    _Kitsune da O!_ 🦊🤘🔥
You fall in the common mistake almost everyone make with this title lol It's iine with a capital i, it pronounce something like "ee-neh", not "Line".
Iine! is one of the early songs, 2nd single released, making us clear they don't wanna be pigeonholed. It's a super fun party night song with their besties and you got everything you need on this song, from de "Para Para" style, eurobeat and MoiMoi chemistry (Moimoi is Yui and Moa together doing their thing), to a hip hop with 90's look and heavy metal with death growls breakdown, is a beautiful crazy dream and is "Iine" = 👍
Song was part of a single and first collaboration with the band Kiba Of Akiba, they made a cover of one song called "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai" and Kiba Of Akiba did Doki Doki Morning, an interesting upbeat tempo version.
Except for certain songs like Headbanger!! and IDZ (Ijime,.Dame, Zettai that's the song you couldn't pronounce well) SuMetal doesn't shout those parts you heard during live performance, is always a backing track, same for the growling except for Distortion after 2019, that got collaboration growling of Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy band, also none of the Kami Band do growling or any voices on any song.
But the live version certainly is a blast and you'll see some difference on dance choreography, again live at Budokan 2014 is a nice choice.
If you want some details on the backstage of this song, as well 4 more of their early MV, there's a commentary vid made by the girls.
There's another version called Iine! Vega Mix version with different guitar arrangements and change on the lyrics during hip hop part, it was released for the Sakura Gakuin 2011 Nendo Friends album.
This year they brought back this crazy hit during the Asian and Australian Tour after almost 6 years without playing when YuiMetal left the group, but they didn't play this at the Europe Tour yet, we'll see in future shows but I'm doubt. OTFGK.
That ludicrous hip hop breakdown always get everyone lol.
If you're looking for more songs with rap style well pretty much SuMetal did that since the very first song Doki Doki Morning and Black Babymetal with their own four songs, especially Onedari Daisakusen and GJ! but you can clearly see SuMetal rapping with the song "BxMxC", there's an official MV but i highly suggest you the live version at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 or Budokan 2021, it's another song part of the setlist in this current Europe & UK Tour. Also "PA PA YA!!" got a rap section but that's a collab song with F.Hero, a Thai rapper, another recommended song oc.
See you next time and like SuMetal said in the rap section "Put your kitsune up!" 🦊🤘🔥

This is the probably the ultimate, "Do you like music genres? We smooshed them all into this one song for you."
Probably my favorite EDM Dance Rave HipHop Kawaii Metal song of all time. : )
This song was brought back into the setlist earlier this year.
Before that, they hadn't performed it since they toured the Southern USA with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in April of 2017.

They were sooooooo young!! They are amazing! It's probably the most impressive thing about BM.. they did it all while they were ridiculously young.. This was pretty much a sample or demo video of what they might be capable of... and they went with METAL!

  • @autohmae
    @autohmae Před 7 měsíci +21

It's definitely a very upbeat kids song.. and the rap as you said, it's very cute.
This is the song meant to establish Babymetal as been cross-genre in every way. They will do whatever they like.
And no, the the harsh vocals aren't the girls, at most it's very heavily changed in the studio to make it that way.
What we know from interviews, this song is, of the early songs, maybe the hardest to play live for the Kami band because that kind of electronic music is never created with the idea that musicians should be able to play it live.

I can't remember if you guys have reacted to "Tales of the Destinies" live at Tokyo Dome. But if you haven't you definitely should. It is the EPITOME of everything awesome about Babymetal. Complex intro, blistering drums, multiple tempo/genre changes (including a lil ragtime), melt your face guitar solo, and beautiful vocals. Such a special performance due to it being the only time it's ever been performed live. You WILL NOT be disappointed

  • @road-runner

    Hahahaha... 🤣🤣🤣 Great reaction!
Yeah, song's name is "iine" and you fell into the classic "Line" trap. Don't worry, even the rotten apple got it wrong (and never fixed it unlike others) on their streaming service. 🤣
The song is all about having fun. It's crazy even silly or childish. But that didn't prevent them to perform it again earlier this year, after not doing that since 2017.
And you got it right: this is from their first self-titled album and Kobametal (who has the final say on basically everything) didn't want to pigeonhole them into a one genre. This is their second released song (March 2012), although they premiered live "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" first (July 2011) which is a more serious and metal song.
    Until next time!

    い(ee)い(ee)ね(neh)
Their third song written but second release ever. Iine means "that's good" or a "thumbs up". Thus used to represent the "like" or "thumbs up" button on social media.

Iine is one of the classic kawaii songs from the early years that was out of the rotation for a long time; it wasn't played live at all from 2017 until Clear Night on April 2nd this year. Fans had begun to think that was never going to be played again, so when it started at Clear Night everyone lost their shit. They subsequently played it during the Asia/Australia leg of the world tour as well. It has revived hope among fans that other old songs that have been out of the rotation for years might come back, particularly Uki Uki Midnight, Awadama Fever, and Catch Me If You Can.

I see some people saying you should have reacted to a live version...can't say I agree, considering how iconic the costume change in the middle of the MV is 😂 though it is cool to hear the Kamis doing that lick right before the last chorus live (and harmonized)...but I think that would be reasonable to check out on your own time. Budokan Black Night is the only show that's available in full on youtube in which they performed it with live accompaniment.

Seeing them perform this old classic again earlier this year on their Asia tour was a delight. I don't think it had been performed since 2016. What a great year it has been for Babymetal fans with Momometal becoming an official member, multiple tours, a new album, old songs being brought back on the set list, Chibi-metal (Metalverse), a new single and possibly more. Full throttle all year.

They are very young here. I believe that Yui & Moa are still 12 here. This is in the way back machine. They have changed a lot between what they did back then and just a little bit later.
To be fair, when they formed, it wasn't believed that they were going to reach the level of success that they did. They didn't even have the budget for the backing band back then. Their first live solo show was in a quite small venue which the stage wouldn't have even been large enough to have a band set up behind them.

What a fun reaction to the most fun Babymetal song ever! And thank you for falling into the Line trap lol.
This shows once more that you can’t stick them into a music genre box and that they do whatever they want and it always works :)
Btw the girls don’t do any of the growling or screaming, that is always done by someone else.
I couldn’t imagine, but they actually played this song this year at the Babymetal Begins show and it is still as fun as it was back in 2012. Unfortunately, they cut the hip hop/ rap part and replaced it with some call and response. Either way, most fun song ever! 🤘🔥🦊

This was a premonition of who Babymetal would become. What they were about. A mix of every freaking genre you can think of. And that's EXACTLY what they've stuck with. Mixing everything from Indian, Thai, Celtic, and Spanish influences , to Death, Melodic, Thrash, Prog, Math, and Nü Metal styles, to deliver what is essentially the Babymetal sound. A genre all it's own.

"Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay") is arguably the number one BABYMETAL song that will peg your "WTF-gauge"! There are quite a few BABYMETAL songs that will make you say "WTF?!", but this one (which is their SECOND music video!) is far and away the most "WTF-ish". LMAO!!!
I think the difficulty in it being erroneously called "Line" is due to two things: first and foremost is the type font being used - the upper case "i" and lower case "L" look exactly the same; second, people tend to forget that most titles begin with an upper case letter. It's all good - as other commenters have mentioned, it's a trap to see if you are awake and most fall into that trap.

While BABYMETAL were turning the idol world upside down blending J-pop and metal, there was another alt-idol group called BiS (Brand-new idol Society) causing just as much chaos blending J-pop with punk. I don't think BiS ever performed with a live band (other than the BiS Kaidan noise shows), but some of the other alt-idol groups that formed in their wake did get big enough to have live bands backing them. Between them, BABYMETAL and BiS rewrote the rule book on what idol groups could do and there are now hundreds of alt-idol groups covering just about every genre of music you can think of. If you ever need a new avenue to explore, IDOL by BiS would be an interesting turn to take. Lots more BABYMETAL to see first though.

Hahaha, great reaction, well done for falling into the 'Line' trap.😁 Did anybody say yet that it is a capital i, not a lower case L, so iine (pronounced ee-neh)?
You were warned in the comments about the blend of genres ... but they still caught you by surprise when they dropped into hip hop.
'Iine' means 'so good' like a thumbs up emoji👍 it was only the second song they released, so although the video was from 2012 the song was from 2011 I think, long before their first album was released - in fact I very much doubt there were any thoughts of them releasing an album at all at that time.
It was technically their third song but IDZ was released later and they were clearly establishing very early on that all the usual rules of what you can do, what genres you can mix into one song and so on were not going to apply to BABYMETAL.
So EDM, a bit of hip hop/rap and then that drop into death metal - quite possibly the best drop into death metal from hip hop ever - and then back to the EDM to finish. As the song title suggests - it is so good.👍
In most live versions they dropped the rap and it became a call and response (they kept it in some live performances of course - "BABYMETAL in da house!") ... but that drop is still there.
They did warn you - "Yo yo yo yo. Microphone check, one two one two. Are you ready to mosh? Kitsune da o!"🤘🦊
In this instance the growling vocals (it is never the girls by the way) in the death metal part are explaining the hand sign is not the traditional metal devil horns🤘or maloik, it is the kitsune (fox🦊).
They have been performed this live again this year (that surprised everybody) - definitely worth finding, but for a very early live performance (and they keep the rap part in) I really hope you will react to this - do a quick search for 'BABYMETAL - Iine! - Sakura Gakuin Graduation Departures 2011' - that one is from March 2012 ... "BABYMETAL in da house!"

Did you hear how they pronounced “ii-ne”? (“ee-neh”; have another listen) It means something like, “it’s good, isn’t it? Japanese words are pretty easy to pronounce once you know, “a, i, u, e, o.” Each vowel has exactly one sound. Much easier than English. If you’ve ever studied Spanish, you’re 95% of the way there.
I imagine BABYMETAL makes perfect sense to every Japanese who hears it. They all grew hearing Idol Pop; it been around many decades, and it’s biggest fan base comprises adult men. (Look for the documentary “Tokyo Pop.”) And, as Marty Friedman tells us, crunchy guitars are a common element in Japanese popular music of all genres.

    @timgove5337 Před 7 měsíci

What makes them them IS the multiple genres. This was among the first songs they produced. And for me Megitsune is (early) the masterpiece, among others. But from IDZ on, their identity became pop plus one metal-subgenre per song, with the goal for the album to cover tons of (sub) genres, but each song to just be pop plus metal plus an influence. Yava ska. One industrial. One trance. Multiple progs but one superProg. One dubstep. One Celtic. One Indian. But the thrash powermetal oldschool guitar hero stuff is throughout, and Su’s crystal powerhouse pop voice is the centerpiece that inspired the producer when she was 10 (and already playing arenas). The oldschool (western hard rock/metal) musical references are what broke them, band maid etc out of japan. BabyMetal started this, Lovebites’ Midori cites babymetal as an influence, alongside Angra ,Maiden ,Metallica ,Malmsteen… BabyMetal started in 2010, ages 11,11,12. Before then, only Aldious existed (&defunct less hard Cyntia, proto pop electronica Gacharic Spin, proto Mary’s Blood pre Saki, and the musician-factory band called Destrose). The rest of the female boom was: doll$boxx 2 years later, then Saki joins Mary’s Blood, 2013 Bridear arises from the South (not Tokyo or Osaka like most), then BandMaid, and others like existTrace, Telecide, multi gender bands(some might be older) like yousei Teikoku, onmyoza, then finally culminating in Lovebites 2016-17, Nemophila 2019-20, then the lonesomeblue 2022 and east of Eden 2023. I love that their scene, the decade of female metal, is now 15 yrs old and still churning and recombining and improving. But don’t discount BabyMetal as the seed for much of it, and in the idol side too, inspiring brats, bish, ladybaby, dreamcatcher types, necromonidol, etc. Thank BabyMetal leader “Kobametal” producer Kobayashi

guys you should listen to the live version everytime if babymetal, because they make it more metal I will say. but still keep the non metal genre on the song still.

The song is pronounced in eh.
The capital i looks like the capital letter L.
They never do the rap part anymore probably because of copyright.
