video what red would you use to layer over Khorne Red for a slightly more detailed red?
Looks very good Pete. I'm unsure what legion to paint mine I want Abbadon though
Yeh and I reckon he will be black legion specific in some of his abilities. You can always run counts as black legion for rules and go with whatever scheme you like!
Is there an alternative to ratskin flesh or a way to make something similar?
I would love to see this for GSC acolytes
Love it!
Reviving a really old video but do you know if they changed the word bearer paint recipe. Mine looks no where that deep and bright
It’s awesome!!
Do some Drukhari please can't find any speed paint video for them anywhere...it's horrible haha love your videos doh 😁
I would love it for you to do one on Blood Angels
Prime Mephiston Red, done. 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer xD
Can you do one for Vior La Tau? Been trying to look for a good painter that can show how to speed paint, and your speed paint tutorials are the best I've found so far.
I've got some Tau gathering dust in the attic, maybe a speed painting will release them from their captivity 😂
@@PeteTheWargamer Mine are in a box in my garage and I honestly don't want to leave 50+ firewarriors and a crisis suit team unpainted.😂
Been a year since I've stopped since I can't find a reliable speed painting tutorial for Vior La.
That red is perfect...
Maybe try the death guard army from the starter set?!? They are easy assemble also 😇😇
Awesome as per pal!
Thanks!
The necron compound dry brush for trim? Do you water it down a little?? I never thought of trying that.
Does it speed up painting trim? Because I hate painting trim. I always spill over at the very edges
Nope, I used in straight from the pot pretty much although my brush will have been slightly damp
Recommendations for the brushes for dry brushing
Make up brushes
Awesome guide as always! Couple of questions do you dry brush the silver trim too or just paint as normal? And what brushes do you use? My Windsor and Newton is old and I can't afford another one lol
Drybrush, and please don't use your Windsor and Newton for metallics or drybrushing! 😋
Brilliant!
Thanks!
What other colours did you use on the robes, as you only mentioned the zandri dust?
Just Zandri Dust. As he's the leader I spent a little more time on them though. I'd apply a few layers on the thinned paint so that it would be darker in the recesses and lighter at the raised edges
Are you layering the Khorne Red over the whole panel, or just the parts where light catches? hard to tell.
While I'm not specifically going for where the light hits, as I'm using a downward brush strokes this would create that sort of effect.
That's awfully bright for it just being hexwraith flame over averland sunset...
You sure you didn't use tessaract glow?
Also, what inkwash did you use, and what did you inkwash?
Hey, awesome vid, i adore the green effect, can you drop some advice on how apply this technique for World Eaters scheme?
Hmmm, you could swap out khorne red for Mephiston Red and hit the armour trim with some balthasar gold instead. That should give you a good start
@@PeteTheWargamer Thanks, much appreciated :)
Love these. Do some for Genestealer Cults. :D
Why does your zandri dust look green?
Hi, I was wondering if you did just one coat for the layer paints and the dry brushing or did you have to build up the layers to get the finish that you did? Thanks!
For the Master of Possession I needed 2 coats of the Zandri dust to get the solid colour, the same with the flesh on the obliterators. But pretty much everywhere else was one coat
@@PeteTheWargamer thanks a lot and thanks for the swift reply. I'm using the same method you used here for getting my Stormcast Eternals done and I'm very happy with the results so far, so thanks 😁
How / what paints were used for the basing, really works well to offset the red colour scheme
I added some Vallejo Earth Texture, washed with Agrax Earthshade and then dryrbrushed with some karak stone.
@@PeteTheWargamer which earth texture? There are different types
Do you have any tutorials for Horus heresy world eaters? I love their horus heresy colors and am going to be working on adding world eaters to my chaos army in the next couple days :D
Here you go! Not a speed painting guide but it should point you in the right direction czcams.com/video/Dg2mNjuLyqw/video.html
@@PeteTheWargamer OMG thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for! :D
How could you do that awesome plasma effect but in red?
Averland sunset base and carroburg? Doesn’t seem to work the same in my mind
Bloodletter might be a better option, as it's a bright red glaze rather than a purple/pink wash. It should give you a similar effect to the Hex Wraith flame over Averland Sunset if you applied a couple of layers, allowing it to dry between application.
That sounds doable
Thanks Pete!
I would love to your emperor's children paint scheme...
Tutorial for nightlords please
can you show us crimson slaughter ??????
Wow!
Night Lords please in a deep dark blue
Did you do any washes at all or was that literally every step just sped up?
No washes, the drybrushing over black largely eliminates the need. The steps you see in this tutorial are the only ones applied to miniature, except the basing.
@@PeteTheWargamer how did you do the basing and did you dry brush the venom crawler ?
Goodt chob !!
please do: Speed paint orks.
It's actually a question I get asked alot. How to dry brush properly... And it's harder than one might think
It's a pro tip from you Pete about keeping some moisture in your brush
I like the chaos marines because they hurt to hold.
Speed paint thousand sons!
It seems like a whole different chapter xD
You changed your channel name - it threw me off :) My first thought was "when did I sub to this guy?" Great vid as always Pete.
Gotta keep everyone guessing 😋
How about emperor's children ?
My Red looks different from yours I think I did something wrong hmmm
Hi
Moar ples!
to simple for my taste but good guide for beginners
That's precisely the target. Beginners and people who are just looking for something simple to add to their models rather than just having bare grey plastic.
World eaters
The only thing that’s missing is the writing
Yo dude great to see you changed your thumb nails, only problem is your still naming your video's wrong
You use redundant words like "HOW TO" and WARHAMMER and Tutorial...
"Speed paint tutorial: 40k World Bearers Sorcerer" ( How to videos are tutorials. )
And your paintings on point like always great video.
Unfortunately the magical mystery box that is CZcamss search algorithm seems to like redundant keywords in your titles :(
Would look even better with a wash.
word bearers = lif
