The Irish Wolfhound is the reason there are no wolves in Eire. Cu Chulainn, or the Hound of Ulster, the Irish Hercules, got his name as the result of slaying the hounds belonging to a chieftain who had set his dogs out to guard his rath (fort) at night. The hounds were so highly valued that Cu Chulainn guarded the chieftain's rath for a year as recompense. Congratulations, they're a wonderful breed and I've always wanted a pair myself!
The perfect match... a beautiful dog joins a beautiful family. Stay safe and be well.
You are so kind
We may have to quit trying to weigh her at this point LOL. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you'd like to see more Rigby videos in the future. Have a great day everyone!
Congratulations and yes, would love to see more Rigby videos!
Would love to see more videos of this beautiful puppy

Thank you!
Hi Julie!!
A word from a fellow dog lover on the opposite side of the planet!
I will have an Irish Wolfhound puppy in September, so I guess you understand I didn´t stumble by your channel by accident..
I´m reluctant to share my experiences despite having four decades of working with dogs, but I will urge you all to ignore this if you don´t feel it rings true and don´t cock your guns...
Irish Wolfohounds are in my opinion one of the easiest breeds to work with. They are not very protective and and wil normally not seek attention from strangers. I have never met a genuine aggressive Irish Wolfhound, but I have seen them aggressive from fear when feeling cornered.
In my opinion the two two behaviour issues you should shoud address are excitement and pray drive. With an 80kg body and a 1m tail they will inflict damage to grand children, coffee cups and plants if they are allowed to be excited inside the house.
They are hunters, so they should be thougt that all small animals should mean "ignore" or " relax"
On the food side of things I am equally opinionated.. (sorry) They should eat as much fatty raw meat as you can afford. More importantly are the fish proteins. Cod fish proteins are extremely important for their joints and muscles and fatty fish equally for their brain.
I live in a small community where everybody knew my preivious Irish Wolfhound and they all loved him! From kids to older ladies who used to hold their small dogs over their head when we met.
Peace and love, and feel free to contact me with questions about this breed!!
Cheers!
This story just made me so happy! You did every thing in order unlike myself. I have 14 grandchildren under 7 and I love dogs and against my Sainte wife's advice I bought a Golden doodle an 2 yellow lab pups . After three vets visits and training I am tired!Should have listened to my wife however the children love them and our yard is filled with kids and dogs . It's a beautiful thing to watch and was worth it all. But you accomplished it the correct and grand way (12 day of Christmas etc.). Hope you find the same JOY w/your children and your new Large addition!
Awwwww..... I bet there are many smiles in your home :)
Irish Wolfhounds are my favorite dog breed. Here's hoping that yours has an usually long lifespan. And I can definitely relate to going stir crazy during this quarantine. It must be especially hard for your daughters. I can't imagine being stuck in quarantine for over a year when I was that age.
A little bit of happy goes a long way for sure.
I love my wolfhound Hash Brown! She is super old for a wolfhound. Great dogs!
Awwwwwww. Hash Brown --- LOVE IT!
She is a beauty! Good luck and keep us updated. A true member of the family!
Thanks SO much!
Loved it Ms Julie, I am a dog lover myself,Rugby is just beautiful!!! Love your shirt. Red, I think that's your color❤️
Thanks very much!

Thanks, Steve. She sure is special to us.
She’s adorable! Congrats!
Thank you, Amy!
Thanks for sharing. Never thought about them being so large. Beautiful dog’s.
:)
Congratulations on your new family member.
Hope your daughter is doing good.
Thank you so much!
So happy for you and your family on your new puppy. Pure joy and happiness. My wife and I bred Vizslas over several decades and a big part of the joy for a breeder is to see the great happiness a puppy brings to their new home. Best wishes for you and your daughter. And your whole family that all share the challenge of such an illness. Many happy adventures head for all of you and that lucky pup to go to such a loving family. Keep the pictures and stories coming that warms all of our hearts.👍🐶👩🏻🌾👨🏻🌾😍
So appreciate the kind words and well wishes. Vizslas are amazing and I have a friend who loves his.
This is awesome. I am always looking for new owners. We were new owners 2.5 years ago when we received Saxon from our breeders. He is a healthy big boy and we have learned so much. He is a gentle giant and loves children and other dogs. We purchased a mini van, used the largest crate at night only until recently, and have two karunda beds for him. Those were rec by the breeders as well as the plexidor dog door my husband installed. We received Sax at 13 weeks and 42#, currently about 160# and 36.5" at the withers. Congratulations to you all! He is my spirit animal. We live in MS and I will have to stop walking him soon during the day as he does not tolerate the heat well. We are always amazed at how much water he drinks.
Awwwwww. I love the name! Here's to many years of happiness
Beautiful puppy. Congratulations. Rigby will bring much enjoyment to the home, I am sure.
Thanks so much Bill!
You enthusiasm & joy is so authentic, & inspiring! I wish you & your family well. God Bless.
Thank you so much! Blessings to you!
Rigby is just adorable, she makes a fine addition to your family
Thank you!
Wonderful dogs didnt see much of them in this clip
From my experience, you want to introduce other animals to your wolfhound whilst they're still young! They do really well with cats, and when older, kittens as well!! Beware "BAD" people though! They can sense them and WILL start growling if said person gets too close to the children or yourself!
She is SO CUTE! The breed sounds like a good one to have. May she bring your family much joy over the coming years.
We ( I ) added a furry member to the family a little over a year ago. Just before the Covid lockdown started. She's a Border Collie & Australian Shepard mix and was almost six months old when we got her. She is just like people online describe - full of energy, needs something to stay busy, and can damage things if they get bored.
Awwwwww how wonderful. What's her name?
@@juliegolob her name is Senna. (After a famous Formula 1 race car driver.) She is marked like a black and white Border Collie, but she was born without a tail. 😁
The perfect name for an Irish Wolfhound.
So watching hickock45 plus a whole lot of doggo videos, a few of which were heavily wolfhound related has brought me here lol!! How's your pup been holding up? I hear they very independent thinkers so training can be a bit tricky but they had to be bred that way in order to track, bay or catch without assistance from the handler similiar to the Rhodesian Ridgeback(amazing doggy from my homeland of South Africa as well as the Boerboel Mastiff). I've been following a lady by the name of Susan Garrett on YT, her methods work very well for these types of dogs.
Wow!! Big dogs....all the best!!
Hi! Thanks for sharing this was very informative! Any tips for finding a good breeder? What a beautiful breed 💕
These are such wonderful dogs! Ours was 8 months old when we got her and almost full grown already. I have yet to see an Irish Wolfhound puppy.
We love her so much.
Someone in my neighborhood had an Irish Wolfhound, and I had a Newfoundland.
Welcome to the group, my family owns 5 of them.
That's amazing!
I am adog lover. Have had 2 beagles over the years For a large dog like that you may have to invest in a saddle haha
LOL. She's pretty big
Just awesome Beautiful puppy 🙏❤️🇺🇸💕🐕🦺
Thank you very much!
Hope you got a big shovel and reinforced bags. They are cool dogs there’s always a bunch of them at the local St Patrick’s Day Parade.
We do! :)
Cool dog breed, didn't know much about them. Thanks!
You bet! THanks for watching!
Please see the latest Guns and Gadgets video about the 6th circuit Court stating no open carry.
Congratulations.
Thank you!
Great name ! Dwarfs the house cow adage. Enjoy her, spoil her like her human sisters!
I’m very curious at what age your pup was finally house trained and not having accidents or problems inside anymore. Will you let me know? Thank you!
It was pretty quick maybe 5-6 months with no more accidents. Bigger dogs have bigger bladders. We crate trained and installed a bell on the door at her nose level so she could let us know when she needed to go out. We also have her eat dinner at 330 so that she’s fully digested by bed time.
@@juliegolob nice! Thank you!
So beautiful congratulations, ❤👏👋👍🇺🇸🐕
Many many thanks
Hi Julie. I was wondering when shooting revolver have you had any issue with bullets unseating? I have 124 and 150gr syntech and shooting my 929 next weekend. Any master tips you could share? I really appreciate any response. GOD bless. PS awesome dog.
I didn't want to email you but wanted to share a couple of things as first time IW owners. Your breeders may have already mentioned these. I was going to let you know that we had a few issues with Saxon in training classes. He was so big, we should have done an outside class. He could not fit in an available normal kennel like the other puppies, which could be distracting. I could tell it was difficult for the trainers to remember he was only a puppy at 6 months and 100#. He did not want to do a "down". I think because he had to think about it...like a horse does, it is a "slow down". Where are my feet and how do I position my legs. I would have to remind them sweetly that he was not an Austrailia Sheperd. I do not make him sit at curbs and he usually prefers to stand. The other issue we had were small scabs on his belly and inner thighs ages 6-18 months. We treated him with various things and when I talked to our breeders they said it was "IW crud". They grow so fast, last thing to get nutrition was the skin. At 18 monts we no longer saw them and haven't had issues since and I wondered if the heat here was a factor. As a professional wound care nurse this really bothered me. You will notice she will be very good at finding shade. Take care!
This is SOOOOOOOOOO helpful. Thank you!
SWEET!
how old is he in the video😊
She is so cute
Looks like the 50 pound dog food bags are in your future xd...
LOL Yes!
Why?
cover it in the video
Congratulations.
Thank you!
